i dont think that that second quote actually means what you are saying it means but because it's not all that important, i'll just assume i'm interpreting it incorrectly and you're right that he was speculating about the existence of a traitor

i can think of reasons a town player with intimate flavour knowledge would speculate about certain roles they think would be in the game (i've done it before, though i tend to keep those thoughts in my head because of the exact reasons justin-slot is coming under fire here). i don't see it as likely that scum-justin thinks it's a good idea to start conversations about a traitor.
