Would anyone object if I held off starting this game until the Marathon Weekend is over, so it won't count against the deadlines?

Pretty much Geriatric game restricted at this point ... unless there are players I REALLY want to play with.

Hallo~

I would not object, SK.
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

Not bothering to do the roleplaying thing anymore, for the most part. Too lazy.

I was looking forward to getting this game started but if it would be easier on the mod or anyone else then I am fine with the postponement.
Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The game will start Sunday, October 17, 2010 at or around 12:00 p.m. CST

Also, if you think someone would like to join this game, ask around, because daniel54981 has not picked up his Role PM yet, and I'm anticipating needing to get a replacement.

(If he doesn't confirm by game start I'll open his slot up for replacement.)

Eastern Edge of Istor Forest
Colonized Sector 2, UTP Planet Liten, Tynnfred System
December 4th, 2486 SC (Day 3, Month 15 Liten Calendar)
0523 hours SST (0545 hours Liten Local Time Zone 2)

The Liten sun was beginning to rise in the western sky, just over the tips of the strange, twisted, gnarly trees that comprised the Istor forest. Sara stood just outside the forest's edge, staring through her laser rifle's scope intently into the forboding shapes, the weapon clenched tightly in her sweaty, bloodied hands. How had it all gone so wrong? How had the Arkons found the rendezvous point? And then her screaming face came into mind again
Oh Margaret dear Margaret why why why I could've saved you but my confusion oh god no no

"No!" Sara spat at herself. "You
must
stay calm, Sara, you're in command now! You've got to get these people out of here! That's what you're going to do, and by Darwin Almighty you'll do it!"

Something rustled behind her, and she whirled around, fearing the worst. Instead, she found Arthur Williams, approaching her from the hastily-erected camp site, bouncing slightly as he strode across the boing grass (or so the colonists called the grass-like substance predominantly covering the ground in this area, so named because the grass was shaped like a small spring, and was stiff enough to cause anyone walking on it to bounce slightly).
How do I know they didn't get him?
Despite the thought, she forced herself to lower her weapon.

"What is it, Arthur?" she inquired.

"Volunteering to take over watch from you, Captain," he replied. "We're all on edge, so we should rotate watch more quickly than normal. Besides, you're our leader now. You need to be at the camp."

Grr, I hate how he just acts like he knows how to handle everything. I hate it even more when he's right.

"I was just about to call for someone myself," Sara replied. "Since you volunteered, go right ahead."

"Affirmative, Captain."

"And please, call me Sara."

Arthur raised his left eyebrow. "You don't have to run things just the way our former commander did, Captain."

"True, but I do want to run things the way
I
want to," Sara retorted gently. "So please, it's Sara."

"As you wish, Sara." Arthur turned around to face the forest, while Sara tramped the short distance back to the camp. Before she even got halfway there, she heard raised voices.

"So how the fuck do we know that
you
aren't an Arkon, Pyscho? You're crazy as hell to begin with anyway!"

"Was that part ever in doubt? What you're
really
asking, Geordi, is whether or not I'm gonna kill the rest of you."

"Are you?"

"With a few exceptions, probably not."

Simona sighed. "See, Pyscho, how the hell can we trust you with answers like that?"

"Well, whatever happened to Miss Pretty as a Pansy in Pink Pantyhose? Aren't you"

"Wha, the fuck?"

"supposed to be morale raisin' or whatever shit the brainiacs call it?"

"It would help if you'd stop
lowering
morale," Kestrel grumbled.

"Speak for yourself, Kestrel," Ingrid growled. "The hell happened to your gut, anyway? Wasn't it supposed to catch shit like that?"

Kestrel threw her hands in the air. "I don't know!" she exclaimed. "I've said this like a thousand times already, so please, cut it out!"

"What if we don't believe you?" Chuck countered.

Suddenly, Pal exclaimed, "Don't you fucking get it, guys? We can't trust
anyone
anymore! That's it, man, game over man, game over!"

By now Sara was entering the camp, approaching the huddle of vexed soldiers. Away from the main crowd, the three surviving colonists sat close to each other, Black Cat was a long distance away fiddling with her customized weaponry, Wesley and Dylan were standing guard over the IED (or Infinite Energy Device, which was a much better name than Infinity Generator, anyway), and Bill was over with his equipment, trying to contact the
Apollyon
. Sara made her way over to where Bill was working.

"Pal, shut the fuck up and sing some campfire songs if you're not going to do anything useful." Jezzy spat.

"I could just kill him for you," Psycho offered. "Make it more permanent-like."

"God-
dammit
, Mac O'Leary!" Simona snapped. "Even I know there's a time where you shouldn't be joking around!"

"You know, Arkons don't have a sense of humor..."

"The fuck you know about that?"

Sara'd had enough. "Cut it out, all of you!" she hollered. Everyone turned and stared at her. "Baseless speculation isn't going to get us anywhere, so everyone just close your mouths, walk away from each other, and calm down." She turned to Bill. "Any word--"

"But Mommy, I'm scared of the dark!"

"Can it, Psycho!" Sara turned to Bill again. "Get through to the
Apollyon
yet?"

Bill sigh dramatically. "No, Captain, I've--"

"Sara."

"Right, Sara. Anyway, I've tried every trick I know, but the Arkons must jamming all communications planetside. We're not getting through to the
Apollyon
, or the
Deborah
; hell, we can't even use our own wristcoms!"

"Then we'll have to fall back to the extraction point. Pack up your gear."

"Yes, Capt--I mean, Sara."

Sara nodded and turned away. "Operatives, pack up your equipment! The Arkons are jamming planetary communications, so we're falling back to the extraction point. Make
sure
you take your adrenaline stimulants, we cannot afford to have anyone falling asleep right now!"

Looking over at Furry and the other colonists, Sara added, "Be sure to stick by us. It's not going to be an easy time getting out of here, and we won't have time to hunt for you if you get lost. You read me?"

Furry stared blankly into space. "We'll keep close, Captain Gaints." Travis answered.

"Good. And it's Sara." She began to reach for her wristcom.
Oh...right.
"Ellen, run out and get Arthur."

"Aye, ma'am."

Five minutes later, all living personnel were present, the prefab structures and barricades had been microcollapsed, and the small cubes and rectangular prisms were placed in various operative's pockets.

After looking around one more time to make sure everything had been packed up, Sara activated her wristcom locator, only to remember that without orbital communication, the locator was utterly worthless.
Guess we do this the old-fashioned way.

Switching to use the wristcom's compass, Sara turned north-northeast. "All right, everyone, move out!"

The game has now begun.

With his name he should expect it.

Only one person has commented on Screen Name vs Flavor Name (I'd be fine with either)... slow weekend?

@ Wraith who are you hydrating with?

I think flavor name would be fun but I could see it getting rather confusing.

Now I’d like to take a moment and disgress from my prepared remarks
[/offSimponsreference]

Hello again to those I have played with. Too many names to list directly.

Greetings to those new Mafiates among you.

On to actual game matters -

Dana wrote:I do so love large random wagons. And this guy knows me, so he won't take it personally.
As I recall you are not so fond of them when the form on you. Why so flippant about being on the other side?
Twomz wrote:Only one person has commented on Screen Name vs Flavor Name (I'd be fine with either)... slow weekend?
Because suggesting anything other than Screen name is pointless?

Just because SaintK went to the trouble of concocting crazy-stupid-good flavor doesn’t mean it makes sense to start voting by flavor. Nothing good could come of that and quite frankly it would be an excuse for scum to make a ‘bad’ vote here and there just based on the confusion inherent.

Before I forget –

VOTE: Slaxx – for being scum in our last game together (although it didn’t really help you)
