Also, man, quality over quantity.
@Selkies: I want to know substantial reasons for why you've put down every vote that you've laid so far.
I'd also like to know how you feel about my post 510.
I think answering both of these will provide good content for us to work off of.
Orc was bouncing the vote around a lot at the start of the day, trying to see what would shake loose. I think his first serious vote was on svenskt and it was random to start with, but Svenskt's omgwtf FFERYLLT MAKE ORCI STOP reaction had both of us wondering about him.
I really couldn't say where the vote went from there, but until I put the vote down on Bo, we had not been trying to reach consensus. Pretty much we were following our mafia natures. Orcinus provoked reactions and I watched them, and the spreading reaction ripples.
This game has been most interesting so far from my perspective I use a provoke/assess method, too. But it's glacial by comparison to the speed that Orcinus goes. And who, when and how I decide to provoke is different, too. We're still figuring out how to make this partnership work.
Bo was our first serious vote, and our reasons for the vote are pretty well outlined in our read list.
Our next vote was you. I had you down as null, possibly town based on learning that this is your second game. Orcinus has been trying to understand and rebut your case for voting us, and his read was null/scum. What changed this, and got us on the same page was your switching from us to DO's. wagon. You've been asserting that we're scum, voting us 5 times in one post, etc., and then you suddenly dropped it and went after a guy with 4-5 posts. Rach had voted him, and several players had expressed possible willingness to put a vote down since he hadn't showed up.
The move looked opportunistic. Our wagon wasn't going anywhere, and here's this other wagon where the guy isn't even around to defend himself.
That kind of voting behavior will raise my eyebrow every time.
Svenskt is seeing it as possible town. And the way he went about that - pushing back at us about adding a vote to you - is probably the most townish looking thing he's done so far, and immediately settled most of Orcinus' and my lingering doubts about him.
So where we are now is back to thinking about Bo. Some of the case on him involves interactions with you. And we'll need to think about what that means about both of your alignments. He could be buddying you. You haven't really needed any whiteknighting until the last hour or so. Svenskt rather than defending you has asked for time to review. Like I said...most townish looking thing from him so far in the game. As scum, I think he would have been a little more blatant about sticking up for you if he was going to go there at all.
As to 510, I think you have to appreciate time zones and people playing too early or too late because they are trying to intersect with other players in different time zones. Orcinus is about 16 hours ahead of me, I think. Not only do time zones impact when one of us sees a post, the zones impact how awake/alert we are when we first read it.
I didn't point up your reaction test because it was already under discussion. I think Orcinus came back to it after galloping over it due to other stuff going on in the thread. So, while a tight or loose timing might be indicative in a real life game, or in a game where only a few time zones are involved, in a game on a site like MS you have to make allowances for that kind of stuff.
You might get a completely different reply from Orcinus. We are experiencing this thread in very different ways. I guess that's one of the disadvantages of playing as a hydra. One of the advantages is that it converts your role to that of a mason and you have a trusted partner with whom you can bounce ideas around outside the thread.
