I'm not happy with my reads on the majority of the newbies in this game, Jake does not need lynched quite yet in any case.Everything happens for a reason, except maybe football.

Thesp. Can you please explain with your IC hat on the pros and cons to speed lynching? This would be a good teaching moment for the newbies playing. In post 122, Jake from State Farm wrote:
Why are you in a rush to stifle discussion? That's anti-town.In post 120, Thesp wrote:Lynch away!
Let people react to my claim before hammering. Let people read my recent post about your lying. These are things an IC should be telling people.
Could you also use your IC hat and explain the pros and cons to hammering a player without letting people react /respond to a role claim?
I feel both of these are relevant since you were encouraging both.
Newbies probably never encountered this before.
ThanksShowThings I've learned.

here's an interesting read - http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.ph ... 0#p3038210
Sure this is old but some of the more experienced players tend to agree with me. RVS is better than RQS. It's much harder to get out of RQS than it is to get out of RVS. There are also people who believe that it's pointless because most people are going to answer the questions honestly, or as ReaperCharlie says, not at all...
Since i have already proven that RQS doesn't actually help Thesp find scum better, my original question is still out on the table (now slightly revised)
Why does he stat the game with RQS when 1. it slows the game down more than RVS does and 2. its been proven to NOT be useful in Thesp finding scum.ShowThings I've learned.

Prod the mod please lol
Now Thesp needs prodding yet get logged in both yesterday and today...
Boon needs prodding
The gottemer just prod dodged and should post something useful in his next post
Ashura should be replaced and Flames is almost at that point also.
Logging in and avoiding the game is lurking and ICs are encouraged not to lurk. It's also a scumtell when you have questions/ posts waiting to be responded to.

I hope you all had a lovely 4th of July weekend! My house is now finally in-law free. Now, on with the game.
We must have been reading a different thread, then. I came away from that thread thinking several people had differering views of whether or not opening up a game with questions was useful or not. (And if you thinkIn post 130, Jake from State Farm wrote:here's an interesting read - http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.ph ... 0#p3038210

Jake from State Farm, do you thinkIbelieve that opening up with questions (rather than arbitrary voting) is useful?
I'd really like to see where ashura525 stands on things. (If he's not back by Monday, I'd like to see him replaced, as I don't think "V/LA until further notice" is tenable. I would much prefer him back rather than being replaced, though.)
BoroPhil, if you're not ready to end the day yet, what are you waiting for? (I have a suspicion, but I want to hear your thoughts.)
Jake from State Farm has mentioned this, but since he's requested an essay on "speedlynching" as well, it wouldn't hurt to go into a bit more details on the rules for the unfamiliar. Once someone reaches a number of votes equal to the majority of the town (which today is 5), the day will end as soon as the moderator logs on and locks the thread, and no amount of voting or unvoting will prevent that. There's a certain danger of lynching a person before they've had a chance to claim - for example, in my last Newbie game, players placed the lynching vote on a person before he'd had a chance to claim his role, which in his case would have probably given some people pause to reconsider their votes, and allow for people to counterclaim. In post 135, TheGottemer wrote:Question: if someone reaches 5 votes does the day end?
In Jake from State Farm's case, a counterclaim is moot, as he has claimed to be a vanilla townie. It is known that there are 5-6 vanilla townies in this game, so counterclaiming vanilla townie is counterproductive, as it helps the scum target their nightkills better.
There's also a certain point where we should lynch someone, and ideally this should come well before any deadline. If there's some specific reason you want the day to continue (that is, if there's some information or reaction you want from a particular player), you should be trying to seek it out right now. Of course, you should be doing that anyway, but extending the day is not a worthy cause for its own sake. However, it may be useful to prolong discussion for specific reasons you may have. There's a nice bell curve of information in a game. If you have too little to work from, it becomes difficult to read people effectively. If you have too much, then scummy slips can slip under the radar beneath pages of text, and re-reads become exponentially harder. It is up to you to gauge where we are on the information continuum, and how we're going to get where you think we need to be.
Anyway, I'm rambling.Right now, you should be doing something purposeful with your vote. If you're not, then ask questions to help you figure out what you want to do with your vote."When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning." -Reiner Knizia

Finally a post that resembles something I'd expect from an IC
To answer your question, yes I think that you probnky think this technique is useful. Though based on your past games they haven't been useful.
Since you so it as either alignment though, it's not enough to determine your alignment and so I have to look at your play as a whole. Right now I'm not seeing much that looks pro town. Specifically lying about me(or anyone for that matter)is scummy.
Right now my 2 top scum reads still look like scum to me.ShowThings I've learned.

Yeah my computer died and I had a busy weekend. So I'm phone posting until further notice. Also apparently no ones getting prods until monday I guess.
The people I suspect most are scum is theGottemer and Borophil. Gott for bandwagoning and now being constructive with their posts and Borophil for acting like he is providing content but hasn't provided anything. I am still not getting anything out of this argument in terms of alignment. Being anti town isnt scummy, and many town members will do anti town things at some point.
I'm not 100% about any reads now, and there's two slots I am "???" about. I think this day should continue until we can get some information about flames and ashura.
TheGottemer, you didn't need to apologize lol. I just cant understand your thinking which makes me think your hiding something. Are you happy with just lynching jake today?
Borophil, you ignored me and ypu have no buisness asking for reads when you have been so vague so far..why did you vote jake?
Boonskiies, you ignored me too.. Why did you unvote?
Thesp, I really don't care for town reads, is jake your only scum read? I don't see how soneone can be so antitown that they're scum.. And I can't understand how you can want to end the day too. I think most people know how to parse pages for information.
Jake, my question was in reference to when you said thegott was being bad town. I was however mistaken seeing as how you still think he's scum, so forget it.- Thesp

If only I had two votes to give today.
FOS: Boonskiies. There's no reason for this right now.
Why don't you want a prod? What are your thoughts on recent developments? Do you not want a Jake from State Farm lynch? Do you still want it, but just not right now? What more are you expecting to get out of the day? Who else do you think is scum?
Posting to avoid a prod does not absolve you of the need to contribute to the discussion. If for some terrible, awful reason we don't lynch Jake from State Farm today, you're next unless you come up with someverygood reasons you shouldn't be."When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning." -Reiner Knizia

If I get lynched today it will be for terrible bad reasons Thesp. Nobody, not even yourself have provided a reason good enough to lynch me.
Also why are you ignoring my posts about you ? The fact that you haven't even tried to deny lying but instead deflect attention away from it is admission of guilt in my book.
If you were town and made a mistake when you said I wasn't trying to increase activity , I would have expected you to admit you made a mistake. But you didn't do that and now it's too late.

Was there something you specifically wanted to respond to? I missed it - I thought it most of it was you ranting about how you thought I was lying, which I simply disagree with. You were lying. I also rebuffed your entire case making your reasons to vote me invalid.
Also you categorically disagree?
Your reasons weren't good, some weren't even true and none of them are indicative of a person being scum.
Boro had no reason

Boonskies had no reason either.

The fact I got to L-1 and you were declaring somebody hammer me without a single valid reason really frightens me if you are town. It's probably the most reckless play I have ever seen all because i hurt your feelings. It's bad enough you report my posts to the game mod AND the site mods (obviously I'm assuming it was you because I don't see why anyone else would), but to try and use that to basically policy lynch me is ridiculous. There is literally no scum intent in any of my posts , there aren't even any scummy tones in my posts. You literally have nothing on me other than your grudge cause I said F you to you.ShowThings I've learned.
