Interesting.

What do you find interesting about it?

If he is a town he has no reason to lie and he is claiming that he could be lying on first page for no reason puts me off my track's.

I'm not sure about you, but we are certainly losing something really important.
You do realize that in this set-up it's important to hide who our PR's are, don't you?
You just unnecessarily reduced one possible slot to think over as possible PR for them, unless you're scum yourself claiming to be VT. This actually increased our chances of losing our PR in first night.

You should never claim unless you're on L-1. Some even argue against that.

........apart from your trust.

Well i seem to be doing well, huh?

/sarcasm

It's not really a matter of trust, because nobody has any reason to believe your claim anyway.

The reason I say that is because Scum knows your alignment, but they don't know what KIND of town you could be. To instantly claim Vanilla is harmful in the long run because scum knows now not to kill you at night. Because you are not the Cop or Doctor pretty much by your own admission. This leaves room for them to target any other player, which exponentially increases their chances of killing our power role.

Just understand that it does town no good to mass claim so soon. As scum could say they are vanilla just as easy as town, and power roles aren't going to role claim so early and get themselves killed night 1 before they even have a chance to use their ability. So everyone will just claim Vanilla and there's now way so early to tell who's lying.

I would personally only claim my power role if I had actual information to give, or someone else requested I do so. Like, if I was the Cop, and I only had one innocent result the previous night who also happened to die, I probably wouldn't claim. Because either way it's a lose lose because sure, I survive the lynch but I'm dead come the night phase anyway so I'll never get a second investigation result anyway.

1) What draws you to play the game of Mafia? What are some of your favorite things about the game?
I don't really know...it's just a lot of fun. It's almost like playing poker.

2) Do you tend to take the game very seriously and become aggressive/defensive or do you take a light hearted approach and just go with the flow?
I take all games much more seriously than I should, and I am naturally very aggressive, which comes through in the way I play.

3) How much do you value your gut reads in comparison to another players reads? Do you tend to doubt yourself or tunnel your suspects?
We have no real evidence to go on, so gut feelings are a major part, and I never fully trust anyone else in these games, so I value my own reads above anyone else, and I doubt everything. I am always open to new ideas.

Scum may know who's town, but they don't know who has the power roles.
I get that.
But scum can't tell if my claim is true or not.
They can think I'm vanilla and let me live, but if I have a power role, I could survive and use it.
Scum still only knows as much as they did before.

I didn't really think anything needed to be added. It was dumb. I hate RC'ing at any stage, I think it detracts from the game.

Ok, first serious vote: VOTE: Xegarus

I feel like the claim is an attempt to cast doubt on his alignment early that he can point to later.

So you're voting for me because you think it MAY be useful for me, if i was scum, in the future?

So you're voting for me because i haven't done anything scummy but i may in the future?
Have you got any evidence that i may do something? Or is the RC all you're basing this off?

So why not vote for everyone? Especially those that haven't done anything scummy cause they may do something in the future.
Or are you just working your way down the list?

@Dyrynify

Also, why would pointing to an earlier claim some how magically dispell any scum like behavior in the future?
How would it be a town tell?

Your whole accusation looks like it was made for the sake of being made. If anything thats the most scummy thing to have happend so far.

Sure i made a RC early but in no way is it a scum tell and it really doesnt stand up as a town tell.

@Nacho

I understand how random questions can be a stupid thing and basically force people to post for the sake of posting. But is that really so bad early on in the game? (thats a serious question)

Also
It better not be a crap one.

I never claimed it was a good tactic, just that that what it looked like. As I mentioned, I operate mostly on gut reads. My gut tells me the only reason for a PAGE one, much less day one, claim is to try and establish doubt for your self later. From my point of view, it is a fairly scummy action. If your other comments alter my perception of you, then my vote will change.

Or are you just working your way down the list?

Voting because the choice to RC this early seems scummy to me. That answers your second question.

I do not have any evidence that you may do something in the future, since that is impossible. Time only flows one way, remember? I am indeed basing my vote on the RC. That is the only thing I have to go on.

That last bit is clearly ridiculous anger baiting. No response.

Hi everyone. :)
@kittie- I'm looking forward to this myself. ^ ^
By the way em+p is just an abbreviated name for the character Emily Parsons I used during nanowrimo. I'm not quite sure what the "dear" is there for either...whenever I join a forum, I usually just choose the first thing that pops into my head with no real significance.

Can't wait to play with everyone :D
1) What draws you to play the game of Mafia? What are some of your favorite things about the game?
It's a team game that doesn't require any athletic ability. I like playing games with other people; I think it builds friendships, but I just can't run to save my life. :P Also, you don't know for sure who's on your team, so you don't have to worry about letting anyone down if you suck.

2) Do you tend to take the game very seriously and become aggressive/defensive or do you take a light hearted approach and just go with the flow?
Yes and no. I get very over dramatic and passionate a lot of times but I don't actually hold grudges or anything. I think getting worked up over everything is part of the fun of the game itself. I just don't take anything with me outside of the game. Which is why I hope we can all be friends even if most of the time we'll be the victims of each other's game rage. :D

3) How much do you value your gut reads in comparison to another players reads? Do you tend to doubt yourself or tunnel your suspects?
I listen to my gut. Do I actually believe my own intuition is correct? Hell no I'm crazy. But I do usually go with it anyway. It just makes things easier than second-guessing yourself.

Wow. A crappy image instead of trying to actually refute my assertion, and a revenge vote with absolutely no supporting reasons? I at least had a reason for my vote, weather that reason was right or wrong.

I gotta tell ya, Xegarus, you are not doing yourself any favors. You just keep gathering scum points.

The image was to em+ for actually have no reason to vote for me other than the fact that you did.

I gave my reason for voting for you. Your vote towards me was scummy as your reason for voting was close to nonexistent and only consisted of "you RCed".

And the rest, you're just trying to fish someting out. So how many scum points do i have? Cause i bet it still doesn't even dent your score.

So, let me try to follow this;

1) I saw a scummy aspect in your post, which led me to vote you.
2) You are complaining that I voted you for very little reason.
3) You voted me, simply because you feel my vote on you was scummy.

I'm sorry, I still don't see how that was not an OMGUS vote.

And I stand by my comment about the image. A JPG is not an argument. If you have issue with how and why em+ voted, voice it in an intelligible manner. This game is about words. Lies and half truths rule here, not the person who uses Google better.

Sorry if that comes off harsh, but I expected better from a claimed law student. Words should be your bread and butter, more so even than an english major.

Wut? Making a RC early is in a long way to a scum tell. And yes, it doesn't stand up as a town tell necessarily, which is why you shouldn't have done it. I think you're one of the few here that doesn't think this is kind of scummy (or at least a bad idea), and it is a very good reason for a vote for you.

In sum, almost never RC, and never claim law student, lol.
