Scum reads
Doctor Pepper
This is to some extent a wrong place, wrong time read, and IMO is the weakest of our scum reads for that reason.
In post 825, DoctorPepper wrote:Crap! Sorry guys, I have had no internet access for THREE whole days.
I am competing as a judge in a local debate tournament and there was no internet at home for some reason. Sorry guys.
Will catch up after the tourney ends. I'll read tomorrow and hopefully post the night after. My apologies.
Comes off apologetic, and has that "food tell" feel to it in that the post is as much about what he was doing instead of posting as it is about his plans to catch up.
About an hour later he asks about the deadline change. So, he's doing some sort of catch up in the thread a day earlier than expected, or he's been caught up by buddies.
In post 1094, DoctorPepper wrote:Im only up to page 5. Would someone just be kind enough to recap? This might take a while
Though I will say this. Exactly what motivation does scum have in claiming they toom Investigation Immunity to keep it "away from scum"? Wouldnt it be easier to just shut up and not say anything as scum? LB is probs town for that imo.
This is posted on day 2. It's not the end of the world that someone couldn't catch up during the night phase, but he said he'd have time to catch up during that period in the first post above.
Then he goes on V/LA. He says he'll be around on the 23rd-24th. I'll be very interested to see if he makes a post between now and the 26th.
VoidedMafia
The scum vibe started with our first exchange.

Eh, don't see it.
Morph, don't lie to me. P-EDIT: We pretty much just were scum together. Sorry if I'm a little paranoid now.
pyro, bald: Or, yknow, she doesn't think that neighborizer needs to claim?
We've had three scum games as a hydra. We've won all three. But, they weren't awe inspiringly impressive wins for the most part. Well maybe that one game. Oh yeah Voided was our scumbuddy in that game. Still, though, declaring paranoia this early in the game with nothing on which to base it looks unusual. It's not like our meta was going to go unnoticed this game.
Nacho is going to tell me that it makes perfect sense for Voided to be this paranoid. And I'm going to point out that even I give Cabd time and room to actually do something I
can I freak out about before I start with the in-thread squinty eyes.

Ha.
What'cha got, then?
P-EDIT: Vote me, now? That's not nice, Mina.
I largely adverted EV for myself. Had thought of the possibility for better people than me to get it, but largely for myself (and to make sure scum didn't advert or get it later).
Bald does have the sound of someone who's not used to larges and feels a bit over his head, but his recent posts don't make me think he's town.
ED2:
Vote: Prohawk
That's what you went for?
PE3: If you remember, I wasn't in it until the last couple nights of the game. Also, they didn't claim they had neighborzer until it was necessary to finish the stranglehold we already had on the game. So that's not even relevant, and I still don't see why whoever got it needs to claim now.
I don't see the purpose of your proposal, either, so.
This seemed either incredibly optimistic or just plain reasoning that a town player wouldn't come up with.
advertizing decreased the amount of money that could go to the auction on the same night, so given what we already know about the game mechanics, how would Voided feel that certain he could acquire EV? And why would town care if scum advertise it unless it's something we wanted to be purged from the availables asap?
945 - specifically where he voted ProHawk. It always catches my attention when a player whose posts are starting to sound town to me suddenly draws a vote, because the vote feels out of step, like the player doesn't realize that town sentiment is silently shifting as new stuff hits the thread.
In
1296, this:
Voided wrote:But were any of those kill stopping abilities owned by town or even available N0? Were they available N1? No and yes. Furthermore, I do think that having some kind of flip to work with via lynches certainly helps solidify reads (either through how people got the lynch through, or just from the lynch alone). Doc protects are a good way to avoid losing more when a townie is accidentally lynch (so long as they protect correctly), but just because the ability's there and just because this is a large doesn't mean that no-lynching should always be an option in the back of our heads.
Besides, no-lynching in that situation is still stupid to me. Doing that and trying to make the most on short time is better than just doing nothing because we suddenly only had 3 days to do anything.
...read to me like he was upset with scum. With other-scum. Especially the first paragraph. I can't see town being annoyed about this.
Also this:
Voided wrote:I don't think PV-scum'd lose much by fishing for a partner N1, so long as it wasn't a blind toss. I would hope that if he is on a team they used other means to find scum last night. (and one in particular)
And in
1237 I felt like Voided was going after the lowest hanging fruit in his scum pile.
Seanald
This is more of a wtf read than a scum read I guess. As hard as it is to imagine town thinking that auctioning austerity measures is a good idea, it's even harder to imagine scum thinking it's a good idea to say you bought that crap.
Klick
This is where we've decided to put our vote today. We backed off this read yesterday and I regret it. So why are we scumreading Klick?
In post 459, Klick wrote:What the hell.
So, the game is already 19 pages long, and I only have three days to read it?
Is there anything in particular that I need to know?
^^ This is a crappy entrance. And 19 pages worth of game in three days is hardly a big deal.
Then he puts down a naked vote. This, timing-wise felt like a bus.
In post 757, Klick wrote:Lol this is easy mode.
Scum are Voided, morph, Harakiri, probably guille, and if there are any more, they're in people who haven't posted much.
About to go to school but reasons will follow this up.
I'm willing to bet that there is at least one scum in this group, and I feel damn certain that it isn't Harakiri. guile was replaced by Pie and we're pretty happy with Pie as town atm. So, Voided is the one I'm most curious about.
This might even be the truth, if it's his buddies who are doing the spending!
In post 967, Klick wrote:Reads based on today only:
TOWN: ProHawk, Mhork, Pyro
NULL: Muffin, Hara
SCUM: Voided, morph
I'm building up evidence for a nice case on morph that I'll eventually post, probably some time this game day.
What's the point of "today only" reads? I believe it lets you ignore the townie things your "scum reads" have done.
In post 915, Klick wrote:ProHawk's answer is pretty poor. He pretty clearly didn't think Hermy was obvious town.
I'd rather Voided not escape a lynch today, though. I'd support either.
Nacho already pointed this out but the 2nd paragraph's wording is awkward. He didn't say Voided is scummy, and he has yet to post even a shred of a case for his Voided vote on day 1 or day 2. Instead, he includes Voided in posts, like this one while attacking someone he's not trying to get lynched.
In post 1226, Klick wrote:So, I'm going to skip over the pages of the hydras that are hard to memorize "sorting" each other with meta from games I haven't read.
@bald: I'm not playing as well because this game is freaking fast and not pleasurable to play in.
This is a really subtle discredit of "the hydras", and it quietly fans the flames for other, more emphatically annoyed players.
The final note is meta. I've played two games with Klick. He was town in one and he was scum in one. Town Klick townhunts as hard as he scumhunts if not harder. He sees posts that he thinks have to be coming from a town perspective and he calls them. I haven't seen anything like that in this game. He's playing a tight, bottled-up game in some way and he's not looking for (and finding) town. His reads, including his town reads have none of the intuitive leaps that I saw in his town game.
I'd kinda like to hear from Empire if he agrees on this.
