I think enough people have a town read on me that I'm not in any real danger of being voted out.

I would be much happier with putting up a dark horse candidate that not a lot of people are talking about but who I have a pretty good feeling about. I would rather not put up a town pawn just in case scum have an ability to choose out of nominations or add votes or something stupid like that.

That is exactly why I want the HoH to have freedom to nominate. Get people talking.

I say vote up two scummy people. If one gets lynched and is town, why would the other one not get put up the next day anyway?

Having a pawn will allow scum to use any sort of lynch fucking ability to lynch townie town. And then we're screwed. If scummy town gets lynched that's not a loss, that helps us narrow it down.

If you are leaning Dark Horse, I would go Gnomeo and Toasty then. I know Nacho has the town read on Rach and is second guessing the read on Bulba. Toasty hasn't had much of the conversation on him, and has been relatively in the shadows of the regular conversation as well. Of BBmolla's suggestions, he's easily the best choice for Dark Horse.

Our read on that slot is in flux. Nacho had an early strong town read on him due to his wondering if it was multiball and liking his posting style. I thought it seemed town enough. That read eroded for both of us when he stopped doing anything; however, he replaced out of boredom which may have influenced his lack of posting anything worthy. We're waiting on the replacement to sort that slot out.

I agree that it could have been boredom - that matches up with the replace out. What do you think of Desperado's read on Rainbowdash? I read the game where he was scum and RBD was town and he does very similar things there too: http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.ph ... 1&start=25

What bugs me is that RBD is generally known to play "pro-town" as scum, bus teammates, defend townies, and I assume it would include proposing plans that benefit town. I think RBD is fairly well-known for doing this so I can't follow how a townie would instantly call them town, especially one who has played with him before. On the other hand, there is a clear scum motivation to read RBD as town to stay below his radar and minimize conflicts.

I'm heading to bed, but I'll look at that game you posted tomorrow after work. Nacho has his suspicions on Desperado, but I'll let him explain it if he's got it fully formed.

I understand the position on RBD because that was my exact reaction. When nacho and I were talking about the game at the very start, I was hesitant to call them town even though I wanted to because I would expect him to make a proposition like that as either alignment. I don't know what he's like with regards to teammates though. It was one of the things that I liked about Blackberry's reads list mid game because he showed some caution and it had matched up to my early weariness. I think by about that point that they had pretty much solidified themselves as town though.

Are you saying no association with Gnomeo or Bulba?

Also, a few things:

1) I'm fine with going up as a pawn.
2) Part of the reason why I haven't been being that proactive this game is because I've been focusing too much on finding town reads. I think this setup sort of begets that, which is something I'm not used to--I generally don't like putting that information out in the open. I have a rough reads list atm, but I think I need to see what happens with the vote to figure it all out.
3) If scum straight up has some killing ability on the two nominees, it would likely not be something they could use multiple times.
4) My rough scum list atm (which I will give explanations for night 2--I would do it now but I'm doing homeworks and I know the day is closing soon): I would put up peacebringer and gnomeo, fine with either being lynched. I also find bulba and desperado scummy. Desperado is more a process of elimination scumread, i need to re-examine his slot. I know his reads are similar to mine, however.

Well, you could have answered it when I asked, which was pretty much immediately after you posted it. I want to know your thought process for it. Whether or not that read is outdated, is irrelevant. For all I know, you could be putting up random names.
Imperium wrote:No. And that should be clear even if you're only skimming our posts.
Then why did you comment on me posting just before he died?
Imperium wrote:What do you think it is?
The quote is yours. So it's you who has to answer, not me. Dodging questions is something I tend to really dislike. Which you have done twice now. To me, it just looks like you're trying to make me look bad, by making silly points against me. I had a pretty solid townread from your earlier posts against Bulbazak. So why do you feel the need to take cheap shots at me?

I am trying to think about why a player would suggest that the HoH choose who they want (Titus/Bulba's method of playing) as opposed to having town decide who to lynch and then have the HoH nominate whoever the majority wants (Jake/RBD's suggestion). I can see two different town motivations for it:

1) If a player is generally persuasive and is capable of swaying opinions and leading lynches, I assume they would want to go with RBD/Jake's suggestion. I buy that it is statistically optimal and probably the best strategy when looking at the game from an outsider's perspective.

2) If a player is known to have good reads and is generally incapable of persuasion or gets frustrated that nobody listens to them, I'd expect that they would want to select whoever they want when HoH. Such players would vehemently argue against using a pseudo-lynch mechanic and instead welcome the HoH mechanic with open arms since they now have a chance to chance to choose by themselves who to nominate.

It made sense that RBD wanted the suggestion that he proposed. The question is whether it makes sense for Bulba and Titus to oppose this mechanic. If they are the sort of players who are frequently unable to sway town's opinion, I think their opposition to RBD would be very townish. I plan to look through both their metas to gain further insight into that aspect of their play to come to a conclusion but deadline is approaching so I wanted to throw this out there to hear other's thoughts on it and whether anyone who has played with either of those players want to weigh in.

After a fade-in from a commercial, the audience applause greets the camera as it pans in to Julie's face.

"Welcome back to Big Brother!" She says to the camera with a ready smile. "Over the course of the past couple of weeks our houseguests have been working among themselves to decide who they should elect as the Head of Household. Now that time is up, let's see who they have chosen." She turns to her screen, where the 13 remaining houseguests wait in the lounge, their eyes shifting between the screen and the HoH insignia.

"Houseguests!" Julie Chen's voice brings their eyes directly to the screen. "It is time to show you who has made it as the first Head of Household of the season! Though no one was able to obtain a majority by the deadline, one will be selected by who has the most nominations.

"By gaining six votes over the course of your debates, Imperium, you have been selected as the new Head of Household." Smiling, Imperium goes to take the insignia of HoH to wear and sit back down.

"Now then, Imperium, take the time to decide which of your two fellow houseguests you want up for eviction," Julie says before turning back to the camera behind her.

"A new HoH has been decided--the first one of the summer," she remarks. "Just who will they put up for eviction? Join us on Thursday to see who will be up for eviction, and watch the eviction live. And be sure to tune in throught the rest of the week so you don't miss any of the action. From the Big Brother House, good night."

The audience cheers, and for anyone viewing at home the shots move to focus on the houseguests as they mill about, and Imperium in particular.

Imperium has been chosen as the first Head of Household, and Night 1 begins. They have (expired on 2013-09-08 13:35:13) to PM me 2 people to put up for eviction, or else I will choose one or both randomly.

The in-house audience cheers and applauds as the stage lights up for the night, showing the smiling face of Julie Chen in her lovely white dress.

"Welcome to another exciting episode of Big Brother!" she greets the camera. "When you last tuned in we saw Imperium be chosen as the first HoH of the summer. Now, it's time to see who he will put up on the chopping block. Then, each of the other ten houseguests will privately vote to decide who will be the first to go home."

Turning to the screen behind her, it switches from the standard background to focus on Imperium, who is standing in the main lounge with a sure look. Many--but not all--of the houseguests are nearby, and are able to quickly sit down when Julie calls them in. A few minutes later, the rest of the stragglers sit down to hear the news.

"Houseguests, it is time," Julie Chen announces. "Imperium, state the two people you wish to put up for eviction."

"My two choices are..." Imperium pauses for a moment. "...Gnomeo and Desperado."

The two named look at each other in unease as Julie continues. "Very well. Gnomeo and Desperado, please take seats on the center couch." Once the houseguests are situated Julie says, "Now it's time for evictions. Each of the other houseguests will come one at a time to our private booth to announce who they wish to evict. In the event of a tie, Imperium will be the tiebreaker. Does everyone understand?"

Once the nods and murmurs of assent are heard, Julie beams and says, "Excellent! Then let the eviction stage begin."

Gnomeo and Desperado have been put on the chopping block. The remaining ten players have (expired on 2013-09-09 14:20:46) to select one of the two to evict from the game.

While the last houseguest returns to their seat, Julie says to the in-house audience and to the people at him. "The eviction has been set in stone. Now it is time to announce it to the others."

Turning back to the screen, she says, "Houseguests! The votes are in. Whoever is chosen will only have a few moments to say their goodbyes, pack their stuff, and leave."

A tense silence falls over the houseguests, Gnomeo and Desperado in particular.

"...Gnomeo, by a count of 6 to 4, you have been evicted from the Big Brother mansion."

Hanging his head, Gnomeo picks up his bags, says a few goodbyes and does some farewell handshakes before leaving, dejected and somewhat frustrated. However, in his haste a token drops out of a pocket, of a gnome sneering at them all, and the house as well. A few houseguests look at each other, but they all get the feeling that one of those insidious four was just removed from their midst.

Gnomeo,
Mafia Goon
, was evicted from the Big Brother Mansion. Day 2 begins.
