Sorry, but it only takes watching one high elo stream for an hour to call bullshit on that.

EDIT: damn you, editing your post after I reply to it. XD

I pretty much agree with the rest of it but I don't see any point in being nice to someone who's being an asshat to me. I very much live by eye-for-an-eye morality. <.<

Nothing's sweeter than being trashtalked at by my enemy when losing and then, when we're razing their base and burning their ancient, forcestaffing said enemy out of the base and murdering him... slowly...

Yeah, that's the other thing about trashtalk -- sometimes revenge is a lot sweeter if you just let your actions do the talking instead. There's nothing quite like the sudden silence in all chat after the enemy trashtalker dies 5 times in a row.

I like you, JD, but the white knighting of internet strangers on this and the previous page is getting tiresome fast.

Internet gamers have thick skin. They can handle it (or at least report it), I promise.

The community sucks. Don't make it worse.

Also, don't ever pull the "i like you but this is getting tiresome" excuse with me because there is actually no comparable turn of phrase that annoys me more (but that's a more minor and nitpicky point).

You can say whatever you want about it and of course it doesn't work in organized play, but something as simple as '/all I bet that GP is saying "I told you so" now' can set off a chain reaction that will start the other team infighting and bring you closer to victory.
Yes, I think most of the people who play this game are giant manbabies who can't admit their own mistakes. I always admit my faults, and one of them: not being the nicest guy in a game of league.

Or you could try improving your own game and try to win honestly instead of trying to be an asshole and ruin the other team's experience for your own gain. Hint: you're not stuck at 800 elo because you're not shit-talking enough.

oh ok ty panzer/ray. (sorry if that sounded snarky, I seriously had no clue what he was saying)

that may very well have been the case, but in the part you (hito) quoted I wasn't even talking about him specifically.

my point in the post as a whole was less "rawr trashtalking is only okay if the other team starts it" and more "stop white knighting internet strangers, it's kind of nauseating"

oh. that's awkward.

it comes across as white-knighting people who get trashtalked/way outplayed by people with silly builds when you write a whole wall of text about a behavior that is never going to stop/get on someone's case for bad behavior as if you're completely immune to it.

People like to stroke their own egos. They do it quite frequently and in a number of ways that vary widely in annoyance/asshole factor. Writing huge ass posts about why it's bad doesn't tell anyone anything they don't already know,
and
just makes you look like you're trying to show everyone how much of a gentleman you are for doing it relatively less. I outright refuse to believe that anyone is completely innocent of that sort of behavior and so it just rings phony and annoying. I refuse to not call that bullshit out.

can we go back to theorycrafting posts and whining about the latest buffs/nerfs plskthx? it doesn't get people's panties in quite so large a wad and doesn't usually end in people calling each other names.

Haha, I'm not stuck at 800 elo, I take WILD swings up and down, go on huge win/loss streaks, play drunk, generally don't really care about it. Then I decide I do care about it and play all 100% super serious for a few days, go up 400 elo and then blast back down when I get bored of tryharding and having to play wetnurse to a bunch of inflammatory retards. This game is actually the same all the way from 0 to 1600 as far as I can tell from my own experience, I have a friend who's an almighty 2k elo and his games are the trolliest of them all. I was STUCK at like 1050, literally every game was alternating win/loss, but then I finally broke through to the 900s and easily lose more than I win. I was STUCK at 500 when I literally could not win a game and went on the dreaded 9-loss streak. Those generally seem to be my breakpoints, I get down so low where it honestly comes down to "is any other player trying to win besides you", or I get up to "average" elo and have to play carry or jungle a lot, which I suck at, so I float back down to where I can 1v5 as blitz or cassi.

It's just a number :) my normals elo is shit too, like 50 more losses than wins. I don't get worked up about it, solo queue is SUCH a different game, but I still think it's an interesting challenge. I've lent my account to people who wanted to see just how bad it is at 600 or 800 or wherever I am, they always come back with a newfound respect for the guys that slog their way up and down the 7 layers.

I'm generally a fun and chill guy to play normals with but if people are gonna run their mouths, hell I type pretty fast. Have a vodka on me everyone.

I find it ironic that someone who took great pride in shit-talking and generally calling other scummers terrible whilst inhousing is so vehemently against shit-talking in queue.

Yeah, I know. No worries. I usually end up editing my posts a kajillion times after submitting because I don't like proofreading/double-checking to make sure I actually make sense (or cuz I'm over-the-top about trying to have clarity. Like this edit.)

(the lack of edit in mafia games always made my posts take foreverrrrrrrrrr to submit 3 sentences, back when I still played. Sometimes I'd get lynched by active spammy people for it. "STOP LURKING SCUM ASGASLKDGJ" x_x)

EDIT: I even had to edit this for a typo. Goddamnit.

Anyhow, my point still stands. Trashtalk is useless. In an inhouse, it's different, since most of that is done in fun (even the casted stuff where we make fun of people is never done maliciously). In solo-q, responding to trashtalk with trashtalk, instead of the ignore button, is giving your opponent a psychological advantage that makes you concentrate less on the things that are actually important (like CSing)

I love you guys. I love my teammates.

I may some mean things now and then when I lose my cool, but I don't mean them. I appreciate each and every one of you, despite our differences.

Let's cut through the shit and just make a hug circle.
don't you feel silly now?
