There's one scenario where it makes sense to opt to not lynch if you're the decider at that point: if you are 100% sure that the person you are lynching is town. At that point, there is no gain from a dead body. Majiffy and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, but that one I'm fine with rolling with.

Again: he gave ABR the same exact treatment at the same exact time. Why would he ascribe the same level of towniness to both sirdan and ABR if he only had an innocent on sirdan?

I was obviously referring to the fact that both Desp and Esp are most likely scum, and if Esp is voting Esp when facing imminent death that's a panicked scum reaction/bus.

Tierce, my angle is more that given JS changed his story from obvious targets to having targetted ActionDan under pressure, that might well be the truth? ActionDan certainly doesn't strike me as a bad role-cop target and it seems like a weird lie otherwise. On further thought, the possibility does occur to me that instead of changing his story, JS simply hadn't yet decided whom he fake-bodyguarded when he gave the initial answer, a possibility I'd normally rule out as ridiculous but maybe not here; even then it seems like a mild town tell for AD.
