Well, xepeke built old school with rod of ages in the invitationals.

I've seen a fair bit of iceborne kassadin with a tanky ap bruiser-esque build aimed more towards frozen heart / iceborne for mana and cdr synergies.

I personally tried him recently (albeit on 3s) and went against an lb for a fairly easy lane. The shield lets kass trade rather aggressively into evenly-ranged mids. You take almost no damage when you combine 15% reduction on passive + damage shield.

The shield was just nerfed back to 4.5 levels in 4.7.

He's good vs burst. Best champs to play vs Kassadin are AD assassin types or champs with huge midgame power spikes like Syndra.
A good swain might be able to win lane vs kassadin but idk about that.
Vlad does really well with the shield nerfs.

If you're afraid of getting endgamed though then yeah ban Kassadin. His 6 item power is absolutely absurd.

25 kills dude. He obv missed a lot of xp, and was off the map alot, but whenever he was on the map he was fucking killing someone, or assisting in a kill. He has 35 Kills/Assists, in 36 minutes, Literally everytime he was near minions he was getting a kill and then being forced to back lol.

Holy shit getting fed on karthus is so much fun. I had full built on 35mins and had the Blue enchant on boots so i could flash in, use seraphs, zhonya, die then ult and let our corki clean up

Barrier needs to give damage reduction while the shield is active. It's just not worth taking for anything right now.
Ghost needs to give at least 30% movespeed if it's not going to give anything else.

Heal is just really good right now. It's not OP anymore now that it doesn't remove grievous wounds but the use cases for other spells that should be competing for spaces aren't anywhere near as good.
Ghost is nice but you don't realistically need to move fast for 10 seconds all that often.
Barrier SHOULD be the go-to for midlaners in high burst lanes, but right now it's still heal.

Actually if you're facing Zed or something you should probably be taking barrier since if he all ins you at lvl 6 he's probably gonna pop an ignite anyway.

Ghost is one of those where it's a pretty small niche. Imo, it's about sticking to someone for 10 seconds, which is only gonna be done by a very small amount of champions (Nasus? Singed? Warwick?). Heal doesn't give much sticking power.

I've said this to a couple of people but I feel like if Ghost gave %AS while active it would be really good without being broken.
Then it could finally compete with Flash since AS is so valuable in this meta. It wouldn't even have to be very significant. 10-15% is a lot.

Niches are nice. Having options is nicer.
When there are only 12 summoner spells having such small niches is really bad design-wise.

There was a change to clarity on PBE a while back that had a knockback effect on a successful hard CC cleanse and that was really interesting because cleanse could actually be used offensively.

It would take them removing flash from the game, making it uselessly small, or making all alternatives incredibly more strong. Like Ghost becoming Yi ult or something along those lines.

Riot deciding that the options on the other summoners are good enough to nerf flash. B/c in their opinion, if there must be a dominant summoner spell, flash should be it. Flash v flash is a lot more interesting than ghost v ghost.

Vlad is definitely stick to people. Not sure about TF.

flash has more gameplay surrounding it than any other summoner spell. the only alternative would be to power creep the other summoner spells.
