Even though I can't back up my argument now, I still don't see backup for yours. You are quoting all non-newbie slots.

The graph that you quoted, however, shows something else. Newbie who replace out are scum (I really hope this doesn't become a scumtell), but Rob is not replacing yet and both me and bjc replaced into a newbie slot, so using that on rob is a bit moot.
How do you think newbie scum get replaced?

Rob W failed to pick up his prod so he will be replaced.

Like this probably.

I'll admit that I'm hugely biased because of this one newbie game I've played in which it happened with a town newbie. But unless you want to use replacing out as a scumtell (which it kinda is as per statistics but still awful) I still fail to see your point.

Lurking is something that comes from scum plenty; new scum replacing out more often than new town by such a significant margin suggests that new players lurking their asses off IS a perfectly reasonable scumtell. Follow my train of logic: People who get replaced flake much more often than they request replacement. People who flake generally lurk more than people who don't. Hence, people who get replaced usually lurk. If you keep in mind that scum newbies replace out more than town newbies do, then newbies who lurk are more likely to be scum. This means that being reluctant to lynch them "because they are lurking" is a shitty response.

Now, why do I think newbies lurk more as scum? I think that playing town is something that comes more naturally to a lot of people; it is very difficult to fake scumhunting if you've never seen scumhunting before. So, newbies get their role PMs, they go "what the hell am I supposed to do?", and they freeze up. This specific case shows a newbie who is posting so they will not get replaced; this tells me that he wants to play, but is likely having trouble scumhunting so literally did not know what to post.

Finally you tell me where you are coming from, this makes some sense at least. I think we still don't agree, but I get it now.
Still, lurking alone is not a scumtell for me, maybe this lurking without saying anything is.

Is it strong enough a scumtell to go off of for you? Don't you think there are people that have been scummier?

Yes, no.
If there were people who have played scummier, I would have lynched them ages ago.

Nacho, I wanted to satisfy ika because I wanted to see where he'd go with it. What he did was completely not what I had imagined, but I don't see anything inherently wrong with being willing to perform an exercise for a town read.

I'd also like to point out that, despite bjc's very early willingness to toss his vote around, he has become increasingly cautious with changing votes as the game has gone on. I personally don't think it's a strong enough behavioral switch to go off of, but I didn't see any real mention of it.

I am going to be reading a book for a work-type thing today, so I'll be in'n'out like that one burger place.

I'm curious what you mean here.

Like I said, early in the game I'll throw votes out like candy. At this point in the game though it's different because then I DO find people I find scummy.

For instance, at this point in the game it'll take a hell of a lot more to make me vote nacho than it did early in the game when TS "convinced" me by saying IC wagons are cool.

Earlier in the game I'd vote ika in a heartbeat, but now? Not so fast my friend.

So was it really worth pointing out? Sure, I guess. I don't really think it will ultimately change anything unless TS tries deflecting heat towards me again.

K so bjc is now confirmed town. Any questions? No? Good.

Seriously tho, intent to vote/hammer on ED is present for the time being but may change pending replacement value/input.
