Just for the sheer lunacy of it, what about Ninja vs. Pirate vs. Robot vs. Monkey mafia? Four arch-rivals in one game... only one can be victorious! I have no idea what the set up would be like, but I think it'd be more interesting just to get all four in one game, and fighting.

Then again, maybe I should just see that psychiatrist first.

quite creative. I will play if it start. I think a game that is no side of evil and good would be fun. Just groups.

I'd play a game of nVpVrVm! Although I don't think a game without good or evil is in anyway fun. It gets rather pointless because the entire point of Mafia is that everyone pretends to be on the same side. Maybe they could all be souped-up SK's with a variety of restrictions and benefits.

Maybe they could all be cops, or know each other too. It'd be hilarious watching them try to get each other lynched without making it too obvious that they are another bad guy :)

Games without good and evil don't usually work very well. For a couple days if they don't know about it, it would be interesting (and funny for the mod) but once they realize from the roles of the people dying, it wouldn't work anymore. There still might be suspicion of some good roles but it would mostly fall apart.

Games without good and evil can work. If everyone had their own alterior motive rather than to just survive/kill off all evil. Of course you would have some people who can help you achive your goal and some that will hinder you, even though they also have their own goal to keep in mind, and for the most part, you won't be able to tell who is friend or foe immediately.

Also, make most of the goals really hard to achieve so the game either takes a while before someone get's theirs or after a set period of time, the person who came closest to completing their goal wins the game.

I might run a game like that sometime. Of course it will deviate from the basis of mafia quite a bit but not too much, and I'd make sure everyone knows what they are letting themselves in for before the sign up.

I'm considering running a themed game of limited size based on the Dutch strip figures Ollie B. Bommel and Tom Poes. I would expect the Dutch players to play, but I'd like to see wether there would be sufficient interest. Please message me if you'd be interested (I would put a short description of the main 30 figures or so on my website).

So you weren't joking the other day :D?

I'm definitely interested but in enough games at the moment.

I'm thinking about running a large Sluggy Freelance game.

Would people have interest in such a game? Also, would anybody be interested in comodding?

What is Sluggy Freelance. Might be interested in the co-mod thing, if it turns out I actually know something about the topic ;).

www.sluggy.com - 7 years of webcomics, with a wealth of characters only a handful of whom are "main good guys" and some of
those
aren't obviously pro-town - perfect material for a theme game. I'd be happy to co-mod it, if you were interested.

I know it'll be some time before I can mod a game, but I've already started to think about a mafia game that I desperately want to run once I get the chance. The game's already taking good shape in my mind but I don't want to waste my time if nobody's interested.

Suikoden II mafia. It's very top-down meaning that in role creation there is an emphasis on making them cool plot-wise (but functionality won't be sacrificed). Expect elaborate death-posts.
If you don't know what Suikoden II is but would be interested in joining anyway just for the sake of the fact that I'm hoping to make the game have a really intense feel (for lack of a better word), let me know too. I know this is a long shot, but I'm hoping there's interest.
As a backup, I've also thought about an Abhorsen mafia (the whole trilogy) but I would really like to put emphasis on the Suikoden II mafia.

It's already in the works but I was wondering who would be interested in playing Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mafia and if so, if you've seen the movie. Basically the set up makes it more advantagous to have seen the movie, but if you haven't it would still be fun.

er...I haven't updated the front post here in monthes. To be honest I don't think it was fulfilling it's intended purpose of informing scummers about what themes were available and which were wanted, and what was likely to be a successful theme.

There are people who haven't seen Pirates? Poor devils.

er...I guess my last post has discouraged people from using this thread. For starters, people take my opinion too seriously in regard to this thread. It belongs to the scummers and what I want from it doesn't matter. Even if it wasn't accomplishing it's
intended
purpose, that doesn't change the fact that people were using it. Also, I said the front post wasn't accomplishing it's intended purpose. The rest of the thread seemed to be working fine. Basically, if you feel the need to test-market your theme, go ahead, I won't stop you. I just don't update the front post anymore.
