I don't think I did anything wrong, I just think people always think I'm scum. But guess what, i rarely get voted for it. I can usually pull myself out of that shit. When there is a ML I see nothing wrong with being lynched. of course I'd never self vote, but if I was hurting the town and they really didn't see me as townie they could have lynched me, easy.
Here's my issue. When you're not confirmed town, why would you EVER stick to your reads like that. That was really the biggest problem I had with NQT. and then Jerry.... I was just like... there is no way. The way I ISO'd the teams really opened my own eyes. Maybe Flay saw them as just observations... in a way they were, but it helped me figure out who i could see as a team. after I was able to rule out a Flay/NQT team I pushed really hard for a Jerry lynch because he was pretty much confirmed scum in my eyes. I was super nervous when I hammered NQT.- rmpeacoc

I woulda gotten away with it if it weren't for you pesky kids! Well I learned some things. Letting the doc have a second save was our biggest mistake in general, but also obviously not doing any substantial scum hunting was a big mistake. Xiao et al. were completely wrong about the metaphoricals being a scum slip (especially Flay thinking I was a roleblocker!)- notscience

They might have seemed that way but I can assure you that I had no intention of fishing for roles. I was actually just creating content and activity without needing to put any thought into it. To be fair, I've been accused of rolefishing before when playing as town so that's probably something I should work with.- rmpeacoc

It doesn't matter what you think you were doing it for. Subconsciously scum need to find out who the PRs are. And we caught you doing it. Town has NO reason to role fish in the early game. Even me being wrong about which of you had the role doesn't matter, because the Goon's job is to put his neck out if necessary to shield his PR.In post 834, notquitethere wrote:They might have seemed that way but I can assure you that I had no intention of fishing for roles. That said, the first hammer was not a big problem. It was the lack of hammer on Jerry that sealed your fate. TownNQT knows NQT is a mislynch and a loss, so you should have been willing to lynch someone, anyone else at deadline. That also screwed Jerry the next Day.
All of that said, you guys started off strong, even with the Doc save. I'll make a more complete writeup on play later.Retired as of October 2014.- Xiao Long

GG to everybody!!
NQT and Jerry, thought you did a fabulous job! You somehow coasted on my null/scum side of reads while there were scummier-looking people in the game to get lynched. I really didn't start suspecting NQT till I died.
That being said, I'm grateful to town for pulling through. Obviously even in the middle of Day 4 I had the wrong idea about who NQT's partner was, so I'm glad I wasn't around in the endgame situation.- pitoli

Mafia QT is here: http://www.quicktopic.com/50/H/555595ZQfrM.
Apologies to rmpeacoc and Kattaze for misgendering you two. I'm usually good with that kind of thing, so for me to do that was disappointing for me.
In post 818, rmpeacoc wrote:Remember when people told ME not to roll over and die? That's what you did.
If I had found any real scum evidence that RMP was scum, I don't think I would have self-voted. As it was, though, RMP played pretty well late in the game (and it seemed like her play was less scummy later in each day as opposed to earlier), plus I was a bit intimidated by Flay saying I had one chance for rebuttal, so I felt that it would be needless to drag the game out.In post 837, Xiao Long wrote:Jerry essentially self-lynching himself was depressing. Sure, we won, but geeze. =/
Yeah. I think that was more motivated by wanting to breadcrumb just to do it.In post 818, rmpeacoc wrote:I understood that your breadcrumb meant you were vanilla. What I didn't understand was WHY ON EARTH you did it. There's no reason to breadcrumb VT like that unless you are scum.
This. After I latched on to Flay (no surprise, I didn't actually ISO NQT when I said I did), and NQT hammered notscience (who I think deserved better), I was pretty much stuck to NQT.In post 818, rmpeacoc wrote:Where you really failed in my opinion was buddying Flay. You only left yourself one out. You had to fight me for the lynch, and I wasn't giving up. If you'd left both options open you could have saved yourself.
I thought Day 1 was my weakest day (other than Day 5, but yeah), although I think NQT did well then. The Doc save (and really, the no lynch, since lor was our roleblock target, and there's a nonzero chance we would have blocked Katt if lor was lynched) did help the town quite a bit, and Katt played a great game.In post 836, Mr. Flay wrote:All of that said, you guys started off strong, even with the Doc save.
Finally, reading the dead QT, I'm glad I'm not alone in how obvscum NQT was.- JerryArr

YessssssIn post 579, notscience wrote:Flay- Overall he's done pretty pro-town things. Katta's idea or whoever it was that he was scum also seemedfarfetch'd. Justifications on my play:
This being my first town-alignment game, I was pleasantly surprised that my play seemed to be transparent enough to get townread by everyone. But then my surprise led to complete unease as I realized that as Cop, you don't want to be near-universally townread. I also had no idea how to breadcrumb my role or my investigations subtly - can someone explain this to me?
I know it's weird that I investigated who I did, but I was going for people who I thought could competently lead town in an endgame situation. For some reason I saw both Xiao and Flay surviving till then. After we lynched Lortaku, I got weirdly paranoid of Flay and decided I HAD to know whether we were the same alignment going into the next day otherwise cooperation would be impossible.- pitoli

I actually think you made some good decisions with your investigations. I would have investigated either myself or Rmp D1, most likely myself since I was extremely stubborn. In post 842, pitoli wrote:Justifications on my play:

NQT
If we ever play together again, don't take what I say at face value, and always assume I'm lying. ;DSomething I wanted to say about Xiao: I strongly suspect his town-play is of the righteous townie model: he can't see why anyone innocent would vote for him. As soon as I stepped off his case he stopped thinking I was scum. This attitude hopefully will lead him to mislynch more players, but we should probably night kill him before lylo.
But you and Jerry did a good job of not seeming like partners. Even though I was certain you were scum for most of the game, I was thinking Rmp was more likely to be your partner than Jerry.- kuribo

It's actually a very stressful way to playIn post 278, jon_h61 wrote:@Mr Flay (or anyone for that matter) Could you link me to a good template for playing Mafia?
I have one I got somewhere, but it's kinda lacking. It'd really help to keep games separate, and to not lose track of things.
Thanks in advance
Woo Hoo! I was just reading some of Kuribo's templates for posting in Mafia Discussion! That'd be a wild play style to try! I don't think I could keep it up for a whole game though!
APOLOGIES for fluff, I'll stop now - kuribo
