I got so sick of all the bugs and glitches and I am so convinced it's not my computer, internet, or settings, I completely wiped LOL and am doing a fresh install. The patcher is still a buggy piece of shit and I should be back in the game just in time for the hurricane to wipe out all my crops and alpaca herd.

i'm playing arams to practice general teamfight mechanics/analyze champion interactions i don't normally see

so far i have gotten trundle, skarner, taric, and nasus, also known as "the RNG's cosmic joke" and "things shanba plays"

uhm, following on that, ranked game, just below 1200 elo. Bans as usual, they first pick orianna. I pick taric, next dude graves. I fear I didn't pay enough attention to the chat at some point, that could have warned me. Anyway, they pick fiora and blitz. Which is all great, we know their solo lanes, can counter that. So, third guy for us picks malphite and fourth locks in jungle nunu, leaving only our mid pick. Malphite to counter fiora sounds like a good idea. AS slows hurt her damage a lot and malph is free to stack armor. They pick diana and complete their bot-blitz with ashe, which looks good, right? Taric/graves vs blitz/ashe, this could be fun. Leaving only our mid pick to counter orianna. Apparently he's not really comfortable with mid, so his first option is to play leblanc. After a bit of talking he says he plays ahri as well, and we convince him that's probably better.

So, in short: ori, fiora, blitz, ashe and diana against ahri, malph, graves, taric and nunu.

We invade, and fail rather miserably because we didn't stay together as a team and trade two for one? Something like that. Anyway, walking back bot, malph is there with graves. He has a dorans shield, and then the question is raised by ahri: "who's top?". And this is the thing that should have rang some alarms in the early game chat, while we were busy with convincing our mid to pick ahri over lb etc. Malph called ap support bot.

Anyway, top taric with full defensive runes and masteries against fiora proved fun, as she at the start didn't realize how tanky I was, and at lv6 I managed to win the duel by keeping my shield up long enough to bait her ult which came short. In the end we inevitably lost, but it still leaves me with a question: what the hell happened in this game?

What happened is you got dicked by your team in champion select and either thought you could win or didn't realize it. Smiteless jungle, AP malphite forcing graves to split farm, had to argue with your mid pregame. Should of dodged. Your team then decided to feed while you were on a very weird pick and still managed 50 more farm then your ad carry(you also had the most farm in the game). You can't carry a game with Taric.

A) Try as hard as possible to not support if you're solo. You have the least control over the game. If you end up supporting, pick Blitz, Alistar, maybe taric, maybe leona. (In order to feed your carry kills with someone that isn't these 4 you have to be a very good support.) So if you get stuck there and you aren't a siginificantly better support then most at your elo, try to stick to those 4 to have the biggest impact on the game.

B) If you're duo and have to support, pick a support that helps your duo partner. Your duo plays bruisers? Pick Lulu. Your duo plays AP mid? Soraka, Lulu. Your duo doesn't have an initiate and isn't a brusier? pick a support with an initiate.

C) Games rarely don't turn out the way you think they will in champion select(Doomy not withstanding). Dodge games that look bad. Your game lasted 29:31 and took 11 elo. so by the time you took that screenshot and lamented your loss, your dodge timer would have been over and you wouldn't have lost any elo

D) Don't pick champs that can't carry with limited help from your teammates. Riven, Jayce, Olaf. Swain, Morde. Ashe, Graves, EZ.
