I like you, JD, but the white knighting of internet strangers on this and the previous page is getting tiresome fast.

Internet gamers have thick skin. They can handle it (or at least report it), I promise.

The community sucks. Don't make it worse.

Also, don't ever pull the "i like you but this is getting tiresome" excuse with me because there is actually no comparable turn of phrase that annoys me more (but that's a more minor and nitpicky point).

lil g wrote:Whats the number one reason a game is lost? Not working together.
Sow a seed of discontent among a bunch of delusional egomaniacs who are convinced that every loss is the other 4 peoples' fault and what do you get? People not working together.
You can say whatever you want about it and of course it doesn't work in organized play, but something as simple as '/all I bet that GP is saying "I told you so" now' can set off a chain reaction that will start the other team infighting and bring you closer to victory.
Yes, I think most of the people who play this game are giant manbabies who can't admit their own mistakes. I always admit my faults, and one of them: not being the nicest guy in a game of league.

Or you could try improving your own game and try to win honestly instead of trying to be an asshole and ruin the other team's experience for your own gain. Hint: you're not stuck at 800 elo because you're not shit-talking enough.

I find it ironic that someone who took great pride in shit-talking and generally calling other scummers terrible whilst inhousing is so vehemently against shit-talking in queue.

Manner the fuck down son we're on the internet now.

Seriously the cognitive dissonance between people wishing the solo queue wasn't full of flaming assholes and people seeing nothing wrong with shit talking or trolling is astonishing.

Ooookay so I obviously missed something while shooting and stabbing and stabbing stuff, but this argument was ass-backwards retarded. One thing, though: JD SAID that he was a dick while casting those inhouses and he said that it was bad-mannered, too. Imho, it was only a dick move because everyone hadn't agreed to JD doing it beforehand, because I couldn't give less shits about someone I know laughig about my mistakes/still seeing the worst possible side in my BIG PLAYS because I know that someone else is having fun with it and I don't mind; I also find JD's sarcastic-casting to be way more entertaining than his professional casting (probably because I watch JD's stream for fun, not for learning new things).

I just thought since everyone was watching/commenting on the CLG/TSM game that Studio was the featured caster for, I would drop a link to his site which is a really cool and informative site, and he is a genuinely nice and helpful guy. I'm totally new to this site so I didn't know if it's bad manners here to post a link that I thought was conversationally relevant. I didn't mean to be adbotting, I'm in no way affiliated with him or would get anything out of anyone going to his site, I just thought "Hey these people like League, this is a great League site". Sorry if that was rude, out of all the things I say to get a rise out of people, that wasn't one of them. I'm also a little surprised at the outcry against mindgaming and trashtalking from a bunch of backstabbing mafia players, but maybe it's the site culture I'm not used to yet.
There are people I choose not to play with but I don't have a personal problem with anyone over a game. Anyway I don't want to argue on the internet so I apologize for the shitstorm and that's the last I'll say on it. Start Amp Tome.

Go away.

Seriously if you're shocked and awed that not everyone enjoys ceaseless shit talking then go play solo queue some more until you realize how fucking retarded the average LoL player sounds.

I don't think that's what he was saying TBM, he was just making the comparison to mafia, since that is a bit of a mindgame. And he said a "little" surprised, not "shocked and awed" :/

Also Grahm is making himself sound way worse than he actually is.
Every game I've played with him, he never trashtalks. He's not the "GG NOOBS" or "lol scrubs you suck" kind of guy, he ends up bashing himself more than anything.

heyyyyyyy this is really funny coming from you, considering most of your posts are you being a dick to random scummers and now you're riding someone's ass over being a dick to random LoL players.

I mean, hey, if we're going to quote people:

You don't have room to talk anyone down for being a cunt and neither does pretty much anyone else in the last 3-4 pages of this thread, so maybe we can all collectively shut the fuck up and talk about something that isn't going to get reduced to dick-waving?

Trying to stop an argument over who is and is not a complete cunt by being more of one than anyone in the argument is not a good way of defusing a situation. You've spent an awful lot of time riding my ass for "white knighting" and getting all indignant when anyone says anything you disagree with (something which ruined a lot of the later pages of the mass effect thread when you freaked out over people not liking the ending) while "white knighting" yourself, so perhaps it would be better for everyone if (and I know that this is a hard to understand concept) you actually just said "I'm not going to argue this anymore, this is pointless" instead of continuing to make inflammatory and hypocritical posts that undermine the very point you are trying to make.

Now, back to business.

Have some mlg champion pick stats.

Soraka and Janna most picked champions so far at MLG; this further cements their status as top 2 supports. Janna is still insanely strong (note that some of her picks are as AP mid as well, so it's deceptive); Soraka will fall victim to Sona syndrome where she'll either be nerfed to near-total shit or is in need of a rework.

Graves most picked AD carry not really all that surprising - he has excellent synergy with Soraka (somewhat diminished by buckshot changes) due to her further buffing his own innate tankiness and ensuring that he can just spam buckshots at whatever he wishes to.

Nautilus continues to prove an incredibly strong pick; I wish I could find ban #s cause I'm pretty sure his combined pick+ban is close to Janna/Soraka's. Morg is still proving a popular pick but her win rate thus far is kind of subpar; if you watch (I genuinely forget which game it was, might have been vs TD) the game where scarra got Ryze vs a Morg after forcing a Cass ban, you'll notice how much pressure he was able to easily put on her and bully her around. These repeated, slow nerf cycles are not being kind to her and more importantly making people fail to notice how unkind they are.

Very, very excited and looking forward to waking up for the next round of matches in ~7 hours. CLG.NA vs CLG.EU stands out as the match to watch among the first two, although fnatic vs TD will not be disappointing by any means. Those two matches alone combined with the fact that we're guaranteed a TSM/Dignitas match means that tomorrow stands to be one of the best days competitive League of Legends has seen yet.

JD: Okay, you're welcome to your opinion (though I'll point out that -I- dropped it quite intentionally, with jokes and monkey pictures and everything, and then buttons here just
had
to put his two cents in with the same holier-than-thou attitude I was trying to get people not to have at each other). I guess I shouldn't expect the scumchat posse to know how to not chest-thump at every available opportunity, at least where the forum is concerned. Most of you are quite nice on LoL actually and I really don't get why you guys feel like you have to bully people into acting like you want them to all the time when it comes to GD/62. I like to think this community is welcoming and accepting and then you guys pull shit like this on lil g, who really doesn't deserve anything near the amount of vitriol he got. (Listen to Brandi if you won't listen to me; he really is an okay guy.) And yeah, I get kind of bitchy when my friend is getting attacked completely disproportionately. Tough shit, everyone else here gets butthurt over their friends getting yelled at, too. This is not unique to me and no amount of petty name-calling and hypocrisy is going to make me rescind my opinion.
tl;dr
EVERYONE HERE IS FUCKING MAD ALL THE TIME, MAN. MAYBE WE SHOULD ALL TAKE A CHILL PILL OR SOMETHING.

On topic:

I'm kind of surprised there weren't more blitzcrank picks. I don't really follow streams all that often but every time I glance at the high elo spectate matches available it seems like there's a blitz support in 2-3/5 games. And usually when I check the player's elo it's something like 1800+. Is the difference between 1800-2100+ really that much? Is someone at high elo on record as stating "x y and z is why no one plays blitzcrank"? I've been playing him a lot lately so it'd probably be enlightening.

It's pretty obvious at least why Soraka and Janna are top picks. Soraka gives heals and mana to rectify any mistakes made in lane, which are already going to be relatively few at high elo. Janna can shield and zone with her CC.

Morg continuing to get banned/picked isn't really surprising to me but yeah, the spell vamp nerf definitely hurt her. I'm nowhere near pro level play but she seems a lot easier to counter now. Even if she gets nerfed more and the pros stop picking/banning her I bet she'll still get banned/picked constantly at lower elo, unless they change her E. For people with less map awareness the E just makes her nigh ungankable in lane and that's kind of a big deal when you're a baddie and have no idea that enemy lee sin was about to leap onto your face.

Blitzcrank sees a lot of play in solo queue for two easy to diagnose reasons. #1, he's one of the most impactful supports, which means that the player playing support has more chances to influence the outcome of the game. Because of this, people who end up playing supports in solo queue (a large number of which aren't necessarily jumping at the chance to do so) tend towards Blitzcrank in order to give themselves more of an impact on the game.

#2, Blitzcrank is fun. See: above on supports; not everyone finds standard support play fun (a large portion of which comes from the fact that they don't understand it properly and/or poor lane partners - the #1 reason I gave up on playing support was a series of increasingly frustrating lane partners making it impossible to do anything to impact the game. Also, people not buying wards).

The issue with Blitz then becomes one of risk/reward - a Blitzcrank is entirely built around risk/reward. A good Blitz hook can win a game and a bad Blitz hook can lose a game - this is a tantalizing prospect to your normal everyday solo queue player, and a terrible prospect to a serious tournament team that wants to avoid that sort of risk. The only risks you'll generally see big teams make is one with a low risk for a high reward, or one where the min/max for it would make them outright foolish to not take said risk. Blitz hooks are not one of these things except in certain incredibly niche situations.

Couple that with the fact that supports are popular early picks because they're hard to counterpick - a Blitz can be counterpicked by just picking shit that either escapes easily or doesn't necessarily mind being hooked into the enemy team (Alistar comes most to mind).

Esurio wrote:It's pretty obvious at least why Soraka and Janna are top picks. Soraka gives heals and mana to rectify any mistakes made in lane, which are already going to be relatively few at high elo.

Soraka does not exist as a pick in high elo for mistake mitigation - a Janna is actually going to be a better bet for getting your carry out of a bad situation 80% of the time. A Soraka exists as a pick when you want your AD carry to be able to pressure the enemy AD heavily. The thing about Soraka is that she lends really, really well to prolonged pressure on an enemy laner. Her heal over time will naturally lead to a health advantage for your side of the lane - combine that with her burst heal potential and her global presence, and those are the reasons why she's a popular pick. Soraka/Graves is an excellent example of this lane - yes, it has burst off of the Graves, but the constant Q spam supported by the Soraka mana refill will eventually whittle the other side down for either a kill or a farm advantage.

Esurio wrote:Janna can shield and zone with her CC.

Outside of a teamfight, Janna does not die unless she messes up. She is a swiss army knife of utility; her shield is a massive steroid, and she's the whore queen of escapes as far as assists go. Zoning is not the major thing - the fact that she can lock someone down for unanswered damage buffed by a damage steroid combined with a shield is.

What the fuck buttons is like the nicest guy. I've made him rage but that was when I was raging at him and everyone snaps eventually under those conditions.

For me its a question of sportsmanship and what is appropriate behaviour. I don't think it's appropriate behaviour to join games with the intention of spoiling other people's fun or winding them up. I also dont think that it's appropriate to talk shit to some random stranger who you never met and doing so in any other context than online gaming would be shocking to most of the people that participate in it if they heard it in other contexts.

BUT OH WELL ITS THE INTERNET GROW THICKER SKINS

Pretty unimpressed with how MLG treats the players when they're playing here. No bathroom breaks, don't let them get set up before starting and force them to start with non-operational stuff or be disqualified, and, in general, force them to play at clear disadvantages.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
