The umbrage voting stuff: I came in when people were annoyed that I wasn't posting. I admitted my mistake in my previous post, but I felt that we were wasting our dayphase lynching a purposefully obnoxious poster. I made a mistake, but I posted my thoughts and was trying to be active and post constructively. Do you really think ANY scum members would posting like I did when Umbrage when he already had 10 votes and others were asking everyone to pile on more votes? If I were his partner, I would quietly voted and let everyone have fun with Umbrage. I hadn't seen a game with a role like this, and thought his initial survival was enough. But I changed my mind when vpb and others were set on umbrage, and was somewhat convinced to throw down the final vote. Scum probably bussed him quickly or tried to distract from the wagon early on.

Aside from over-explanation and WIFOM, the biggest issue here is simply that your explanation doesn't make sense. Specifically, you're relying on an internally inconsistent theory of how scum would have behaved in your situation: ie. that scum would either have bussed early on

tried to distract early on

but definitely not

avoid/vacillate. Your defence simply assumes that scum would have predicted the Umbrage lynch in advance and acted accordingly.

Approximately 14 townies-slash-third-partiers and 4 scum remained at the time in this setup. If that was the case, then 13 townies 3 scum or 12 townies one third party 3 scum remain.

, as of that post of mine you criticized, I suspected Gurgi, vollkan, imaginality, Lurconis. UT, pacman(Mysterio) nullish. I had Amrun, DGB, IS, Porochaz, EK leaning town. I had a mistaken meta on Baltar.. thought he was Fabio for some stupid reason. Amrun flipped town, you agree with me on Porochaz, and you changed your mind to join me on DGB-town. Pretty much the only people we appear to differ on are Lurconis and Tripod.

Lurconis pushed IS, Gurgi and suspected MistBeauty yesterday, and only hopped on to Umbrage after three players (VPB, Tripod, prozac) made it obvious that Umbrage was going down. Lurconis's post before his vote and his post after his vote pushed Gurgi over Umbrage.

That makes Lurconis a poor vote right now, however, because 1) his suspicions of Gurgi are/were valid and 2) his suspicions of MistBeauty are valid. He only becomes more suspect for yesterday's behavior if Gurgi flips town (and if IS and MB flip town, to lesser extents. Note, if Gurgi is badtown, his vote on Lurconis makes good sense.) I would rather go after someone who is not pushing a member of the Axis of Evil. {vollkan, imaginality, Gurgi, possibly Mysterio} and resolve the Lurconis situation later after more flips.

Baltar, UT, and to a lesser extent Porochaz look townish due to the critical timing of their pushes on Umbrage. I've said, I would have bused the shit out of Umbrage at that point if I were scum, but I don't think that's the common scum play, and unless Baltar, UT and Poro are known power-busers, I think they should be left alone for some time.

While IS could be scum, vollkan's singleminded push on IS sucks. "coasting" indeed.

DGB, EK and IS aren't impressing me with townieism. I couldn't name a suspect of DGB's or EK's other than IS right now, probably because of their noise-to-commonsense ratios. Likewise with IS--I know he suspects vollkan and enjoys barbing the ladies, but that's about all that comes to mind. Sure, we can reread their posts more carefully to see who else they suspect, but keep in mind that if one or more are scum, their goal is to obfuscate, and that's what all three are doing. I have them as leaning town, but not strongly.
