It's sooo quiet here. People really need to post before our mod starts prodding a third of our town.

@Mail-mil, not everyone gets notice if they are roleblocked and jailors don't remove and create their own night chat. Jailors don't execute either. Your site requires a log in btw. :(

We need to get out of RVS and I suppose M-M's gambit got the game going. I have him as a slight townread for now.

Titus, yeah that really was your undoing in that game. So... if you're town you'd think it was possible m-m was scum... so why give this friendly bit of advice to help scum not slip?

This is a newbie game to help people understand the mechanics. It would feel greatly wrong to take advantage of a newbie's deficiencies in a newbie game when that happened to myself and I felt it was a little unfair. So yeah, I have no hard feelings but it doesn't mean I need to recreate the cycle.

Fair enough, that's very noble of you! (I'll never forgive you)

Interested to hear why you've given m-m that slight townread. The gambit is only townie if m-m knew it was an extremely scummy move to make, and even then surely that path of WIFOM leads to null at best?

@mail, how often do you use that self vote at the start of the game? i'd like to hear some more about why you decided to go with it. considering jkm and titus are discussing it, i'd like to hear more before i make my own decision.

JKM, I cannot see a seasoned player doing that as scum to break out of RVS. The sign would be neon, huge and hard to shake. Look at the results the gambit achieved, the game was moving slowly but now we have active posters and FoSes starting up. Yeah, it's not perfect town read but it's enough to give him a slight town read.

WIFOM WIFOM WIFOM
A seasoned player would know that, and might find a new website a great place to try out a scum strategy like that, knowing it would lead to WIFOM.

Any action can be wifomed. Again, it's not a confirmed town read.

@Mod: Can we get prods on players who haven't posted?

Well sure, but this is super blatant WIFOM, bordering on scummy.

If somebody in RVS said "Guys, I promise you I'm scum and m-m is my partner", would you say "ooh what a good conversation piece - town points!"? Where's the line?

One more question before I go to bed.

If you never had to deal with WIFOM SXTLH, why did you immediately suspect it?

I would suppose that the player was being a troll in that instance and the behavior wouldn't have the clear intent of starting conversation. That's ridiculous. I wouldn't immediately jump to the conclusion the player was scummy however as I have actually seen this gambit a fair amount on sc2mafia.

Really off now. JKM's message was posted just as I was posting.

Sry for my late reply.

Wondering how the set up works. Will we know what roles are in the game and will it reveal on death?

Ah, I see now that there was a whole second page before I posted.

As far as what happened on the first page, I feel that m-m could have been messing around since someone mentioned the random lynching. I also feel like it's too early to discern any useable reads on you guys.

Random voting stage- Basically goofing off until we find something strange and going from there (that's what's been going on

When people die you see their role

PRs/Mafia have a good estimate on which setup is in play, but we won't unless a PR flips (because a goon flip reveals nothing)

Basically, one of the 3 rows OR one of the 3 columns is picked and then distributed. OTher than those 3, there's 5 vanilla townies and 1 mafia goon.

Make sense?

on the other hand, why would a town player do something like that? its directing all of the current suspicion at himself when it doesn't need to be. he knows that he's not scum = waste of time unless scum obviously screws the pooch. what do you think?

I never had to deal with it since the only other game i played, I was scum and a group of SE's went 1v1 for 3 of the 4 days. they let me get away with looking like "noob town" and when the time was right i did "noob town" things that got the first lynch of the day and the final hammer. So i never had to use or try to argue around it. that doesn't mean i don't know what is.

I can link you to the other game if you want to see it.

I do it similarly, but it's a bad habit. It helps to draw attention to you, which scum usually don't like.
