lately i've been dodging a lot of ranked. It sucks. Every game today has been absolutely 100% "have to dodge", or a completely just bad team stomping. It's really tough to get better when you are either banned or getting rolled out cause everyone beside you has 5 deaths

Even if you're 1900 material getting there from 1200 with a 60% winrate and an average of 10 elo per match.
700 elo to be gained = [10(.6)+ -10(.4)]x games

x = 350 games
If you have a 55% winrate it'd take you 1400 games. A 55% winrate is pretty good.

SO, Curse and Dignitas apparently "fixed" the match for Curse to win and planned to split the pot 50/50.

That or they just got DQ'd for splitting the pot. Noone said much about the details. Either way, MLG said the entire venue knew about it because it was discussed in public. Details, Reck. Details.

If it was planned then that sucks, if they just decided to split the pot then I fail to see any issues.

MLG had eyewitnesses from the restaurant where it was planned; Dignitas were (and still are now) 300 points ahead of Curse in the Season 2 rankings, so they agreed to let Curse win to extend their lead over 5th place, and share the money from 1st and 2nd place. Plus there was the whole ARAM in the grand finals thing which (regardless of what MLG staffers have said) probably would have seen them DQ'd regardless because of the necessity to agree to do such a thing beforehand.

I'm really disappointed with Curse and Dig at MLG. That kind of stuff is really holding e-sports back, and it made both teams look like a bunch of unprofessional adolescents.

I'm really disappointed with Curse and Dig at MLG. That kind of stuff is really holding e-sports back, and it made both teams look like a bunch of unprofessional adolescents.

When it happened in Brood War with the whole sAviOr incident, those involved all received lengthy (if not lifetime) bans from KeSPA. The fact that the only sanctions against Curse and Dignitas is barely even a slap on the wrist in comparison is the most disappointing thing in all this, as is the fact that it was widely known before the final even started and they still played it out. Both teams should at the least have been banned from the next Season 2 Circuit event. As it is, they pretty much get what they wanted in the first place - Dignitas are still comfortably 3rd, Curse are still comfortably 4th. The money lost isn't huge compared to other events on the circuit, either.

I don't know what the big deal is here. People split gaming tournaments all the time. This prize money is their well-being(along with streaming revenue), so why not work deals to ensure you are getting money? Sucks the the finals wasn't "good tv" but there were plenty of other matches that either team played that were watchable.

The reason that prize money exists and can be their livelihood is because people enjoy watching them play League of Legends. If they start blatantly fixing matches, people no longer watch these tournaments, the tournaments no longer get sponsors, and the prize money no longer exists. If they want to get paid, they need to do what they're getting paid to do.
