Still means you can catch at least half the mafia by lynching the worst players first.

And probably half the town power roles too, plus the "worst players" probably covers 40% of the people in the game.

This is Misetings, after all.

If the scum captain is picking town power roles, he's not picking scum. Even if only 75% of the scum are in the worst 40% of players, no one other than those 40% is going to be in any danger of being lynched until late in the game.

Plus, some of those have to be worse than others. (I assume you can't announce that you'll pick by alphabet, or something?)

Perhaps, but generally there are more nightkills than lynches, so it'll take until lategame - or even endgame - to lynch that 40%. Plus I think the scum captain will use most of his early picks on the scum, but it's after those first three or four picks he can start work on crippling the power roles as best he can.

That's a matter of opinion - at least, about who's the worst.

Then doesn't the game become mostly about guessing your opinions on player skill?

Seol's model at Misetings in interesting. However, I envisioned something a little different.

The scum would secretly pick each other, and submit a "game plan" BEFORE SIGNUPS. The best plan is selected by a jury of peers, haha, and a Dream Team is born. It's really about the cleverest plan, and a clever scum team should include a variety of player types and experience anyway. Once a scum team is chosen, they slip in their signup amongst voluteer cannon fodder... I should think a game with 20 players 5 Mafia should work.

I guess so, so

Has this been used before? Sorry if it has.

How about a game where if someone was lynched or killed in the night, that persons role WASN'T revealed? And if a scum was lynched sometime before a certain day and it's at a stage where if that scum wasn't lynched, it'd be game over? It's just an idea, but I might be able to make it into a mafia game.

If this has been suggested, then nvm about all this.

Why? It is an excellent idea. That others have tought of it too is just a proof for this :) I encourage you to make a setup on your own that uses it.

In the theme forum? And how long will that take?

EDIT: Err, to wait to mod a game?

I would like to run a Mini Theme based on the movie The Seven Samurai.
Due to the theme being vulnerable to mass claims on Day one I intend to use the method explained here to create the roles.
I would like to know if people think the game could still be fun played that way.

You mean that's actually dedicated to mafia?! I've modded a game before, but it wasn't too big however.

Peacebringer ran a game with a "Coroner" and "Coroer Assistant" Role, and that player was the one who got the roles of the dead.

What about egyptian mafia?
Mafia = Tomb Robbers
Doctor = Pharaoh
Cop = Priest
Townie = Slave
Each day, you choose someone to exile. Each night, the tomb robbers choose who's gold to steal.

It's quite incomplete. I'm still working on it, but when I went through the themed games, I didn't see an egyptian mafia, so I guess I'm the first to suggest that.

I'm deciding on what theme game to run when I come back. Which sounds better?
-We Didn't Start the Fire, Large Edition (You can look at the other game for help, but it won't be much! (Other than proving how crazy I'm willing to make the setup appear.)) 25 people
-Unusual Role Mafia (The game that MeMe told me not to run as a mini!) 15 people
-Yet Another Scummer Game (Mostly people who haven't been in a scummer game before, and a lot of people from when I was in my glory days.) 25 people
-Perodic Table Mafia (Do I really need to give a description?) 25 people
-Weasel Mafia (Dilbert v. the corporate weasels. Who will win?) 20 people
-Animorphs Mafia (Thanks to AniX and MoS) 20 people

I need to know soon so I can get the preperations done. I have a tendency to write a lot of flavor text. (You should see what I have done so far for Cruise Ship Mafia!)

If you run this we will eventually have enough roles to be able to run Meta Meta Mafia, where the roles are Mafia Games that had Mafia games/players/avatars/sites as roles.
I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.

Hmmm...

*runs to write down an idea for a mini game*

LIGHTING EDIT: And I would have two of those games.
