the final misconception i see is "i have sightstone, i dont need to buy wards": sightstone is not enough to provide appropriate vision (the most basic level of map control is 4 wards, the lowest optimal level of map control is 6-8) and you will need to buy wards beyond that in all likelihood (especially in solo queue, but if you want to play support in solo queue, suck it up and deal with it)

This so much. The other day, somebody on my team actually told our support "you have sightstone, you don't need to buy wards." Thankfully, the support was my friend and I was able to inform him that the person telling him not to buy wards was, in fact, an idiot.

I'm in Plat IV right now. I actually can't remember the last time I got caught out warding. It's far more common that I go to ward and my laner gets caught out in the 10 seconds I'm gone >.>

This is something Reck does rather frequently - he'll say something stupid, then when called out on it, he'll entirely misrepresent his initial position and say something completely different. It's not worth it to talk sense into him. To make the correct argument though, "No Reck, your advice was to play champions you're good with in ranked, which is a completely separate concept from champions you enjoy. Maybe that person playing Diana really enjoys Diana but can't play her for shit. I assume your advice wasn't that it's okay to play champions you can't play for shit in ranked, so your post was not saying the same thing as Quadz's." God you people make me feel silly sometimes.

...it was completely related. Quadz was making the point that picking champions to buy/play based on other people's advice is not as important as finding a champion you enjoy. I was agreeing with that point by showing anecdotal evidence for how two champions that aren't exactly considered top tier in the meta were able to win anyway because the people who were playing them had practiced them enough to know them well... aka, "don't listen to other people saying what champions are good/top tier right now, find a champion you're good with instead". They're two stories that arrive at the same fucking conclusion.
