I'm thinking of running a sort of uPick with a twist.

You pick what set-up you'd like to have your role from: Open, Normal or Theme

Name
Open
Normal
Theme
Scum1GoonGoonSoother
Scum2Goon2st RBGoon
Town1RBerVTVT
Town2TrackerVTVT
Town3VTVTCommerizer
Town4VTNeighboizerMiller
Town5VTVTReporter
Town6VT1s Weak DocNeighbour
Town7VT2s RolecopNeighbour

*(Open Set-Up is 8Matrix, Normal is DeasVail's Micro 129, Theme is Modified Aristocat's Mafia, this is just for demostation purposes though)

Original Roll String: 9d3
9 3-Sided Dice: (2, 1, 2, 2, 1, 1, 3, 1, 3) = 16

Which is Goon, Goon, Tracker, Reporter, 2 x Neighbour, 2 x VT.

Basically the idea is that you get to control how much randomness there is in the game.

would there be interest in Dishonored Mafia?

planning a large game with abilities that can be gained or upgraded via Runes and additional rules introduced based on player actions (via a Chaos meter that measures player aggression)

so if players change their votes a lot or lynch early Chaos increases and the game becomes more random and deadly, and if players take their time and unvote frequently the game stays at a less crazy level

same thing with player abilities, if you get enough Runes you can turn from a VT to a JoaT, and you can (for example) choose whether you want a kill or roleblock shot - which in turn affects the amount of Chaos in the game

in effect players determine how bastardly the game is

have there been any similar games I can draw inspiration from?

Last Minute Changes

3 mafia goons
10 vanilla townies
-after a lynch occurs there's a 24 hour twilight phase where people are allowed to secretly change their votes by PM'ing the mod. after the twilight phase is over the updated votecount is posted with the names of the voters removed (so just a list of all the people with how many votes are on them) and the person with the most votes is lynched (plurality)

I blatantly stole this from a game offsite. it seems interesting o.o

Does it not reduce to a normal game the next day, when everyone is forced to claim their vote target? Dishonesty is quickly discovered, so this basically becomes normal mafia with only a slight twist for the maf who have slightly less information when making their night kill.

Given the mechanic is scumsided, and 10:3 is a virtually guaranteed scum win, how the heck does the town have a chance?

I'd make it at least 11:2 and introduce town and scum PRs who are PMed the votecount with names during Night.

I considered running a Dishonored mafia once as a plain mini theme, but i scrapped it when I decided I couldn't make it work.

I would support a Dishonored mafia, though where will you find enough characters to fit a large theme?

I'd love dishonored mafia. I'm pretty sure I can make up at least 20 characters and townies could be called guards, survivors, thugs or weepers, so no troubles with that.

There's plenty of named characters anyway. All the servants of the resistance had names. As well as all the actual major characters on both sides.

Only issue I see is that practically every character lends itself to being a dayvig.

How about a Spawn flavored mafia game. Ive been thinking about doing one on here for a while maybe like a micro themed game with not to complicated roles. Basically your normal roles with out a shit ton of modifiers

I've been considering it. Having randomly distributed role elements added on during each night phase (quad shot could give you 4 lots of 1/2 votes that are distributed randomly, Poison Touch is a delayed PGO effect, etc)...Maybe even throw in some resource management to let people get "Shop" or "Devil Room" items etc...never got much beyond the idea stage though.

I'm sketching out some ideas. I figure there will need to be a lot of back in forth during the development phase. Maybe a thread where people could suggest items from the game for consideration. I would also get a group together to design the entire thing. I'm currently working on making it less swingy, but if you are going to have items in the mix, I don't think that can be avoided. At best, you'll just have to mess with the likelihood that they could show up.

HA! I've been running through GoldenBlackHawk's youtube rageplay over the last few days.
It only occurred to me out of nowhere *this morning* that kuribo's avatar might be based on it.

If it's at least a few weeks away, I'd love to pre-in :)

It looks like GiF's running a game. It looks like it has some different mechanics than I had in mind, so I'll just put mine on the backburner until I finish working out all the kinks.

Would there be interest in a Valkyria Chronicles II mafia, even though there hasn't been one for the original? I have played both games, but I've played a lot more of the second one due to having easier access to it. I haven't actually started working on it yet, so if it does end up happening it will still be a long while, but I don't want to put in the effort if there ends up being no interest.

EDIT: Okay, with no interest I'm not going to bother. Anyone checking in the future to see if it's been done, feel free. Also notify me if I'm still on site so I can play.
