Rules

The first rule of Fight Club is that the mod is always right.
The second rule of Fight Club Mafia is that the mod is always right.
The third rule is I reserve the right to add, remove, or change any rule at any time.
The fourth rule is bold all votes, unvotes, and requests to extend deadlines.
The fifth rule is the lynch is half rounded up (odd) or plus one (even)(Whichever is less)
The sixth rule is that ties will both be lynched if they have over one half of the necessary amount at deadline, otherwise, no lynch.
The seventh rule is don't talk outside the thread unless I say so
The eighth rule is don't quote the mod
The ninth rule is don't edit or delete posts
The tenth rule if you miss a night choice and do not tell me that you are not giving one in you may not vote the next day
The eleventh rule is violation of rules 7, 8, or 9 may result in a modkill
The twelfth rule is if you purposely don’t send in a night choice to invoke rule 7, bad things will happen
The thriteenth rule is if you are deliberately not using an ability, you must say you are not, rather than making everyone wait
The fourteenth rule is make only one post after you die
The fifteenth rule is if that post helps anyone in game, bad things will happen
The sixteenth and final rule is have fun, all-singing, all-dancing cr*p of the world

As night falls, the bar closes and fight club opens. The scent of sweat and blood fill the air, but i is different. The blood is not days old but hours. The body of Richard Chessler is in a heap on the cardboard covering the floor, his blood soaking into it, slowly spreading outwards. He hd been shot repeatedly, several more bullets were found lodged in the floor and walls, the work of someone who desperately needed to get the job done quickly and completely, before the patrons showed up and could hear anything.

Just so I'm clear, is our 'Day' when the Fight Club is open, or closed? Because it sounds like Richard was shot at night, but that may not be the same as our 'Night' phase.

I'm really not best pleased with Sineish's non-random vote, since he's claiming spurious reasoning for it; what difference does the order in which spork signed up have on whether or not he's scum? You do know roles are randomized here, right?

Or some type of restriction? If you just chose the last name on the list because it was the last name on the list, then it was random.

As far as I can tell, that's what he did. He just needed "someone" to vote and voted for the last person on the list. I've seen it before, I think.

I suppose that could be thought of as random and the effect I intended is the same as if I had just voted randomly, but I conciously made the choice of who I voted for, and I therefore do not see it as being a random choice.

To answer Drummer, my vote was not based on any information I received during the night, if indeed I even got any, and neither was it due to any restriction.

I am aware that roles are random, and that he is last on the list has no bearing at all on whether he is scum or not. But then again, neither does any

random

choice have any bearing on whether someone is scum. Possibly it wasn't a good idea to make it so obvious that I was not random voting, but I did try to give a reason, albeit that I made a mistake with the signup order, which I intended to indicate that my choice was not based on any information I had.

I have read many posts by experienced players in this forum stating claiming not to like random voting on day one and others saying that they never random vote, yet I guess there is a critical mass of support for it, so I will try and do so in future.

I think you misunderstand me. I am *not* a random voting Nazi; I don't even like it all that much as a concept anymore. I think it's silly when everyone crafts their first vote so that everyone ends up with "Player - 1 (OtherPlayer)" in the vote count. All that does is delay the real start of the game, and MAYBE give you some data later on on who voted/didn't vote for whom in the initial stages (scum are famous for using random votes as cover for their buddies).

What I am objecting to is the fact that you said you were NOT random voting, which I presumed to mean that your vote later that post would not be random either, and then proceeded to vote for someone based on an out-of-game factor. Aelyn's vote for Commodore Amazing having two words in his name was random, and he said so. You voted based on when someone signed into the game, and continue to claim that that is not 'random'. Furthermore you say you have no information leading you to vote for that person, and continue to stick with a vote that you yourself admit has no basis in-game.

My vote stays. I don't know yet whether you're just using Bad Logic as a newbie, or Crap Logic to cover for a buddy later, but I don't like it. If you turn up lynched as town, then we'll have data based on who voted you, as well.

As for the present discussion, I think ithere's nothing to worry about: "random" votes are rarely really random, but they're often a way to get the game started by voting somebody for a silly reason (see my vote for an example).

So far I'm not convinced by Sineish's explanation. I still think his vote is random vote trying to be non-random. At the moment it's the scummiest we got in my opinion.
