Are you going to randomly changing votes all game?
You should explain why they're all votable. That'll help you pick one.In post 25, BoroPhil wrote:so many votable people, and only one vote.Everything happens for a reason, except maybe football.

Why do you think changing your vote would cause more reaction when none had been happening beforehand?Everything happens for a reason, except maybe football.

I will be able to post more substantially tonight, but I am disappointed in the number of people not answering my questions. Please do if you have not done so already. I will explain why I care tonight, but basically it helps me get a better feel for players."When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning." -Reiner Knizia

My God stop randomly changing RVS votes it's getting annoying (lol this post is ironic).
Until we get some actual conversation going, I see no point as to not. It's obviously random, so it shouldn't be seen as scummy, and I am in no danger of a lynch seeing as I have no true scummy evidence, rather than just annoyance."Let it be known that almost everything Boonskiies said is either hilarious or annoying." - Shinobi

Right after you posted that, you posted this:In post 17, Jake from State Farm wrote:I look forward for your return so you can explain why you would start the game with something useless like asking questions and why you chose that since you don't normally start games when you are the IC like that.
In fact, you likely discovered this when you looked at my last newbie game, where you saw this post:In post 18, Jake from State Farm wrote:Damn I missed your last newbie game where you did that. I stil want to know why you start games like that. I don't understand the point
Ostensibly,In post 4, Thesp wrote:Hello, everyone! I'm you're friendly IC for this game. I'm happy to answer any question you may have about the mechanics of the game, or anything else that might come up.
The beginning of the game can be a bit haphazard. After all, there's no information other than your own role PMs at the moment. Frequently, people will begin with early rounds of arbitrary voting, commonly referred to as the Random Voting Stage. However, I think that's a waste of time. We can go ahead and start posting useful content right out of the gate. After all, one of the best ways to get information from people is by asking them questions. (This will be even more useful in the game as it goes on. If you think there's not enough information on someone, usually thebestway to get that information will be by being proactive and asking for that information yourself.)
So, I'd like to start this game out with a question to each of you. Generally when I do these, I try to ask a question that I think will be more uncomfortable for scum to answer, or that I think may color their play, or tell me more about how they are likely to play. There can be reasonable skepticism over its overall usefulness, but I do think it is significantly better than arbitrary votes, and it helps me get started.
I'd like every player to answer these two questions:
How often have you played Mafia (or it's alternately-themed version Werewolf) before?
What do you think is the best way for a player to help the town?
Thanks!this post, which you presumably read, holds exactly the answers you're inquiring about. You then complain about activity instead of doing something meaningful about it, instead deciding that asking me a question you presumably know the answer to will substitute for activity. You could be working to get us out of Random Voting Stage, but you're not. Why not answer trivially easy questions?
VOTE: Jake from State Farm
Cheery Dog, why give bogus answers when it would be trivially easy to give real ones?
SomeRandomBoy,TheGottemer, andJake from State Farm, I'd love to get answers to my questions in my first post, or good reasons why you won't. "They're pointless" isn't a good reason, particularly because it's demonstrably untrue: it serves a purpose for me in getting to know you better. If you think that's not a worthwhile goal, I'd like to know."When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning." -Reiner Knizia

the funny thing is i didn't actually even read that entire post, I was skimming on my phone but that's irrelevant because reading it now still doesn't answer my question.
why do you choose to start a game with something useless like asking questions.
see first you say this
but then you want people to answer questions that have no relevance to the game. Scum have no motivation to lie, neither does town. The only thing it does do is prevent people from posting game related content and instead answer stupid questions. RVS like it or not IS part of the game and it's more useful than your questions. We can go ahead and start posting useful content right out of the gate
Seeing how people vote and react to votes even for stupid random reasons do help find scum. I have actually seen a game where scum got suspicion drawn to him because of his rvs and he ultimately was lynched.
You as an IC are doing newbies a disservice imo by teaching them to not RVS.
and no I am not going to answer your questions. You don't like my first reason? here's a better one. Because FUCK YOU that's whyShowThings I've learned.

Prove to me these dumb ass questions are useful. I mean they worked so well for you in Newbie 1498 didn't they? Oh wait a perfect scum win where you helped lead the lynch on the bulletproof and your backup lynch was on yet another townie...
yeah it's about as useful and throwing darts at a dartboard.

Similar thing to what I'm doing, so quit complaining. And maybe my RVS will stop now, as I have stopped on one I'm comfortable with."Let it be known that almost everything Boonskiies said is either hilarious or annoying." - Shinobi
