Actually, I'm mostly posting just to oblige hito's request for a new page before 9 PM EST. I agree that kiwi's post was a towntell, but Equinox wanted me to wait until she'd reread the game before moving our vote. I'd been leaning toward an Oversoul vote. I'll wait to see what she says.

The Yebba Dim Day marks the last hurrah of daylight. By the time we reach Huffaker, which stands at Nine O’clock in the Evening, every last trace of sunlight has departed from the skies.

Huffaker is an impressive island, topographically speaking. Its rock formations - especially those below ground - are both vast and elaborately beautiful, resembling natural cathedrals and temples. The greatest of these is Hap’s Vault, discovered by one Lydia Hap. Even if it were, simply a cavern it would be notable enough for the uncanny precision of its symmetries. But it is not. It is Miss Hap who was the first to suggest the Chamber of Skein.

The Skein? How do I begin to describe the Skein?

The word, of course, has humble origins. It means a length of yarn or thread that has been wound on a reel. But the Abaratic Skein, as Lydia Hap describes it, is something far more significant. It is the thread that joins all things - living and dead, sentient and unthinking to all other things. According to the persuasive Miss Hap, the thread originates in the Vault at Huffaker, appearing momentarily as a kind of flickering light before winding its way invisibly through the Abarat, to begin the task of connecting us, one to another. I have twice visited the Vault, and on both occasions saw phenomena that could well fit Lydia Hap’s theory: line lines of light crisscrossing the cavern.

Perhaps what I saw was an optical illusion, and the idea of Infinite Connectedness is pure sentimental invention. But what we want to believe and what is true are, I think, more closely related than the Rationalists would sometimes have us believe. Personally, I do not doubt that some power connects us to everything else in our archipelago. Even if we would wish it otherwise - for we are not just joined to what pleases our eyes and our morals, but also to what is shameful and ugly - we are indisputably a part of a greater system than ourselves. Until somebody comes along with a better idea, Lydia Hap’s Skein will do very nicely."

I guess we just have to disagree on the impact of 4nxi3ty's "1 of 3". I did not jump to the conclusion that 4nxi3ty knew which of the 3 was scum at the time of his post. Why try to put words in my mouth? Where I agreed with Nachomamma8 was that if he thought any of the 3 was scum, he should have been investigating that further over voting someone else.

You jumped to the conclusion that he did know which of the three was scum because you voted for him instead of asking if he did.

Yes, even had I known that he wasn't sure which one specifically was scum, I would have voted him for his post. The why is tied up in the 33% discussion.

So then your whole reason for voting him is faulty. You voted for him because he did not vote for one of the three that he called scum but how is he supposed to vote for one if he doesn't know who it its? Why would you vote for him anyway if this reason didn't apply?

First, I never, ever, said or implied that 4nxi3ty should have voted based purely on chance. Again with the misrep of what I've posted.

But you can only apply percentages if he is voting randomly and you did imply it because you said that he should have voted for one of those three even though he did not know which was scum.

Second, if he believed the 1 of 3 statement (which he has since said he did), the option was vote one of them to help clarify which one it was or vote outside of that set. He chose to vote outside the set, and from his stated point of view, that meant he was choosing to vote a 2 out of 9 chance over a 1 of 3 chance. Voting with less likelihood of hitting scum than another option he believed does not look town motivated.

Once again, unless you are voting completely at random, you can not apply probability to mafia. Instead of taking a chance and voting somebody randomly outside of those three, he hunted for scum. There was nothing random about his vote.

Post #215 is where I gave my reason for voting 4nxi3ty. It's where I first used the term smear, which you use in response to me, which means you knew I had posted it. Why would you ask this question?

I really want to know something from you. What is your opinion of voting as a scumhunting tool? So far, I'm being led to believe that you think it is not a proper or viable tool. Am I wrong about your opinion? If so, then why would me using a vote on 4nxi3ty for scumhunting purposes be scummy?

You need to be more specific but in general, I do not believe that using your vote as a scumhunting tool is effective.

Was your vote on Hinduragi unjust? It was in your first post, so where was your scumhunting before voting? Do you think hypocrisy is scummy?

All of my scumhunting is in that post. I fail to see how my Hinduragi vote is unjust and I plan to return to it when Kiwi posts his reasoning. Hypocrisy is scummy depending on the situation.

Ok, I read up, read some after work earlier today. I'm pretty sure I've caught up and understand what's going on but I'm skimming Zang's stuff. I remember he asked why I said his stuff was useless. I particularly don't think they're going to help him figure out alignment, at all. If I was scum and can make up ANY response I deem acceptable for town then I would use it. And, what's he going to do? Judge it as truth or lie? He can do that without asking me. A lot of the questions were about the most obvious shit too. Responding to that shit just pisses me off in general.

I'm not sure about the faraday side, but on the indecision side, it seems that mina and equinox holds 2 completely different opinions of faraday, and mina is frantically trying to stop equinox from tunneling on what mina feels is a townie. This type of thing coming from a hydra makes me think of these 2 scenarios-

a) Hydra who is town and are...

Indecisive

about faraday's alignment. this is really plausible.
b) they are a scum hydra, with mina trying to drag equinox out of the hole that equinox is digging. Concerning, but unlikely, and i think it's a really difficult thing to stage, the posts feel too real.

Option a is more likely in my opinion. this makes me think that indecision is town.

i'll analyze faraday's side tomorrow. Posting coming from faraday seems like its not clear on which viewpoint- town or scum- they are coming from for me. i'll think more on that.

Aside from the first post in general (not just talking about the supposed "slip", talking about the whole structure and design of the post) I have stated why that was scummy. You're a good player, so you aren't going to give alot for people to lynch on. But this town is a little different and at a glance motivated by some steamroller-type players, so scum would have been caught by now if the scum weren't like, pretty decent. In my opinion.
