Thats because its scum sided by far. Town gets four mislynches (9, 8, 6, 5), which is the same as mountainous (11, 9, 7, 5). At the same time though, they get less information due to less NKs. In a late mountainous you have twice as many confirmed town than in doubleday.

It LOOKS more townsides because its an "oh twice the lynches" instinct... but you still only get lynches at 98653 comapred to (11)9753. They just are orginized differently.

Thinking about it. This is more up my alley but the fact that nopony realizes optimal play is to be conservative (no multiple votes) and its most likely a town loss to start im not sure.

You're comparing a 2:7 game to a 2:9 game. Town should do a lot better in a smaller game with the same amount of mislynches as each individual lynch has better odds of hitting scum (before you factor in 'information', which is an overrated commodity in a mountainous game as scum get to manipulate the players who survive with great control). Scum have less control over the nightkill which is an advantage as it keeps obv-townies/good scumhunters alive longer - this is why towns generally do well in nightless games.

Also, I think that in the 3 Open setups that have been run so far (excluding the Micros, I mean), it's mainly been more about the town's competency/incompetency/focus than anything the scum's done, though I could be wrong given what I remember.

In the first setup town was doing fairly well, but CES's entry into the game gave us a kind of momentum boost of sorts.

In the 2nd town was hampered pretty heavily by Loranthecae and PMysterious. I mean, sure, whisky and myself were arguably the two towniest people there (which partially explains why Whisky bit the bullet N1), but most of our attention was on getting rid of VIs, not hunting scum.

In the 3rd (most recent) game where I was scum, the town in this game (of which Dashie was a part of) was pretty well off, but I don't really feel like they focused enough on the right targets, or something along those lines. I honestly feel like if Shos and Buldermar hadn't been so focused on each other's potential scumminess and looked at me a little more they might've actually won.

(Of course, I've always stated I'm terrible at post-game analysis, so make of this what you will. I still want you to join me, Dashie.)

Didn't realize signups had been reopened. Updated setup advertisement (much thanks to LlamaFluff for helpful comments and suggestions):
Open 464 - Apocalypse

Mod: Kdub


A new twist on the White Flag setup...


1 Odd-Night Goon Cop
1 Even-Night Goon Cop
8 Townies

1 Mafia Secretary
2 Mafia Goons


Goon cops only get guilty results on goons (duh), will get innocent results on the secretary and town players.

If the secretary dies, one of the goons dies with him. If both goons are still alive when the secretary is lynched, a lone goon will have to win the game by himself. If one or both goons are already dead, the secretary's lynch is an instant town win.

Before the start of D1, the three mafia will get to select which one of them will be the Secretary. Mafia will have full daytalk throughout the game.
