Reds - ArPen, MPen are good
Yellows - Mana Regen and Armor are both really strong and versatile choices
Blues - I like having AP and MRes ones
Quints - Health are great to have, but they're expensive

on the flip side, what, in you guys's opinions, are the most worthless runes?
I know that some are very specific like energy but they are useful on the champs they correspond to.
But like.

What should no one ever get in terms of tier 3 runes?

I don't remember what set of runes it is, but one scaling set becomes even with the flat set at level 4.

Jungler = doesn't lane, goes through the jungle and kills the little creeps to level/get gold and their primary job is to get dragon for the team and come in and SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER gank the lanes

Support = someone who isn't a big damage dealer but has sick heals/stuns/slows/whatever... basically a good babysitter (Taric, Janna, Sona, Soraka)

Tank = a character who can tank massive amounts of damage for his team... usually has a taunt to make people attack him while the high DPS characters burst them to the ground (Amumu is pretty much Tanking 101)

AP Carry = mages/casters who rely on magic power to do their damage and dish out a shitload of support (usually AP carries go mid; you play Veigar a lot so you will generally go solo mid) and obviously you defend against AP champs buy getting magic resistance

AD Carry = rightclick to win champions who rely on autoattacking for physical/attack damage (generally AD carries go bot with a support in the metagame) and obv you use armor to stop the physical attacks

tri-force > atmogs on yorick

dem sheen procs + phage slows> having to farm up 5335 gold to be dealing any significant amount of damage

your core is going to be something like manamune/triforce/frozen heart/bv, qss or fon/situational defensive item (usually warmog's, you'll have enough armor/mr and will generally only need health by this point)

that core is not necessarily in order; generally you'll go something like:

meki pendant or blue crystal (buttons swears by blue crystals, i think he's wrong, but either should be viable) + 2 pots
tear + boots on first back (remember to buy a ward for your lane so your jungler doesn't want to murder you in your sleep ^_^)
spirit visage if vs magic harass lane, else rush to manamune
upgrade boots into either tabi or mercs, get glacial shroud (if you bought mercs) + negatron cloak
get tri-force (sheen>phage>zeal)
get glacial shroud if not gotten already, upgrade negatron cloak (QSS if vs a lot of CC, BV if vs 1 burst caster and not much else magic damage, FoN otherwise)
get frozen heart
get final situational defensive item
beat faces in with shovel

don't forget to adjust for the situation, blindly following builds because "it's how i build X" is a good way to lose a lot of games

Epic game was just had.

I picked Cait and it was all good. We had a decent team comp for our level in Cait, Kass, Twitch, WW and Poppy. WW went tanky. I look at the load screen. It had already been decided I was solo top. They don't have a jungler. SHIT. So I end up in a lane with Graves and Singed, (lol I know).

So I'm not feeling too bad. I have TP and I'm Cait so it's all good. But wait. My roommates are downloading three episodes of legend of the seeker. (Great show, watch it.) Hi 500 ping. It's still ok. I'm Australian, I'm used to last hitting in positions like this. I let them push knowing that I can actually farm ok under the tower. They dive me. I dodge fling with flash kiting them both under my tower even more. A few auto attacks on Graves and he goes down. I escape with nothing and WW comes to clean up the singed. So cool. I'm more fed than them.

Me and twitch proceeded to melt everyone except Singed. All it took was saying once not to focus the tank and hey the idiots at my ELO don't know how to itemize for a losing scenario. None of their team built armor. What little they had was shredded by both me and twitch getting BCs and we just raped. I 3HKOed MF, 4HKOed GP, 3HKOed Graves. Their Malz was smart and build up a zhonya's to counter us a bit but he got taken out by our WW being on the ball with his ult quicker. We just ignored singed and let him either escape or we 5v1ed him. Twas a great game. Carried like a boss with 15/4/17. Had most CS too. All with 500 Ping. I'm a happy ducky.

btw. What is the difference between 3 MS Quints + PD v Lv.2 Boots?

While triforce is good on yorick, I'm generally skeptical of builds that involve getting 6000+ golds worth of items before investing in any defence on a melee character. What's more, yorick scales better than most bruisers off pure ad (which atmogs is rich in and triforce is poor in) thanks to both ad ratios on his q and e and the fact that ghouls gain a percentage of his attack damage (35% iirc). I've no doubt that despite this triforce builds do more damage, but then again when you invest 4k gold in a damage item I certainly hope it would do more damage, but yorick and other bruisers also need to be able to survive being in the fray, which is why atmogs is so good generally.

Then there's the fact that yorick remains a threat even without a huge amount of damage items due to duplicating your ad carry, so he can persist on low damage for a while before he needs to ramp it up. If you really need to get your damage online faster, manamune-giants belt-atmas-finish warmogs is a good build path (possibly even optimal one for getting atmogs generally, imo)

I'd ask myself after spending 2000 gold on manamune whether my next purchase really needs to be another big damage item. I think the answer is generally no unless you're absolutely crushing face (which, granted, is fairly common on yorick).

I'm also not really a fan of any annie build which is deathcapless at the 25 minute mark. You
need
that raw burst by then, or you may as well be playing a gimped alistar. Deathcap is 180 ap all on its own, and then the 30% passive that applies to any other ap you get means that its absolutely core on virtually every caster, and necessary to have the dominant midgame that most casters enjoy.
