Day One, Vote Count the First

Zdenek (2): riceballtail, bv310
Ghostlin (2): HellloooNewman, Zdenek
bv310 (1): vijay2vasandani
Junpei (1): PeregrineV
Not Voting (4): pappums rat, Ghostlin, Junpei, hiplop

pappum's rat is V/LA through Thursday.

With 10 alive, it takes 6 to lynch and 5 to no-lynch.

The deadline is currently set for 5:00 pm PDT (GMT-7) on Tuesday, April 3.

Finally, one announcement that I imagine may be taken for granted, but just in case, I wanted to say it explicitly: Flavor is simply flavor and is not necessarily reflective of any gameplay events that may or may not occur.

As ever, any questions or concerns, please let me know.
On hiatus from any new mafia commitments.

Most important trait is objectivity. For example, I've played with a good half of this playerlist before, some of them a while back (Hi RBT!). If I judge all of them based on past games, then I'd be hard-tunneled on RBT because of one of my first games here where s/he won in LyLo as scum, which I still hold a grudge about because she nk'd me and my lover-partner on N1.

Actually, now that I think about it,

You're still a frog.

Consistency in the game is the most important trait as a mafia player, Junpei. Oftentimes people will say gut or something akin to that, but more people have been caught with their pants down lying or having inconsistent stances. Policy lynches aren't even really scummy, and I'd say there's even a place or time for them if the players in the game are still really consistent.

EBWOP: I guess I'm too lazy to look this up on wikipedia, I like Yoshi as a player from the few games I've played with him so I inned.
Flavor-wise
, besides talking mice, is there anyone here thinks I should know about the book series?

All of the characters are animals in the series. Generally speaking, there are several species that are likely to be town. I only distinctly remember that mice and badgers live in the abbey, but it's been a while since I've read any of the books.

I was expecting an "I'm sorry for not following your wise plan for two days straight, consequently generating a town loss", but okay. :P

By the way I think that the most important trait to have in the game of mafia is Box.

Even though you're probably kidding, that's still a scummy statement to make.

I'm not joking. Assuming an 8/2 setup, we've got two mislynches to mylo, so I think that there is a strong argument to made for us to take the opportunity to coordinate our night actions. Especially, since we should expect there to be fairly limited town power because of the possibility for town power to increase as the game goes on.

There's also a reasonable chance that that mod would have picked spirit - creature pairs that make sense in light of the source material. In which case, it would make sense for us to do a name claim. Could someone familiar with the source material comment on the possibility of that being the case?

Junpei wrote:What's the most important trait to have in a mafia game?

I don't know what the most important one is, but these days I'm trying to avoid getting sucked into the vortex of confirmation-bias.

Ghostlin wrote:Consistency in the game is the most important trait as a mafia player

But consistency for the sake of being consistent is quite scummy.

@Junpei: hmm didn't see that question. Most important trait in a mafia game would be interest imo. Otherwise you wont/can't be bothered to put in any effort.

Zdenek's second paragraph of 35 sounds pretty sensible. I don't know too much about the first one though. I'm just thinking it gives scum the targets.

Only if you give a shit what people think. I'm talking read and accusation consistency, not playing exactly the same way all the time.

Tell me what you mean by this. Wouldn't reads (and by extension accusations) change over time?

I think the most important trait is self-assurance. I dont think its good to second guess yourself too much. I also believe in GUT.

I have never believed that early massclaims are a good idea even in a smaller game.

Yes, but there's an evolution involved. One doesn't go Person A is scum and Person B is town, wait now Person B is scum without some kind of proof or defining process in between.

How much is too much? Seems like an arbitrary rule if you can't define that at least.

Ghostlin, give me one good reason not to vote bv310 right now.
