You basically put the subject and the verb at the end of phrase instead of the beginning. Unfortunately this means you always have to have a verb and a subject, so you can't say things like "How's it going" without changing it to "Doing well, are you?"

"it" is the subject and "did is the verb" so I'd say so.

Though, "it" is a pronoun to the subject "sentences", so if I were Yoda I'd say "Ran backward till they reeled the mind, the sentences did", but if Yoda wanted to be exceptionally complicated, he could say your version.
