To be fair, being that bug splatted person and reconnecting near the end is the worst feeling in the world.
I was bugsplatted as Varus and reconnected after twenty five minutes. We were getting our asses handed to us, and I was failing at farming to start with. Luckily I dragged myself to level 13, hit a couple of useful ults and we won, but throughout the match it was VARUS SUCKS and REPORT VARUS. It sucks balls.Trans rights are human rights.- Bub Bidderskins

I really enjoy playing support, and I do think you can carry a game from there, even if you are Soraka. Placing wards, getting objective timers, and keeping everybody's bars nice and full really helps your whole team. Yeah, if you're on a team full of baddies then you're screwed, but you're kind of screwed no matter what you play as if you're on a team full of baddies. And if you are competent as support, it's a lot better to play support than force somebody who hates playing support to support.

If I play ranked (which I've been considering doing lately), it will be as support probably 90% of the time. I'm a terrible farmer, and don't have the time or desire to practice last hitting, so I stick with jungle/support for the most part. I'm better at support than jungle, typically, and so will be doing that and seeing how far it takes me. PARTY.Current Avatar: Kronk. Duh.- xRECKONERx

My good mood was just ruined.
In team select, I thought things were okay. Everyone was cordial, we coordinated trades and everything. I'm mid, they pick a Heimerdinger, so I pick up Gragas. Seems pretty simple. When we get to game, even though Maokai is DC'd and gets to his blue late, I still help him leash and superman it and everything. It's all cool... but Malphite is mid and Heimer goes top to avoid me. Okay, no problem, I can outfarm the Malphite. I proceed to outfarm him, at least 10cs up for the first 8 minutes.
Vayne gets first blood bot lane, which is cool. Then our Tree goes to counterjungle their Fiora. He pings for Vayne and Soraka to go to the enemy red buff, which involves them walking *right past the enemy Sona*. I ping for them to fall back and Maokai says not to fucking ping him. Malphite leaves lane and I call MIA. They keep taking red. Lo and behold, Fiora, Sona, Draven, and Malphite all show up and they feed Malphite two kills and an assist. I still don't rage, I don't say anything, I just tell Maokai he needs to try and have oracles before he counterjungles so that we have map control.
Well, this 2/0/1 Malphite comes back to lane, and even though I'm about 15cs up at this time, he comes back to lane with Sorc's Shoes, Chalice, and a D-Ring. I haven't been back yet, but I manage to kill him (minions get me though) and so I go back and pick up two D-Rings and Sorc's Shoes. At this point I'm 1/1/0, Malphite is 2/1/1, and I'm ahead in farm. Not a big deal. I decide to just stay under my tower and outfarm him since he got those kills at red earlier...well, Fiora dives me on my tower with Malphite while my Maokai is taking wraiths. I try to ping and then kite around the tower and I get both Malph & Fiora down to a sliver of health, but still die. Maokai doesn't follow up at all.
Instead, he proceeds to RAGE at me about how terrible I am and how I'm a feeder and how I need to learn to farm in shitty lanes. I point out that I was up in farm and winning my lane until he foolishly tried to counterjungle and got three people killed. Then our Darius (who has been top lane the entire game) tells me to swap lanes with him, so I do, and he immediately runs into lane and dies to Malphite, then goes into /all and goes "GG FEEDER NOOB GRAGAS CANT FARM". I had more farm than the rest of the game at that point. You can imagine how the rest of the game went.green shirt thursdays- quadz08

If you and your team is under 1600 ELO, you ARE on a team full of baddies. Let's say I'm any non-support on Blue and you are Soraka on Purple. The longer the game goes, the more scaling and gold matter. Supports should almost always have the lowest gold total and you are normally building utility and not damage or TOO much resilience. So you aren't gonna heal a single target for much more than 850 unless you have invested a significant amount of money to AP. With Jayce at 25-30 minutes I'm doing similar amount of damage with my poke(while soraka probably isn't even 16 yet to heal that much). Soraka can't initiate. She doesn't lend much damage, and she really doesn't mitgate that much damage, and she doesn't peel for the carry. You can take timirs and ward objectives as any champion. After laning Soraka falls off kinda hard. She is fantastic in lane though, and definitely can lead to a well won lane, but for the mid and late game, you're handing the reigns over to others, and if you are mechanically better than where you are placed, you shouldn't hand the deciding of the game over to people that are mechanically inferior to you.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.- Andrius

This. Just play smart.
Its different in lanes where you're hard countered, etc.

I really hope you're joking.
Its funny because this happened last night. >_______>

This. The thing about top is one someone gets a kill or two (or four) they can turn a hard counter lane into something insanely awesome. So you go up and gank something, it either dies or blows flash. If the former, go clear a camp and sit in their riverbush. When they come back with a ward (and 7/10 times they will) you kill them again. Put them on tilt. If its the latter then you just try again.
You're absolutely right- you find an advantage and use it. There was one game we laneswapped just so we could "share" the kills on a couple dumbies in botlane since the people botlane were getting diminishing returns on killing them etc.
g is still the best sona.
I still stand by BT being a better second item than PD in those circumstances."This is the true face of a man who plays paladin."- PJ.

IMO best generic AD build is Zerks + 2 Dorans -> Vamp + IE -> Zeal -> finish BT or PD situationally -> GA -> finish whichever one of BT/PD you skipped. Obviously you're going to prioritise items differently on certain champs, and then you have Corki and Ez who want a Trinity in there at some point and Kog/Vayne who want their on-hit shit proc'ing as often as possible, but it's hard to go wrong with that.- Andrius

BT was better for sustain especially for the 4 minutes we all sat around mid (without Shen ofc) trading with each other.
BT also synergizes with her ult. And it DOES make a difference when most of their team could get dropped from 70% with that deal.
Yes, I realize that PD is great. And no I don't rememeber exactly what happened the entire time. But I stand by the decision because at that point we weren't getting into straight-up fights. Had we jumped straight into that it would have been a PD. But we were at the end of laning phase when I got my BT and our botlane was about outsustaining the enemy botlane that had none and doing "tons of damage".
Besides, taking their Katarina from 1K to 0HP in one hit was the best."This is the true face of a man who plays paladin."- CityElectric

Well, part of it is that at my level if you don't pick support then the guy who is support will steal CS and literally not ward.ShowTotal: 16/15/1

Is it just me or is Darius really not as OP as advertised? Maybe it's just cho being a hard counter, but it certainly seems like the rage over him is unjustified.- CityElectric

It would have been funny had it not actuallyhappened.
edit: That's because midlane has less ground to cover- so you can easily run back to the tower.
So if you scrub something you're done. Namely Olaf's Axe. >_>"This is the true face of a man who plays paladin."- TheButtonmen

Midlane is a harder gank due to the geopgraphy but an easier gank due to the general ability of AP heroes to output a lot of front loaded damage. Mid is also unique rewarding to gank due to the meta of butting your AP character mid who when they get ahead can go roam themselves with their burst damage and CC. It also depends on the context of the team, I tend to focus a lot of my ganks on mid during some scumchat games because if Patrick with his skill/preferred heroes gets ahead he's able to completely dominate games.Last edited by TheButtonmen on Mon Oct 29, 2012 9:42 am, edited 1 time in total.Routine day with a dirt cheap brush
