Zdenek: did the arguments presented in thread convince you mass claim was bad?

Trying to be as objective as possible, I don't see someone who is scum with Hoopla debating with her over the merits of a mass-claim, and if the mass claim scheme was cooked up in the QT, DX wouldn't have needed to ask about it.

/you probably have some strategy first post planned already but etc.
To my knowledge, there shouldn't be a numbers plan, unless we wanted to massclaim and smalltown it, but I don't think that is a good idea, really. I designed this setup with SpyreX. We changed the draft to eliminate most of the number theory/neighbourhood analysis, so it's more based on scumhunting.
So, who are we wagoning at the moment? Lets see...

↑ Zdenek wrote:I was thinking three popcorn claims.
There's an alternative claiming idea, which is that all first claim the amounts that we bid, in the same order at the things we bid on appear in the first post and then in a second claim, cliam what we bid on.
Either of these should catch scum in lies, and at worst, generate a reasonably small pool of people who could be good lynches or who are on 1 v 1's.
↑ David Xanatos wrote:That's actually a really good idea.. one question though.
Am I right in thinking if there's a tie for the highest bid, the role's just removed from the game? If so, then that plan would work I think, if not, couldn't Scum just claim a clashing high bid?
↑ Hoopla wrote:How exactly will this prove someone to be scum? The only way you can prove this is if scum lie about their bids. Even then, if they wanted to lie, they could just bid under a known number that exists of their partner's, or a number in the thread that is already claimed.
I think massclaim is more dangerous given that most players will have only one or two powers. Power spread across more people means we'll be playing in a mostly mountainous setup from Day 3 onward. But on N1 and N2, you can't exactly make solid plans as there are too many variables to control. It seems suboptimal to massclaim D1.
↑ Zdenek wrote:Neither will necessarily prove anyone to be scum, but it could. In either scenario, I expect that we'll end up with some 1 v 1's, and small groups of people that are sure to contain scum.
In the first scheme, scum would be forced to lock themselves into what they bid on first, then on what they actuallly got. Their numbers will have to agree with this. Considering that we all presumably used all 100 of our points, they might have to argue for some strange bids to get the numbers to work out if they want to lie.
In the second scheme, they'd be locked in to the amounts that they bid from the start, and partially locked in to what they actually bid on because of the order rules.I have secret plans and clever tricks.- The Enormous Crocodile.- Cogito Ergo Sum

Faraday, don't listen to Parama. I'm the only one who has access to the Elli-Hoopls transcripts. He's town.
Not really. Strikes me as a bad strategy for scums. Beyond the fact that you're relying on a Neighbor Spy targetting you, why would you force the majority of your posts to be interactions with a buddy? I totally see Ellitown getting 3 Neighborizers and just talking in QTs for most of the game.Scumchat is awesome. Yarr!

It occurs to me that if I were scum, a townlynch today would allow me to win overnight by using the vanilla vig to get 2 kills (this doesn't work if Zdenek were my partner, but that just goes to show that a scum team with a vanilla vig wouldn't've killed Reck). Given how easy it would've been to push either Elli or Zdenek as Today's lynch, this should confirm me, methinks.Scumchat is awesome. Yarr!

Re-read the neighbor qt. The post-Hoopladeath post feels kinda slimy, but I still very much believe Elli's town. Interestingly, Hoopla called gandalf's early posts scummy. I also totally see gandalf killing Reck last Night to remove the "gandalf townflip clears Reck" incentive to lynch gandalf.

Do elaborate.
Or scum killed Reck because he's confirmed town AND because it causes this. Bullshit, I'm town, stop voting me based off fucking NK spec.
I think elli is almost certainly town. As is CES(although i have no idea what he's talking about, I just think he's town). That leaves us a lynch pool of [Juls, Parama, Faraday, Zdenek]. Out of these, Juls is likely town barring gambit shenanigans that should be considered LATER. Parama could be scum. If I were scum, I wouldn't have been thinking I would end up with this many blocked kills, so I could have gone for claiming strongman(especially with hoopla on my team). Faraday is town from what I remember of ML D1. Zdenek is almost certainly scum. Buddy is probably Parama or Juls.
