Yeah sure sure. I'm sure people getting hit by a madlife hook are bad as well.
Uh...

Madlife hook doesn't really apply to the laning phase. Also, Madlife landing the Madlife hook is him severely outplaying his opponents.

Iec described the play pattern, except there's also a lot of holes for free harass you can take against most ADCs/supports if you know how to time harass during attack animations, use minions, etc. The issue is yeah, you can't really do full-on trading, but if you're playing Sona right, every time you harass, it's basically free.

According to LoLking, she's the second highest win rate support right now, and I know where she ranks by Riot's internal numbers (which tend to be slightly different)
don't feed in lane
land good flashults
get sightstone, mikaels, and upgraded sweeper and don't forget to use all of them appropriately

if you do those three things as Sona and you lose your team is bad

So you stand out of range of Morg Q, but you consistently harass your opponents?

get chalice
spam E on cooldown while walking around

(more effective with ionians btw)
In post 31008, GreyICE wrote:So you stand out of range of Morg Q, but you consistently harass your opponents?

behind an allied minion = out of range of morg Q
and honestly if you can't dodge a max range binding with nothing else to do in lane as a support you suck

and btw Sona harassing doesn't really depend on the enemy support but rather the enemy adc and your adc

if your adc wants to cs and only cs, just step back and be really safe (don't even bother with Q-powerchord, just Q and leave)

if their adc is something like Lucian or Quinn that can take off half your health bar when you go to Q then don't fucking do it while he's not occupied taking a cs or something

and you just really need an adc that fits the whole theme of 'poke them to hell' like Caitlyn/Varus and maybe Ashe
(not, mind you, fucking Twitch or Vayne)

In post 30989, BROseidon wrote:I think all the plat+ support mains on MS will agree that Sona is very powerful.
This is correct.

Sona's ult is still one of the best teamfighting ultimates in the game, sona's presence in the laning phase is massive, and sona is a fairly effective pick into the likes of morgana and thresh given the fact their key abilities rely on having a wide open swath to hit from. It's not that morg / thresh are bad at landing hooks, it's that sona's kit allows her to make sure the hooks never become an issue. She CAN hide in the minion wave, she has range to back off if they walk up, etc.

At six, thresh's potential in the lane is actually significantly weaker than sona's. Thresh ult: if you walk into this thing you will take dmgs and a slow (solution: don't walk into walls). I probably used all of my cd's to get you inside this thing to begin with. Sona ult: if I hit this wide aoe ability on you, you'll take dmgs and be stunned (solution: don't stand in range or be a god and flash right when she casts it to avoid the hit). And I have high base damage and other cooldowns up to punish you during this time.

The reason you rarely see her is the fact that it doesn't fit the "meta" to play her. The increase in carry jungle picks that are squishy increases the need to have a tanky front liner, like thresh or leona, to balance out the team's softness. With the changes to feral flare decreasing the number of carryjungle picks, options like sona / zyra become more viable. The only people playing sona right now are people that are really really really really comfortable with her because they're still able to do the plays and their large experience with sona make up for being squishy (aka: really good positioning, mechanics, and itemization).

Add that to the fact that low elo players tend to have really bad positioning that is easily punished by the all in style (but not by the poke style), and you'll almost always see annie/morgana/thresh/leona in silver / bronze (I'd think that gold is the point where people that play support might experiment with other things, but I haven't played against enough golds recently to know).
don't you feel silly now?

I like karma b/c you punish their bad position with epic damages (mantra Q), and it's completely safe. If you fk it up and do your thing while they DONT have bad positioning you don't lose lane b/c of it :D.

My 2 cents on Braum thus far. From what I've played/seen thus far he works really good with mobile ADCs and has a really hard time with immobile ADCs.

Lucian/Braum lane is beyond broken.

Do you max E before W, because I don't see the MS gained from the 15% CDR being worth more than the bonus that mobi boots give otherwise.

Also, I do go chalice after boots2, and the time b/w getting those is usually fairly marginal.

You don't "consistently" harass with Sona. That's a surefire way to waste a bunch of Qs on minions and run yourself OOM.

You take Q's and Q+Power Chord when openings arise. When you don't have openings, there's no need to be in front of your ADC. When there are openings, you are probably behind minions.

I think that lower-level players broadly undervalue how much MS boosts increase your damage output and trade potential.

I was actually going to make a post about this.

With my duo partner we never lose lane with this combo.
Another combo I like is Corki + Leona.

Does anyone else have adc + support combos that synergize well?
