The students were bustling out of the Great Hall, making a ridiculous amount of noise, as per tradition. The welcoming feast was over, and Percy Weasley couldn't believe two things: one, that Dumbledore's words of greeting were so ridiculously mental, and two, that Harry Potter had not only arrived at Hogwarts, but he was also in Gryffindor. The Prefect rubbed his hands in glee at the prospect of looking after The Boy Who Lived.

He snapped sharply at a little Hufflepuff who was pushing his way through the crowds. "Oi, stop that. The school rules state an orderly dismissal from the Great Hall." The Hufflepuff looked back at him, and stuck his tongue out, so Percy set off in hot pursuit.

"Excuse me, Prefect coming through, get out of the way."

He finally emerged from the scrum into the Main Entrance Hall, and glanced over at the hourglasses which signified House Points. He smiled, as he realised that this year, perhaps Gryffindor actually had a chance of winning the House Cup. His smile was only brief, however, as he saw the robes of the young Hufflepuff disappear around the corner.

"Hmm. That's strange. I thought that the Hufflepuff common room was near the kitchens..." Percy murmured to himself, as he continued to chase. "I say, young man, come back here!"

The student ignored Percy, and the red-headed Gryffindor felt his anger rising up. "I AM A HOGWARTS PREFECT, AND YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME."

He walked around another corner, and was ambushed by a group of people. He didn't recognise them.

Later that evening, his absence was noted, and when other Prefects went looking for him, they found him hung from a chandelier, robes over his head. It wasn't a pleasant sight.

Professor McGonagell was not happy. She'd just been woken up by a message from Filch to say that Gryffindors were out of bed. She sighed as she pulled on her dressing gown, not knowing who it would be. Whoever it was, they would be getting a bad punishment - detention and, as much as she didn't want to do it, points taken away from the House Cup. Gryffindor would probably be last again.

She walked out of her office, and down the corridor. It was dark, so she muttered "Lumos", and her wand tip lit up. She stalked up the stairs, towards the Gryffindor common room. She never arrived.
