More of it is being mechanically better than your opponent and taking the victory. In post 21625, Ankamius wrote:Then keep that in mind and play on.
A lot of this game is adapting, and you need a ton of it to succeed in solo queue.
Teams only listen occasionally. They don't listen everytime. Do you know who listens everytime? The champ you control yourself. That is the one that needs to be fed and ahead. In post 21626, TehBrawlGuy wrote:Captain up and lead the idiot team to victory. Once you start being the playcaller, things work out well.
YOU ARE THE ONE CONSTANT IN YOUR GAMES. YOU NEED TO CARRY THEM.
The only advice anybody who is bad at this game needs is: Practice your last-hitting mechanics, positioning, and overall laning skills to kill your lane opponent and learn to use that lead to snowball the game.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.-

I would actually argue that knowing when and how to take objectives is more important than having good mechanics. In post 21628, PJ. wrote:

If you're going for baron with less than a 90% chance you are making a stupid decision in soloQ.Tamuz is the expression of the alienated, of the ambitious, of the dispossessed.- Hinduragi

That's probably the one thing that doesn't help you win. It helps you become a presence on your team, but it doesn't win games at all, it just makes you feel better about yourself. In post 21628, PJ. wrote:

If you don't think having the best mechanics helps you win games, you are an actual retard. Exhibit A: Doublelift aka Only guy on a league of legends pro team that can say "bad team" as a legitimate excuse as to why he hasn't won anything major. Seriously though how many times has he taken over a game while his team bumble fucked around and he flat carried him because he's the straight up best player. Exhibit B: Cloud 9, The reason they are winning is because they win lanes more than they lose them. Winning lane is the most important thing. It allows you to enact strategies and take objectives more freely. If you win 3 lanes, you win the game if you don't make more than one huge mistake. If you win 2, you probably only get one relatively large mistake depending on how badly the lane that lost did and which lane it was.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.- Bub Bidderskins

The reason Cloud 9 wins games is because of superior teamplay and objective control. If you understand the game and get your team to grab baron when the other team is backing, that's worth a hell of a lot more than getting that extra CS in lane because you are mechanically superior. This is why so many support mains do so well. Support is arguably the least mechanically demanding role in the game, and yet they win games by keeping timers, controlling objectives, and placing wards.ShowTotal: 16/15/1

No, they win games by being easy to carry and protecting the most mechanically skilled player on the team. Playing support is literally rolling the dice every game and hoping your team is better than theirs, cause guess what, you aren't gonna win by calling timers in silver.
And as I said, Cloud 9 is able to have objective control and use their teamplay to great effect BECAUSE they win their lanes.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.-

Panzer, you literally don't know anything about support if you make statements like that.
It's the ADC's job bot lane to be easy to carry, not the support's job. I shouldn't really have to point out how many times I've had absurdly easy laning phases simply because my support essentially won the lane by him/herself. Have you ever seen areallygood Janna at work? A good one will make a jungler too frustrated to come bot lane because she will make absolutely damn sure those ganks never result in a kill. Leona is really good at engaging, bursting, and keeping an enemy champion down for you to pound on their faces for several seconds without any real fear of counter-damage. These are just two examples, but pretty much every support has some sort of tool like this.
Good supports will make also make ganks really difficult and (depending on the champion) set-up good trades with the enemy bot lane or minimize losses.
Conversely, very few ADCs have these same kinds of tools in the laning phase.
AKA Good supports carry bot lane better than ADCs do.- JDodge

The funny thing is that out of all the teams in the LCS, Cloud Nine is probably the most objective focused team. They rotate their "bot" lane all over the map to get turrets. They roam as a unit to get dragons and barons. They don't even really have a "laning phase" in the games they play.ShowTotal: 16/15/1

This. I climbed from 1200 elo (basically high bronze) season 2 to open season 3 at high silver on the back of pre-nerf Taric. I just did not lose lanes, ever.In post 21637, TehBrawlGuy wrote:Panz, as someone who won >2/3rds of his Leona and Nunu games climbing from Silver IV to Gold IV, stop talking.

Lol yeah, you got carried. You also duo'd with a shit load of people that were way better than you which boosts MMR. You're a scrub that lucked into gold with a 51% win rate. Supports get carried. That's it.
My winrate with support is something like 80%. I didn't do shit in any of those games.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.-

Yeah, doesn't everyone? In post 21641, Ankamius wrote:You're basically saying that you win more when you get carried with that statement.
Support mains have 2 destinations 600 and 1800. You're either gonna get carried up or dragged down and you don't have a say in what happens.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.-

Sample size. If it was a larger sample size(like TBG's or Brandi's) it would even out. If you are on the luckier end you keep on the winning side, if you're unlucky you'll head towards the losing end.
If you give a support main 10 fresh accounts and had them play all of those accounts without duoing, half would end in bronze and half in gold or above.
I guarantee an ADC main like you or me would hit gold 10 for 10.
And I would absolutely guarantee if a support main gets clamped hard, it's over for them. No support main is capable of winning 75% of their games over the course of 60 or so games.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.-

...Panzer, when what you're saying is not only at odds with the entirety of the rest of the thread, but those with a larger sample size support the conclusions of everyone else... it might be a good time to cut your losses and stop arguing it.Current Losing Streak: 4 (record: 9)
