So I've never played this -- if I were to pick it up, should I expect the same level of "acceptance that there's a learning curve" that I got when I played dota about ~8 years back (read: none) or is it a little better than that?

That is better. LoL is made to be accessable, nearly all champions can be played at a low skill level in a fun way, and matchmaking protects you for quite some time. Bots are available and they aren't too bad.

It's clearly their goal to make the game easy to enter for new people, but the players do not change between one game of the other really. As you can see in this thread, ragers exist in any game.

Also, while I don't have the patience to look through everyone's ISO (TehBrawlGuy's I knew wouldn't be hard), I struggle to think of a single person who hasn't or won't bitch about this game at times. It's a frustrating game.

GreyICE's iso reveals his contributions to this thread are not comprised only of bitching. Without further research, I'm inclined to believe this to be representative of the vast majority of posters in this thread. Dropping the issue now, just had that white knight spirit for some reason.

Actually most of the people I generally play with ISO in this thread has no bitching. It's a matter of mindset.
