Possibly lynches don't flip either?

Is this balanced -- even for the Serial Killer -- and all factions have a plausible wincon?

Third Party Vengeance
Setup:

  • 2
    Mafia Goons

  • 1
    Vengeful 1-Shot Serial Killer

  • 3
    Vanilla Townies

Game Mechanics:

  • The Serial Killer is a normal 1-Shot Serial Killer, with it's only goal is to be the last to survive. However, if the Serial Killer is lynched at any point in the game, it has a 1-Shot Vengekill ability. If, when used, this ability causes either of the other factions -- Town or Mafia -- to win, the Serial Killer is the one who is left standing. If, when used, this ability does not cause either of the other factions -- Town or Mafia -- to win, then the Serial Killer does indeed lose.

No.. that second setup is awful. If only the hammering VT wins then there is ZERO reason to vote at all for town. In fact it makes it impossible to win if you vote first.

First setup is also bad. in 6p lylo town has to lynch MAFIA, not SK, or it's game over. No room for error what so ever.

i suggest making both town win and continue on....

and i assume day will go like this:
person 1: hi
person 2: yo
person 3: sup

10 days later
no lynch

I still maintain this would be a sick open setup.

10 vT
1 pgo
2 goons with a 1-shot factional daykill that doesn't trigger the PGO, along with regular nightkill

Though open stuff needed permissions to be run in the open queue?
and i don't want to waste a mini theme queue wait on that

11:2 isn't a particularly fun play balance; both scum and town get demoralised after a while, unless there's a scumflip early (then it's just scum who get demoralised).

Hi guys, I'm setting up a ventrilo server for MS with a mafiabot, and I'm looking for like fiveish 6-8p OPEN setups that would be good and balanced for voicechat. One or two with unique roles and mechanics would be cool.

Throw your suggestions at me.

Let's see, with those numbers, you're going to want 2:4 to 2:6, which means that you're going to need a lot of town power.

The "standard" 2:4 is nightless white flag, which makes for a neat mountainous game, if you want something simple. Likewise, for 2:5 there's 7P vengeful (5 Vengeful Townies who can only make their vengekill in 5p lylo, 1 Goon, 1 Godfather who automatically loses his faction the game if he gets lynched, but not if he gets vengekilled), most of the small doc/cop setups (3 VT, doc, macho cop, 2 goons is reasonable).

For weird mechanics, Nomination Mafia has been cut down all the way to 7p because it was townsided with more players. (Basically, it's a 2:5 alternates between day phases where town can lynch anyone, and night phases where people can still talk but must lynch from a pool of 3 players chosen by the scum, which might or might not contain any actual scum. Scum can daytalk as well as nighttalk.) And Fight or Flight is a 2:5 with no regular nightkill, with every single player having a 1-shot commute (action immunity for the night) and 1-shot vig.

1 GF
1 traitor (mafia who can't NK/doesn't know GF vice versa)
2 Vanilla Town
1 miller (not told miller; dies as miller)
1 town cop

Not a competitively viable setup but good for fun perhaps?

If none of the scum know each other, there are no associative tells, and you don't really have an informed minority.

Epicmafia didn't suffer from the fun factor with that. I don't know though, the setup looked fun to me.

You could just make the traitor a mafia goon and the miller flip as a mafia goon.

I guess for 6p, nightless with a town power role would work. Perhaps 3 VT + 1 Governor vs. 2 Goons (no NK); most power roles don't work so well in a nightless game.

Quiet, Knave 6p

1 Town Silencer
3 Vanillas
2 Goons

Additional information:
*Nightless (no NK)
*Mafia do not have daytalk.
*Town Silencer: Once in the game, you may PM the mod with the name of the person who you wish to silence. Until a lynch has occured, that player must not talk and can only communicate through the chat box via text.
