I think it would be a good to make out a Town Approved Insanity list. Agree/Disagree?

Suicidal

I'm not so sure about suicidal because that could put us in lylo a day earlier near the end of the game. I think for the most part townies should just pick insanities based on their situation: eg if they are happy to play the doctor the entire game than compulsion would suit them etc, we dont want to risk cultists influencing what insanities townies pick to suit their plans. I definately think though that we need to outlaw mutilation otherwise investigations are rendered pretty much useless, we all need to agree beforehand on this though otherwise it wont work.

I agree with removing mutilation. However, I think necrophilia would be good for nominated grave robbers to take, and taboo is good for people who will probably not be using a certain type of item, as everyone will not be using occult books, AND rez kits, AND investigation kits.

Are you claiming laughter is anti-town?

Not at all. I love joking and laughing, makes the game much easier to go through. But you'll notice my .gif of dancing glee was NOT posted immediately after Percy's ruling was posted. I saved it for when I had enough stuff to respond to to justify a post. I'm simply asking that everyone else follow a similar standard so the post number/page count doesn't scare people away. Spyrex was in Caught in the Crossfire with me, he can confirm how much overposting can be a problem in large games.

note to the mod: Please do not take my constant questioning as a sign that your rules are poorly written. In every case, your answer has been the sensible answer. It's just that years of board gaming has taught me to look at the absolute literal interpretations of rules over the sensible ones, and so I always need to ask for clarification even when the answer seems obvious.

Also, I have a proposal: Noone is to select the mutilation insanity (at least not until much later in the game if you are forced to), upon penalty of lynching. This is to stop any murderers using the "oh thats just me being emo" excuse if they are caught out with blood on their clothes.

I agree with this. While I don't think we need to make a town approved sanity list, it is VERY important we make a town-forbidden sanity list.

Hito's Proposal for Forbidden Sanities

• Hallucination - You always hear Noises each Night regardless of actions taken.
  This would deny the town information which is always a raw deal. It also makes it so scum can neatly sidestep noise-based inquires.
  
• Suicidal - You require one less vote to lynch. This is not reflected in vote counts and does not affect Sadism.
  As TNM said earlier, this could put us in LYLO a day early. It's too late for Benmage not to take it but I don't want anyone else doing it.
  
• Sadism - You may only place your votes on players who are one or two votes away from a lynch.
  Scum would love nothing more then to only vote on wagons that are probably sure things. Hell, if I was scum, I'd fake having Sadism
  even if I didn't take it.
  We allow Sadism into the game and pretty much all normal vote-based scumhunting goes out the window. I'll be policy lynching anyone who takes Sadism regardless of what the town thinks.
  
• Denial - Your Insanity Count does not increase tonight, but it will automatically increase by one on each of the following two Nights.
  This allows people to explain away -1 insanity discrepancies (no man, I just took denial) and +1 insanity discrepancies (no man, took denial two days ago.)
  
• Mutilation - You always appear Bloody for the purposes of the Investigate action.
  Again, what TNM said. If you're bloody, this is not an acceptable reason why.

I can see that Plum. The question I have to you is this – what harm does it cost the Cult to delay killing El Go one Night? From my reading of the Cult rules for Fetishes once crafted they go into a pool that are only disappear when used. And based on conservative estimates I’d guess the Cult has at least 6 to 10 fetishes to work with for Night Targeting.

I love the condescension … it really suits your play to a tee.

1. Participating in the Ritual is a free action according to Percy’s Page 1 rundown. So even if they didn’t have a Rez kit they would be free to do other actions like Crafting and Passing Fetishes.
2. Even if they weren’t able to Ritual and do another action saving a member is a no-brainer. Cult has a limited pool and each loss hurts them long-term. The fewer the members they have the less ability they have to do things like Rob Graves to attempt to blend into Town.
3. Crafted Fetishes are place in a Pool to be used by the cult as a whole. So even if two cult members looked for Rez kits and each other member only crafted 2 Fetishes that’s 10 (before any Wards) which should gives them plenty potential targets to work with.

In summary your 180 is a superficial look at the situation. Not very impressed.

Your play is the ONLY reason that I didn't push this a lot harder. KMD was really scummy imo, but your dumbledore claim was left so uncontested (I was NOT familiar with the mod giving fake roleclaims before this game), that I felt like I was being an idiot, and talked myself out of knowing THREE SCUM in my first day. Wow. I was so on target there after having read those 20 pages. All I did was apply Jeep Tells to Dramonic and KMD and it would have gotten 3 people offed correctly for the town if people would listen.

Hi Mina - I only posted the wards for the people who claimed them. Baby Spice also did not claim her ward target. At the time (and even now) I didn't know if claiming the ward target is in the town's best interest. I have no problem claiming my ward target. I do think we should come to a consensus about warding targets, but I'll defer to the setup freaks in the room on this one.

As for furc, I still think he is cult, but the only thing holding me back is what Hito said about the rule discrepancy in the early game so I need to consider that in the grand scheme of things. In the meantime, his posting is so scummy, and his self proclaimed VI-town frustration does not match behavior I have observed. Plus what Percy said about matching names and targets, with a default action of Cower.

The thing I mentioned in my last post was that I was going to look into was a bust. I didn't remember DGB posting in the sign up thread and was thinking that the only way Furculow knew that DGB was in the game as a hydra is if they were chatting in the QT and made the mistake on claiming who he warded.

For someone who was bragging about how in tune with the rules he is, options available would be fairly obvious. Did you mean to say you were prompted by your cult buds to say this to cover up whatever fetishes you were crafting?

Ben is probably the scummiest player I've noticed on my first read but I'd rather see him prove his town credentials via him killing Fate than lynching him.

So we are going to start lynching people to prove they are town? That doesn't sound like a very good plan to me. If Fate is dead tomorrow we'll eventually be able to determine if he was a cult or investigator killed him.

I agree with hito's forbidden list of insanities.
I was thinking about having confirmable insanities for town, but there aren't enough that are also town safe.
I think Twitchy is solid for a town insanity.
Necrophilia is good for someone who is a designated grave robber.
Compulsion is fine since it is a natural action for town anyways.
I also don't see a problem with Compulsion.

@Hito: I feel like Hallucination and Mutilation of the insanities on your list are a case by case basis, but if you are reaching enough insanities to justify why you have 5,6+, somethings wrong there anyway. So sensible enough.

I would add Paranoid as a lower-end on that, considering its detriment to voting abilities.
