Also, regarding the advice above, the biggest one I disagree with is "never support."
Even in shit elo, if you get your adc fed, they'll still win it for you if you're clear with communication and follow them around. At least, more often than not they'll do that.

Yes. Simply put think about those 25 deaths and how long you were out of the match because you were dead. What sucks is people at low elo don't realize kills < objectivesIn post 23747, TheIrishPope wrote:Thanks for all the advice on Vi! It's good that she counters ADCs because I fucking hate their guts

Leona and Thresh are both excellent champions at low MMRs. It's super easy to just kill the enemy bot lane over and over and over again when you play either of these champions. I wouldn't really recommend any other supports, though.panzer wrote:A) Do not support, ever. In low elo play you are better off playing a non-support champ bot lane and trying to get fed without CS early in the game. Your team won't use the things you give them as a support, so don't put yourself in a position to be octopussed.
Also, something I'd like to add is that if you're playing mid, you need to gank bot lane. Are you pushed to the enemy tower? Gank bot lane. Enemy laner goes to get their blue? Gank bot lane. Enemy mid lane picked LeBlanc? Set up a tent in bot lane's tribush; you'll only need to go back to mid once every five minutes to shove the lane.I am in the bottom 10% of scumhunters onsite!- Elmo TeH AzN

This is somewhat true and a decent percentage of my ranked wins are from getting my adc fed as Sona. The problem with this is pretty much since after I got placed, whenever I'm support our mid and/or top feed more than our adc can get fed and they just assassinate our adc because low Silver players don't tend to get that their roles aren't always to jump on the enemy team during teamfights and ignore their adc. An example: I was Sona in a game where my adc started 4/0 (I got him 3 of the kills and he got himself the other) plus us getting drag and turret in less than 15 minutes. Unfortunately in that time they had Zed and some top (Riven or Jax or something like that) at 7/0 and 5/0 respectively. This is a more extreme example of it happening to me but the same concept happens very often. I don't know if it's that I'm not getting my adc fed enough, but realistically I feel like if my adc is up 2+ kills and a good amount of cs out of laning phase then I've done my job.In post 23750, BROseidon wrote:Also, regarding the advice above, the biggest one I disagree with is "never support."

One important thing to remember about trades and dying: If you are getting ganked in a solo lane, escaping is a much better option than trading 1 for 1.
Even if you trade, two things will go in your opponent's favor. First and foremost, the other team will earn assist gold and your team will not. This automatically makes the "trade" better for them. Secondly, the surviving member of the opposing team will be free to kill off a creep wave. He will gain extra gold while you are dead, and you will lose gold as enemy creeps get killed off by your tower/creeps.
If there is no hope of escaping, you should stay and fight, but sticking around to "trade" when you could instead escape and waste the enemy jungler's time/money is a much better option.- Glork

EBWOP: In soloQ there's also the added psychological bonus of enemy junglers failing to gank. People will get on their case if they keep trying to gank you and keep failing. It leads to dissent among the other team and puts them at an even further disadvantage.- Glork

Honestly, wait until 3.12. They're making changes to the menu UIs and making it SUPER EASY to toggle smart cast on/off while keeping the spell bound to the same key.In post 23755, quadz08 wrote:I am going to try smartcasting today.- Cephrir

Going 0/10/0 is better than going 20/20/0. Being both the most fed guy and the biggest feeder on your team is way more detrimental then just a straight feeder because of the bounty system. Literally the best thing you can do in the game is have 0 deaths.
On supporting(I'm going to keep it short and I'm going to try not to start a big fight about it): If you get your ADC fed, there's no guarantee he'll no how to carry you(doesn't shoot bullets, always caught, any other bad thing ADCs do that can lose games. If you pink something, there's no guarantee that your jungler or mid laner will care. The biggest advantage to being a real support vs a fake support is generally real supports pack good cc. But at Tissue Paper V you need to ask yourself "Are my 4 horrible teammates gonna do more to help me win then my horrible self getting fed" Generally they won'tSometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.- notscience

I strongly disagree, actually.
On average, your team mates will all be as strong as the enemy team (smurf shenanigans not withstanding). If you, as a support, get your ADC more often than not, you will win the majority of your games and improve your rating. It may not be quite as consistent as roflstomping your lane opponent, but at the same time you don't have to fight for roles (I didn't have issues with running into other support mains until high gold, and I supported through silver after each reset. I mained jungle in S1 and didn't pick up support until the end of S1). This means you get to play your best role more frequently, which means you are consistently playing at a higher level.- chamber

I'm really bad at supporting and I don't really know why. My win rate as support, in bronze, is like 1/8 or something ridiculous, but while I'm playing the role I feel like I'm doing everything that I know to be right, which just means my understanding of what supports actually need to be doing must be critically flawed.Taking a break from the site.- BROseidon

Like, very few players actually understand where to ward and why, or when it is safe to go ward a location by yourself (this gets into the whole "you should never get caught warding" schtick).
Also, lane presence is hard. It's why I suck at Sona >.> - BROseidon
