I'd border on a thin line between admiration and suicide, depending on who was playing.
Ski mask? Check! Sawed off? Check! Guilty conscience, fear of death? Check! Check! Check!

Get to know me. Or don't. I won't tell you what to do. I'm not God. Or your father. Or your boss.

Once upon a Rabbit Mafia

Theme:

" Once upon a time not very long ago ..
There comes a boy they call Fat Red Joe ..
Red Joe awoke to find himself in the forest ..
Where the mystical beings glow ..

Red Joe remembered the lullaby of his childhood ..
So he cries and cries so fairies will appear by his side ..
But to his surprise poof! nine rabbits from the wood ..
They offer Red Joe help to be out alive ..

But only seven are harmless hares ..
Two rabbits are carnivorous dudes ..
Descendants of the wolf that stalked Little RedHood ..
Red Joe must pick his path with care ... "

5 good steps (majority vote on town) = outta the forest safe and sound.
2 bad steps (majority vote on mafia) = step into Wolf-Rabbit Den.

Set-Ups:

7 Herbivorous Rabbits:

2 Carnivorous Rabbits:

Roles:

Herbivorous Rabbit:
You have no lethal intention. You just want this fat piece of meat out of your forest so you can be enjoy the beautiful day. Thus, you will try to convince him to take your path, or the paths of the rabbits you trust.

Ability:

*Your sympathy and your vote (self-vote)!
*If Fat Red Joe take your path, the Wolf-Rabbit will be angry and eat you off when no one is looking!

Wincon:

Make Fat RedHood travel 5 steps on the right path!

Carnivorous Rabbit:
You and your brother [player X] are tired of gnawing on tasteless rabbit meat and it’s been a while since you’ve seen such a tasty creature. Excellent. If only you could lead him to your den …

Ability:

* Your cunningness and your vote (self-vote)!
* If Fat Red Joe take your path, you have a sudden urge to get back to your den to prepare the utensils. You will also abduct the rabbit that hammered you as spice! ( If you self-hammer, you will abduct no rabbit ).

Wincon:

Make Fat Red Joe travel 2 steps towards your den!

Mechanics:

This Set-Up is largely based on the idea of incorperating the self-vote, self-hammer aspects of the Mafia Game with the reverse lynch win condition ( get yourself lynched! ). In addition, it also demands high levels of competence as well as cooperative skills from
every player
in order for town to emerge victorious ( because pro-town people is lynched! ). The mechanics also enable many new types trade-offs that each team can make in order to reach the best route to victory.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

I would very much appreciate any comment/idea/suggestion for the Mechanics or Balance or whether there should be PRs in the Set-Up! :)
Justice will prevail

Well, this WOULD be my first modding...just like The Room was Tommy Wiseau's first movie... ;)

What would be the best way to make sure that only people who know of The Room sign up?

Also: Who should I ask if my first mod could be a mini-Theme?

The rules say the first one needs to be an Open or Mini Normal...but I think I'd do a whole lot better with a Room mini theme.

hasdgfas. Be prepared to bring a game you've modded offsite that qualifies as experience.

Actually, I think mith has to approve off-site experience for modding, unless it's changed recently... best just to copy both of them.

I'm just gonna sign up to mod a regular game, and then I'll handle The Room after that, if no one else does it first. If someone else does it first, that's just fine as long as I get to play :)

The Room Mafia has to have a setup so terrible it's brilliant.

Would anyone be interested in a game based loosely off of 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors? Not necessarily the characters - although this would be possible, it'd also be very spoiler-ific for those that haven't fully beaten the game, and I don't know how many people have since it's a bit of a sleeper title. It would still take elements from the game, though.

Here's a small description of the game for reference, modified from Wikipedia as to avoid minor spoilers:

The story starts off with a college student named Junpei waking up in a ship, with no memory as to how he arrived there. On his wrist lies a bracelet with a single digit, "5", and on the door blocking his escape lies the same number. Suddenly, the window of his room breaks open, and water begins to flood the room. Junpei eventually escapes the room, but not before remembering how he got there in the first place.

Eventually, Junpei groups up with the 8 other participants of the "Nonary Game", and in order to not reveal their identities, they each give themselves code names based on their bracelet numbers. Their kidnapper, Zero, eventually tunes in and tells them the rules of the game: They must escape the ship within 9 hours, and must do so by going through a door marked with a 9. Additionally, the participants must also follow all of Zero's rules, else they suffer the consequences. These rules are based off of the usage of numbered doors; around the ship there are doors marked with numbers, and only a group of 3-5 people whose digital root equals that number can pass. The digital root is acquired by adding together a group of numbers, then adding those numbers until you're left with a single digit. Example - The digital root of 5, 7 and 9 is 3 (5 + 7 + 9 = 21 -> 2 + 1 = 3.)

Still bouncing ideas around, but ideally it'd be similar to a game where during the day, aside from voting to lynch players, they can vote on which players enter certain doors, which can give them items/powers. If I can't figure out how to balance this or make the mechanic work, then it'll just be a flavored game.

It's also planned to be a 9-player, obviously. :P

I had an idea for a game I call Night Shift Mafia.

Divide a 14-16 player group into 7-8 player groups. Game time is divided into two equal halves based on time (8 RL days per phase?) during which a lynch does not need to be reached. Vote counts from the day will carry on to the night and vice versa. The day shift players may post during the day phase and use their powers during the night phase. The night shift players use their powers during the day phase and may post during the night.

Balance could potentially be a huge issue, but I think it could possibly be resolved by a clever mod (more clever than I, anyway). Alignment flips would make this idea super swingy, so the only way I could forsee it being run effectively would be to scramble the player pools at regular intervals or to not do alignment flips.

This might just be a pipe dream, but what do you guys think?

Isn't that basically Tuthreded without the transport option? I'm not sure what would be so difficult about it balance-wise, but it doesn't seem like it'd be very interesting, either... what am I missing?

Someone HAS done a Warcraft mafia, right? Or am I going crazy?

If not, I will make a set-up for it and make it a large Theme.

I'd /in for this.

If those items include dead players' bracelets, that would be awesome, too. I don't know how one would distribute the bracelets, though; maybe leave it in the room where the player died?

Considering doing a WoW-themed uPick where each person would pick their race, class, and gender and I'd randomly assign mafia/not mafia/third party amongst those people. Different in-game actions would case you to 'level up' and you could choose which abilities to learn.
