RVS concluded so fast that I'm actually a bit dizzy right now.
As an introduction I would like to say that this is my first time playing a game like this ever. I hope to have fun like everyone else.
Hmm... not everyone has voiced here yet, including our IC. I can by no means place a vote on any of them without any real information to base an opinion on (Only information I have is that they haven't posted, but the game didn't start too long ago, so it's not that reliable of information to place an opinion on currently)
I think I will wait for waynegg to dig up his information before forming a strong opinion on where the back and forth between waynegg and TIP leaves me. But something of it smells to me.- TheIrishPope

Starstorm, you can check the wiki to understand what the game of Mafia is all about. You can start by telling us about yourself.
SuperMafiaMan, RVS doesn't "end", technically. If you still want to be in RVS, go ahead, vote.
What smells to you?- SuperMafiaMan

Girls! You're both pretty! Can I go home now?
Seriously, this is cool and all that you're getting discussion going, but to continue with arguing over statistics to prove "I was right", "No, I was right" isn't going to help us, and might just scare off some newbies that don't want to get bogged down in a theory/who is right discussion. It's not alignment indicative, can we bring it back to who wants us dead and why?
Fwiw, I get town vibes off both of you, not willing to back down from your respective stances.
Now I want a wagon,
VOTE: starstorm
Starstorm, what you need to do is tell us who you think is Mafia, and why. Basically, the game comes down to spotting peoples motivations for their actions, making a case, and trying to kill off members of the opposing faction to you, by either lynching Mafia if you're town, or framing town as Mafia if you're Mafia. Sorry if that sounds a bit IC-ish (stealing a little of startransmission's thunder, maybe I'm training for IC? )- TheIrishPope

I don't need someone to tell me I'm pretty. I know that.

And I will. This is a bit lighter of a read on theory, in case anyone would like some help combing through page one. Theory is tedious and time consuming for me.

Ok, so I've played mafia at parties before, and I think I understand most of what's going on. But a few questions: (This is my best effort! )
1) RVS is Random Votes, right? If so, was Irish's vote on wayne completely random, or was there anything behind it?
2) If Irish's vote was completely random, why did waynegg care? I think Irish might've accidentally "struck gold" so to speak. If the RV was just to get the ball rolling, why did wayne get so upset over something so trivial?
3) Omgus is "Oh my god you suck" - google is helpful. That's exactly what I'm buying right now. Irish voted Wayne to see what would happen, and wayne got defensive.
4) I know Wayne voted me, and I do know being a dumb noobie is a perfect disguise for a mafia, but I promise you I'm sided with the village.
Wayne, your vote on Irish seems to insinuate that you suspect him as scum. I think he just RVed to get a reaction/get the game moving. I'm curious as to why you (assumedly) disagree with that.
One thing that occurred to me, though. Perhaps Wayne and Irish are both mafia? I know, whenever I play at a party, when Bob (to use a name) leads a lynch on Steve (to use another name) the town becomes pretty trusting of Bob when Steve flips mafia. What if Irish is trying to gain our trust when he is in all actuality the second mafia?
Everyone else, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.- TheIrishPope

Great that you're active, Starstorm. Here we go.
1. RVS is Random Voting Stage, where we vote randomly as the title suggests. I voted wayne randomly, yes, but now I have reason to believe wayne is scum.
2. He cared because he saw me as a threat. He might be Town, acting scared, or scum, scared that I voted him. Guess which one I'm thinking about. I wouldn't say struck gold... well yeah I would. You should vote Wayne with me.
3. If you read the thread, RVS and OMGUS were explained. That is scummy to me.
4. Wayne didn't vote you. MP5 voted you. You have to read the thread again. Don't say things like "I promise I'm good." It makes you look scummy.
The situation you proposed is called bussing. It is a strategy used by scum to gain Town credibility. If you want, you can check my scum games and town games to see how I play. You will see I don't do this as scum.- waynegg

Starstorm, your hypothesis that they might both be Mafia *might* be true, but in all likeliness is probably not.
Not to try to dissuade you from discussing, but speculating on possible teams right now is kind of a no-no, guessing whether they're trying to "bus" (terminology for one Mafia trying to lynch another, as in "throwing them under a bus") each other is massively WIFOM (wine in front of me, google/YouTube that if you're not familiar with it )
I like that you're trying to work things out though, so I'll
UNVOTE:
As town, we first lynch the player we think to be most scummy, watch their flip, and reassess after that. Speculating on teams/partners can be very handy when you have one scum flip, as you can analyse interactions, but doing it without a flip leads you down confirmation bias and you get nothing concrete from it.
No scum reads yet, just some null to town reads. Time to vote an inactive:

I told you it would take me some time to research and put it all together, did I not? I also said just 46 minutes ago that I was just then getting to start that research. You sure are pushing hard for a wagon in my absence though. Scum tell #4 (same as slamming someone who is V/LA) According to the clock, we have many days to come to an informed decision. Why are you trying to rush the vote? Scum tell #5.In post 38, TheIrishPope wrote:

Anyhow...
90%
As Voodoo Lady pointed out, when you roll a D9 you have a 77% (77.78% actually, but yeah) chance of not hitting two specific numbers. However, we are not dice. We all have a basic human need of belonging.
http://www.saywhydoi.com/belonging-why- ... belonging/
As such, going against the tide is contrary to fulfilling that need. Once a wagon forms on a townie, scum will hop on to further their win condition and making the wagon grow. Please read the bandwagoning section here
http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?tit ... sane_Tells
Once the wagon grows to an appropriate size, the need to belong kicks in and a mislynch happens. If you need to see this in practice, go to any of the completed games forums and pole the End D1 results. It won't take you long to see that 90% may even be a bit conservative.- waynegg

Ugh yeah. I meant MP5 is (now was) voting me. My bad.
Wayne, it seems difficult to establish a read on TheIrishPope after he posted one line. I'd say the vote seems a little hasty. But I like your point about how party mafia is way different from forum mafia.
"Not to try to dissuade you from discussing, but speculating on possible teams right now is kind of a no-no, guessing whether they're trying to "bus" (terminology for one Mafia trying to lynch another, as in "throwing them under a bus") each other is massively WIFOM (wine in front of me, google/YouTube that if you're not familiar with it )"
LOVE that movie. I read you loud and clear.
Irish, if your signature is to be trusted "scum gameS" seems odd, since you've only been mafia once. It also seems fishy to reference previous games when you were mafia to prove a point you're trying to make as (claimed) town.
P.S. How do you vote people? Do you just type in VOTE: Example?
P.P.S. What's a D9? I tried to look it up on the wiki and found squat.- TheIrishPope

I'm just saying you can see my earlier games and compare them to my current play.
The format for voting is [ v ]Someone[/ v ], without the spaces, as shown in the OP.
D9 is a die with 9 sides, representing 9 players.- MP5

Town on TIP and waynegg as stated earlier, plus starstorm. Your argument shouts to me of two obstinate and stubborn townies trying to prove they're right. Hypothetical for you (both): lets suppose you're right, it doesn't make the other person scum. Starstorm is displaying a townie mindset, trying to work things out, hence the unvote.
