You're applying things that you,not I, might have done based on arbitrary standards that you have set to try to denounce an early game read based on I think a pretty reasonable premise.
You've also not said anything about Cabd's alignment as a result if this is such a "poorly spent play" from him.

That is only a subset of my gambits. Some are more focused upon getting reads or breaking mechanics. Like paradox.
