It was inevitable. Eventually, this thread had to turn to how to balance a cult. >.>

I actually like it. It includes all the alignment-changing bsns of a cult game, without the swinginess. It's a size cap, without actually being a size cap in that cult can keep recruiting. Can I be the one to run it first? :D

Gotta admit Shotty, that sounds really cool.

One question: How would the scum decide who dies? Does the original team get to choose? What happens if they're both lynched and some of the converted are still alive?

I would suggest the earliest recruited living member would choose in every case, and specify somehow the order of the first two.

Maybe do it as one assigned scum, and give him a pre-game recruit. You could do it with Lost Boys flavour, and it would be awesome.

Ehh.......... Maybe not so much with the pregame recruit thing. It just seems like it would bring a LOT of WIFOM into it. Even more so than there would normally be in a cult game, since you usually don't have to worry about it until lategame. Easier to just order them like JF said. One more question: When you get a scum flip, will it tell you if they were originally scum or recruited? I think that in this case it would be more interesting if they didn't. For example, scum could recruit a major suspect, get them lynched the next day, and then point to all these people who looked like they could have been that person's scumbuddy. Whole new dimension to bussing.

Mafia:
1 Godfather
1 Goon

3rd Party:
1 Converter (N1 must decide if they want to be sided with the town or the mafia. If he chooses to side with the mafia, he becomes a Stalker. If he decides to go town, he becomes a Doctor.)
1 Convertee (If the converter chose to become a stalker, the convertee becomes a town deputy (He will become a cop if the town cop dies). If the converter decided to become a doctor, then the convertee becomes a lawyer. If the converter dies D1, the convertee becomes a neutral survivor)

That's interesting, though a bit swingy.

Just one thing- remove the GF because of the possibility of a lawyer.
On hiatus indefinitely. This was a nice distraction when I was working through my faith transition out of Mormonism, but I need to move on to bigger and better things now.

I am going to have the mafia pm me a name of one of the three existing members and the majority dies, or i randomize if no one gets a majority. Also mafia does not have to recruit

That..... SORT of makes sense. But then you would have to have a night phase, and then a morning phase, where you let the recruitee into the QT and let him decide who to kill.

I'm...... really not liking that idea. JF's made much more sense, and was more balanced, with less WIFOM and potential activity problems.

Also, should the choice for mallow's game come on night 0?
drmyshottyizsik wrote:Really bored but here's my new idea

Every Man has a secret mafia

town10 Men with secrets

mafiaTwo Mafia black mailers- At night they get to choose one person to black mail, thus turning the person they black mailed into mafia with them.
If the mafia party how three people and it is night, then after the after the mafia chooses who to blackmail, they then also choose which of their members to kill(cannot being the same as th person black mailed)
Mafia have to kill one of their own? :?
I would hate to be mafia.

I also don't care for games where alignment changes in the middle of a game.

Due to the recruiting aspect, I would say that the mafia should always have to kill one of their own, regardless of their numbers. Otherwise, it makes it IMPOSSIBLE for the town to win. So basically, it's a suicide cult where whoever submits the recruitment PM dies.

Because of the alignment change and lack of town power roles, 2:10 is probably the ideal ratio. Very swingy.
