New T-shirt Thread: Ladies Suggest a Brand/Style!

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Fri Jun 28, 2013 8:22 am

We're close to taking pre-orders; in the meantime...

The local place I have mostly decided on can get a lot of different shirt brands, and I remember there being some dissatisfaction with the options offered previously, so I am opening this up for suggestions. (Waiting on size information for the unisex option, hopefully will have that soon.)

American Apparel is the best brand I've found. Gildan can be a cheap alternative, although I can't remember which one of their shirts were good.

American Apparel runs VERY small in women's sizes, IIRC. Will ask Orbiting.

Yeah, it does. Also they shrink.

Like, an American apparel 2x is probably a normal person's medium.

oh wait now that I think about it the AA shirt that I was given got super tight super fast. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing but you have to plan accordingly. And I'm guessing it just wouldn't work at all if you were normally above a ladies large.

Orbiting likes Bella: http://www.customink.com/custom/bella.htm (probably other distributors too). Zie says they actually fit people with curves, and are sized reasonably.

Bella is pretty popular for women's sizes. For Gildan, the ultra cotton & ultra blend styles are nice (I don't know what the women's sizes are like).

Gildan's not bad. But Bella sounds much better. I might know of another brand as well, but I'll have to find that shirt first. Once I find it, I'll let you know.

Bella is nice. Also, can we please have an option for a shirt with capped sleeves (either with or without raglan)? I really don't like regular T-shirt sleeves... so boxy!

Most of my t-shirts that have lasted are Gildan-brand. They seem to have the best seam-strength and ability to take graphics well.

Checking on Bella availability with the printer... but there are approximately 1 billion styles of shirt that they offer. So we need to narrow this thing down. (http://www.bella.com/womens-t-shirts.html)

Unisex will likely be Gildan, Hanes, or Jerzees (the latter two have Tagless options, which I personally prefer, but I have some Gildan shirts and they're good shirts).

#6035 - in 15 colors
jersey deep v-neck tee

#6005 - in 14 colors
short sleeve v-neck jersey tee

I like these styles, but most of them look nice.

I really like whomever Kohl's works with for their Apt. 9 clothing brand. Very comfy.

Anyway, do we have settled visuals for the shirts?

I'm in love with 8815, and having one "flowy" style seems like a good idea, but we also need a normal one, like 6005.

If we can do a racerback, I won't whine or even care about the other stuff! http://www.bella.com/racerback-tank.html?deptid=4

http://www.bella.com/sheer-rib-scoop.html?deptid=2 scoop shapes accommodate people who have a high boob: torso ratio, without tightness

http://www.bella.com/sheer-rib-deepV.html?deptid=2 seems alright.

I sent off an email yesterday and got some quotes. Bella is going to be about $3 more than the unisex options, regardless of the style. The heavier weight shirts are about $0.50 more vs. the lighter counterparts. (I also have the option of getting the t-shirts myself rather than through them, which would save us some money but add time between taking orders and shipping shirts.)

These are the options she included in the email, with sizing:

Gildan 2000 - 100% cotton 6.1 oz t-shirt
Gildan 5000 – 100% cotton 5.3 oz t-shirt

(Chest, Body Length, Sleeve Length)
S: 18, 28, 16.5
M: 20, 29, 18
L: 22, 30, 19.5
XL: 24, 31, 21
2XL: 26, 32, 22.5
3XL: 28, 33, 24

Hanes Tagless- 5250 – 100% cotton , 6 oz t-shirt

(Chest, Body Length, Sleeve Length)
S: 18, 27, 16.75
M: 20, 29, 18
L: 22, 30, 19.25
XL: 24, 31, 20.5
2XL: 26, 33, 22.25
3XL: 28, 34, 22.75

Jerzees – 363M - 100% cotton, 5 oz t-shirt

(Chest, Body Length)
S: 19, 28
M: 21, 29
L: 23, 30
XL: 25, 31
2XL: 27, 32
3XL: 29, 33
(I'll compare sleeve length when I get home.)

Bella – B6005 – V-neck 100 % cotton, 4.2 oz t-shirt

(Chest, Body Length)
S: 16.75, 25.75
M: 17.5, 26.25
L: 18.5, 26.88
XL: 19.5, 27.5
2XL: 20.5, 28.13

Bella - 1005 - Baby Rib v-neck 100 % cotton, 5.8 oz t-shirt

(Chest, Body Length)
S: 15, 25
M: 15.75, 25.5
L: 16.75, 26.13
XL: 17.75, 26.75
2XL: 18.75, 27.38

(I do have some concerns about how the graphic is going to look on the deeper V-neck/scoop options.)
