Yeah, that whole not-having-a-scene schtick is really working out, right?

The one thing that could've saved HoN was if MLG and LoL's proceedings fell through in the past few weeks. They didn't, and MLG is throwing quite a bit of money at LoL, as is IEM. That's the two major circuits right now. If DreamHack picks it up as an official title, then LoL picks up the trifecta right now.

LoL's only major concern to sweat now is if DotA2 mounts anything on them. I didn't watch any of the tournament at Gamescom today to really gauge anything, but it's mixed reviews so far. The one # I did see was something like 2.8M concurrent views. That blows any viewer #s LoL has pulled thus far out of the water. It all depends on what Valve can throw out there that LoL can't (hint: it's not money) at this point.

Also, apparently the tournament's commentary was coming from the spec mode. This is huge if true.

For the record, it's spelled chutzpah. Also, how's that whole "hemorrhaging players to the point HoN had to go free" working out for you guys?

According to everything I'm hearing on TL + TL Mod comments 1.5 Mill was the cocurrent peak and approx. 1 mill of that was Chinese.

Even if its 500k non-Chinese, that's a ton. That tops LoL at DreamHack.

Hard carries are naff. Watching a spectre pretty much 1v5 was extremely meh.
I love the variety of strategies available. Push strats, 3v1 lanes, occasional junglers, etc.
I love the map. It's so much better. Holy fuck I play LoL afterwards and wish it wasn't 3 cm long. A lot of the "too passive!" complaints about LoL would be solved if the map was just bigger.
Speaking of which, the early game action was neat and it did seem like more shit was happening than in the pro lol games I've watched. However (and I dont know whether this is common) I watched one game that literally turned into the most boring turtley 100% meh game of Moba I've watched at at around the 25 minute mark. One team had a clear advantage, but didnt seem to be able/willing to just end it. In League, they'd just have baroned and won. They did kill roshan - twice, in fact - but it seemed to do nothing in terms of pushing the game forwards. I like league's baron better.
Dota has many cool heroes.
The graphics for Dota2 are gorgeous, but I think I prefer league's, if simply for the flashier particles on spells. When a malz is throwing purple shit around, its easy to parse what is happening. I found it real hard to tell who (for example) Lina or Lich were killing (except for the rapid dropping of health, hehe).

I watched a bit. There was no commentary so I was a bit lost. It's just easier for me to understand things when there's commentary. I watched some LoL at Dreamhack and had the same issue.

Also, DotA 2's YouTube. If you want to skip champion select, skip to ~11:15. It's seriously that long.

Oh, and please keep in mind that LoL and HoN are established games, whilst DotA is barely in beta stages.

Wait, so you're saying that LoL is so bad that a HoN player went and played like 500 games in a couple months? He *clearly* wasn't enjoying himself.

Everyone in both LoL and HoN say that Summoner Flash is breaking the game. Personally, I don't find it to be a problem in of itself. Flash CAN be beaten with several things. Exhaust, in my opinion, is both more powerful than Flash and is much harder to stop.

You haven't seen bullshit until you've played against a carry with a natural escape packing Flash and Cleanse or a very solid duo lane with double Exhaust.

It doesn't break the game, it breaks the potential for competitive play because it causes the game to be very forgiving for mistakes.
Which of these sounds more exciting to watch all game:

in HoN/Dota: The players perform a well executed gank, and the player who got ganked is punished. He can not escape death and loses gold.

LoL: The players perform a well executed gank, and the player who got ganked escapes with flash. Or, even if he dies, he doesn't lose any gold, so no big deal.

I think you're underestimating how far behind someone can get just by not being in lane. The beauty of flash resulting in ganks not being kills is that the person being ganked often has to stay out of lane longer simply because they have to move back and recall home.

OMG. I played a game with amumu because someone wanted to play Annie.

I went 9-2-3. With Amumu. It was 3v1 with Trynda, xin and morgana and I killed xin and the others had to retreat.

How did that happen?
