Heart of Gold – Removed

Heart of Gold is a deeply conflicted item. Gold over Time items are designed to be a tradeoff of early game power versus reliable scaling further on in the game. However, Heart of Gold is a Health item, a statistic that is primarily dominant early game rather than late game. It helps create a lot to passivity, but worst of all it contributes to passive snowballing. While the intent of the item was to help out gold-starved characters that were traditionally weak, there are much better ways to solve this than an item that also makes their direct competitors stronger.

Alternative: The other Gold per 10 items

We don’t want to see an item in the game that lets you passively win your lane and close off options for your opponent. The other 3 Gold per 10 items have all been upgraded with either much more flexible build paths in terms of what they can build into or additional ways to generate real and imagined incomes. From Gold per 10 upgrades that let you keep the Gold per 10 when fully upgraded to alternate gold gain passives, the other 3 Gold per 10 items have become much more flexible in their final builds.

I'd think not - you can only have 2 out, but when those 2 run out, you can place 2 more before going back to base.

God damn it, do people need to learn that it is not always the most important thing to jump onto the enemy carry, but to protect your own first. Like in my last game just now. Mao and fiora always jumped through their team onto vayne, lulu and ryze in the back. Instead of protecting our mega uber fed Ezreal from olaf and shyvanna. Sona and Brand is not enough. We wrecked the couple teamfigths when they did. But lost because of those in which they didn't. So sad.

I don't usually do/endorse the whole "look how great I am/did" posts, but I just feel to high right now to care so I'll indulge myself:

The Road to Gold

It all started off when Nuwen wanted to duo queue with me rather than 5v5 with scummers for "teh rewards n prestige." This was an entire year ago (late November). We were a pretty silver tier duo, had like a 50% win rate and hovered between 1350 and 1450. Finally almost half a year later we got gold, and then some. We went all the way up to 1560, but it was Memorial day week-end and we were bored. Figuring we had some elo to burn, we hit up solo queue.

We lost match after match. Scrub *** teenagekids on their day off and we went on tilt. We kept wanting to "not end on that note" maybe 7-10 losses in a row later we were in the low 1400s.

It took us months to get back up to gold. Its not the easiest thing to carry yourself to if you're at borderline gold skill level, it takes a lot of luck and hope of having a team. We did our fair share, and fed our fair share, and got gold back in August.

Then GW2 came out, we stopped giving a **** at elo decayed to 1496 and 1498 respectively. The "End of season" rewards post was missed, so rather than win just a single game for gold, we decayed further to 1460s. Getting back into LoL a week or two ago, we were rusty as ***. We dropped as low as 1360, and I even took a day off work to play LoL for 12 hours straight with Stag on Nuwens account and later Nuwen, we got up to 1460 again then dropped back to 1390.

It was nerve racking, the patch might hit "at any second" and we would lose out on the gold elo we felt we had already earned (twice!) I was raging more, raging at Nuwen when it wasn't even her fault some games, and sucking it up myself. We did 3v3s for awhile with Stag, but it was either we won against scrubs or were matched against even or better players and lost, because our comp was never very synergistic and we would do dumb *** all the time. Lead to a lot of rage and us stop playing 3v3s for awhile.

Stag said "hi" last night while we were in champ select. I said "just wait for us this game we'll do something." I was fed up with solo queue, and said "**** it if we're going to get this, we'll rely on ourselves" and we queued up for 3v3s again.


A few games in, I don't remember why or where or what inspired it, Stag said "janna p. troll on this map. I feel like playing her."


And then the comp was born. I played Kha'zix, went like 13-0. Nuwen decided to play Kayle. We couldn't be stopped, we snowballed so hard.

Stag spammed Janna. I played Lee Sin, Garen, whatever snowball I wanted. We got outplayed sometimes.

But only twice. I think Stag literally went 10-2 with Janna.

And the games we DID lose? We got matched up against the SAME team the very next match

and we won both times.

It was so beautiful.

The first time it was a platinum lvl Shaco that raped our faces off early, and late we couldnt stop him from killing the Nexus with Super creeps.

Rematched, we banned Lee again hoping to try the Janna/Khaz/Kayle comp again. We saw shaco and said "OH ***" because their comp was Ahri, Shaco, (AD carry first game Corki 2nd game Ez)

I picked free week Renekton (played him maybe 3 times before). I was jungling, slow as *** and shaco was going to be able to out carry me.

Then he decieved into me at my mini golems, nuwen showed up exhausted and shat on him (She was teemo, stag was janna ofc).

We snowballed harder than they did the game before. 13-0-7 renekton later, we won. I did a bit of trashtalking cause he said he was plat in all chat, saying things like "nice juke plat" when he would try to decieve away with my reveal on him.


Was glorius.

Other team that beat us was a Nidalee that couldn't be stopped. Nid/Fiora/Darius, and we scrubbed up and got the darius fed for dumb plays. Nid then backdoored as cause no one could deal with her.

Next game we had FP, we got janna. They instalock darius/fiora again. I dont know shit about how to play NIdalee, but I took her because she was free and I didnt want a deja vu.

Nuwen went teemo.

I don't think you realize how lulzy Traps/Shrooms/Janna was, but you can imagine how hard we rolled them.

Final game to gold wasn't worth mentioning, Janna/LeeMe/Nuwen on Cait this time. It got to the point where Nuwen could just stand in their Rumble/Shyvana with janna shield and tank them. They had a Singed too.


But ah, what a journey. I still feel a lil robbed for my solo queue icon, but it was good enough just to get gold with mah friends.

Players who joined a team on or after September 1 will also need to win five games with that team in the appropriate queue (3v3 or 5v5) where they’d like to qualify for rewards.

I think this means that every single ISMETA member will also get the rewards, because they joined BEFORE Sept 1 and don't need to do anything to qualifty
