TT is known for the ease at which ganks can occur, but honestly, if you don't ward there, you don't deserve to win. More then on summoners rift, jungle control is everything. If you didn't see poppy coming to gank you, yes, things are going to be troublesome.
But suppose you did everything right up to this point. No ganks succeeded and you are slightly ahead in gold of poppy, and preferably her tower is a little lower: don't be silly and buy armor/mr. At that point you are shutting her down. Her burst comes, you take it, and being decently tanky by now, you survive this easily after which you dish some damage back and maybe with your team even take her down.
I mean, what good is poppy when there isn't someone on the opponents team she can charge into and melt within seconds?

I think you're forgetting that the bonus on W stacks, meaning that once you attack 5 times, the AP Ratio is quintupled.
Double Up is also pretty useless, in my experience.
