Is there anybody here who really wants the spoilered sigs and would not be content with unacceptably long sigs being nuked?

The main problem with that is that nuking sigs on a case by case basis takes up the time of admins.

Having a blanket system where the limits and boundaries are known, whereas it might be more controversial at first, will undoubtedly be beneficial in the long run.

As long as they make it an option to turn off spoilering, I have zero problems with the way it works.

exactly. It is really really annoying to have to press show on everybody's sig. In fact it actually is sort of a pseudo ban on sigs over 4 lines long sense no one is willing to show every single one.

But you are right, there aren't clear rule on what is and isn't allowed. That's what I thought all of this mod reform would bring. Unfortunately it just got more convoluted. Standardizing rules and explicitly stating what is and is not appropriate would be better than changing people's names to blue and saying, "hurp durp mod powers!"

@ani, I don't see why they spoilered sigs then. You can all ready turn them off so if you don't like them then you have that choice. If you do like them then you can choose to view them. I don't understand the problem that got fixed.

Because the link wasn't SFW, which is where I believe a good percentage of our users browse from at least some point. I didn't think the "hah gaaay." link was bad (although I see the reasoning at this point) but a link wallpapering "FUCK THE SYSTEM" across your entire screen is different from the word "fuck" being in text somewhere on the screen.

We will never be able to draw the line between acceptable and unacceptable to the satisfaction of all. If you have a specific proposition on how to create a ruleset that more effectively outlines the boundaries of admissible posting than the current rules and guidelines, we will be more than happy to consider your input, but as it stands, we see the further clarification of the rules as a time-consuming and ultimately futile venture that only adds more bureaucracy, not any more clarity to the process of moderation.

Like I said, though, we welcome any specific suggestions.

New option (which disables all color/bold) is on by default. I didn't touch your sig, you just need to go turn it off if you want to see any color/bolding in sigs. Hopefully that makes you less upset.
