A caring grandmother, you have grown disillusioned during your years in the inner city. You've lost your daughter, and will probably lose your grandson, too. But they are still family. The cops may barge into your home and judge you for being a bad caretaker, but they do not know how hard it is to live like that. Spoiler: Jackal711/TheAdrienC
Wendell "Orlando" Blocker
Image
"I'll see you all tomorrow. On time, you hear?”

Although you want to get in on the game for more cash, you know the value of a good front. As the owner of a strip club, the gang uses you for their business. It can be done in safety because of you, who have no record. Police can't just waltz in to search without a warrant. Your position as a front allows you to oversee the actions of the gang, and, every once in a while, an unsuspecting cop walks in to enjoy the view. Of course, if those cops do suspect something, its up to you to let the boss know.

Assistant State Attorney Rhonda Pearlman
Image
"Unless I want to spend my whole life as a fucking ASA, I can't spend my afternoons pissing off people who matter.”

You are ambitious. A lawyer. A woman of the courts. You are the person who makes sure people who should be in prison end up there. But more importantly, if you manage to help take down the Barksdale Crew, then odds are a nice promotion will be on its way. A little paperwork here, a little lie there and you will be on your way to becoming a judge.

Wallace
Image
"This is me, yo, right here.”

Some people just aren't meant for the game. You are conflicted. You didn't like seeing what your co-workers did to Brandon. You don't like death. You just want to keep the kids safe and get the opportunity to learn. But you also can't ditch your home. The police are looking for an informant, and you decided to work with them. At least temporarily--until the game gets peaceful again. But the police will have to convince you first.

Spoiler: Slandaar aka the all powerful Omar Little
Omar Little
Image
"You all need to open this door, man, before I huff and puff.”

A man with a code, you would avoid killing if you could. But the death of Brandon has enraged you. Revenge has become a priority, and you won't stop until the people responsible are dead. The Barksdale Gang has provoked your wrath and put a bounty on your head, but you will not let them take you easily.

▪Welcome,
Slandaar
.

You are
Omar Little, Modified Lyncher
You are aligned with
yourself
.

Abilities:
▪Stakeout: Each night, you can target someone to learn if they are one of your targets (Wee-Bay, Stinkum, and Bird). In addition, you will learn what type of role they are (investigative, killing, etc). You would not have survived all these years if not for your patience.
▪Hit (one-shot day vig): You find your enemies when they are the most vulnerable, then strike them down before they have a chance to retaliate. During one day phase, you may send a PM to the mod stating who you wish to have killed immediately. Your kill flavor is "had it coming."
▪Tentative Peace (one-shot commuter): You do not underestimate your enemies, and as such occasionally take the time to sit back and plan. During one night, you may make yourself immune to all night actions.
▪Your "cover" is
Clay Davis, Town DayVig (Aligned with the Barksdale Gang)
. I will provide a quote and photo if asked for.

Win condition:
You win if you outlive your targets: Wee-Bay, Stinkum, and Bird. You do not have to contribute to their deaths (ie, if someone else kills them, it counts toward your goal). When you reach your win condition, you leave the game.

TY Toasto, I thoroughly enjoyed myself here.

Salamence20 wrote:Fuck this game.

Only winners get haters, yo!

Insta-sigged.

On a serious note, since I still have about 30 minutes of scumday left in my TZ, here's what went down in Wire S1 Mafia (all opinions of course entirely my own)

1) I love my scumteam
- Every member of scumteam played it to the hilt this game. DGB took a crappy situation, and played it off in a perfectly legit fashion (and I still deserve to QT with her, and it will happen). When I say SKOT rocks it BAM-style, it was actually praise for his homogeneity. Slandaar and Sala and I had all just finished the Mutiny Mafia mini, and the multiple parallels (absurd trollhammer, ee cummings-style oneliners, quantum troll logic) were ample to fakecall him town and carry on with it. I don't think he would have been killed sooner than 2 days later if he hadn't been caught out on the Watch. Boo caught a lot of heat, but we maintained so many viably scummy wagons D1 and D2 that Town's vote was split just enough to let her slide by.

And muffin gets a para on his own because he really pulled it out this game with his manipulation of molla and mastin. You can read his (genuine) guilt in our QT about all the stops he pulled out to get us this win. I have nothing but praise and would happily scum up with him again.

2) Flavour ruled the day
- Toasty did an incredible job with the role assignment and flavour matchups this game. A big part of why my claim carried me through literal days of zero content (see Titus lynch) is that the name, which was mod-provided, worked so well with the role I cooked up. Brianna really did help out the "street widow" Barksdales, and then her money really did run out after Avon went down, so she had to stop. You can see that everyone who was familiar with the flavour bought into it at least a little bit:

Spoiler:
Dr Pants wrote:Xis's claim actually does make sense

Slandaar wrote:
Xis might be - his claim was good but scum got fake claims including roles so his role could be fake.

Whereas people who hadn't seen much of the Wire yet thought of it in terms of pure Mafia theory and were dumbfounded by how I sailed past:

Spoiler:
vezokpiraka wrote:No seriously guys. You unvoted cause of the claim?

Does that claim even make sense? We have a VT, a self activated treestump and a commuter flipped and you think a one person empowerer makes even a little sense?

This is probably his scum role instead of a strongman kill.

POWERFUL TOWNIE wrote:I think Xisis claim is a load of garbage and should be lynched but eh.

-ap.
I'm at innout burger ^^

3)Large Theme Law - aka "Town on Town slapfights"
- We all know how this part works. Once you go over 13 players sticking closely to your good initial instinctual reads (mastin called all of scumteam but DGB D2) becomes really hard when fellow town starts to annoy you, the game swells to pages upon pages of nonsensical hyperdefensive hysteria, and your motivation to play just evaporates.

---------------------------------------------------

I honestly thought town played really well this game, especially Pants and Mastin, my teasing in our QT aside. A big part of the game is exploiting aspects of a player's personality that you've grown accustomed to, and I've wall-v-walled mastin in 4 games now. Dunno if we'll ever end up on the same alignment, but I hope so! It should be fun.

gg everyone

I made way too many mistakes in this game, especially since I was suspicious of two scums right when I came into the game and left those instincts high and dry.

FWIW aside from the LyLo quickvote (always a bad idea), I thought you were pretty decent.

I was quite insistent with muffin that you should have been yesterday's NK, but he really wanted to make it mastin.

My Thoughts

This game opened with a lot of interesting plays. There were two gambits straight away, and even though they both flopped (no thanks to me). I find Salamance's interesting, because I believe he did think he was town originally, but decided to play it off as intentional. Also, was the switching of colors really that confusing. Ya'all are supposed to read your PM's, not go off of color cue's! Additionally, Salamance did seem to suspect BooKitty from the gambit reaction, and made people promise him that BooKitty would get lynched.

But that promise was never kept, and became a major theme in the game. Note that zMuffinMan was a counter-wagon for nearly every lynch that took place, but no one ever really saw that suspicious. Town lynch after town lynch, zMuffinMan made it closer and closer to the end. I thought his luck would end by day 5 at the most. So I'm trying to think of why exactly it happened--because despite Muffin playing a great game, someone in his position surviving to endgame is really rare. I think there were a few reasons for this:

1) The "it's too obvious" suspicion. zMuffinMan (at least viewing from the outside) was VERY scummy. He was emotionally manipulative, but made it work for him because he did a great job of playing off of other people (namely, BBmolla and mastin2). Oftentimes when the town fails to catch scum, they doubt their original reads rather than look to the "second best" options the day beforehand. I think this doubt is natural, but it played a HUGE role in this game. It is sort of like hiding something in plain sight. No one suspects to have someone hiding on top of something--they all expect it to be disguised. In this way, zMuffinMan transparency worked like a charm.

2) The town defaulting to mastin2 for leadership. Now, this isn't meant to grill mastin2, as every town player did things that could have been avoided here. It seemed like everyone would just sheep what mastin2 said eventually rather than actively standing up against their opinons. This is bad in ANY town because argumentation does need to take place. And this game didn't have all that much. There was questioning and disagreement, sure, but no one really thought that "gee, maybe mastin2's reads/theory is incorrect. Maybe we should try something different." This is the reason why I hate process of elimination in mafia games. It almost never works, because scum can sneak into a group of "obvtownies" and control the game almost as soon as they gained this status. Xisiqomelir's great claim gave him this position, and even though people thought about going after him, they never really brought it to the forefront.

3) Believe it or not, I think lynching SKOT was probably the worst scum-lynch the town could have gotten. Between zMuffinMan's hard pushing and SKOT's overall relationships with other people in the game, town may have begun to overthink lynches after this point. xisiqomelir, zMuffinMan, SKOT as scum together never really made sense. No one ever really looked into how they associated with one another in the group. Now, if Muffin had gotten lynched in place of SKOT, then SKOT would likely still be lynched one or two days later because of his getting caught targetting Dr Pants. After this point, muffin gained a lot of towncred while xisiqomelir was able to slip even further UTR.

4) TRYING TO BREAK THE GAME. Okay, despite my many failures as a mod this game, I do think I made a decent setup. I wanted to make the game difficult for players who knew the show to connect the dots on what I may have done. So, I loaded the game with female characters and gave them power (one of the main criticism's of the Wire is a lack of good female heroes, with the exception of Griggs). I gave some people roles that may have been a stretch. I gave minor characters a role to play, rather than just make the game just about people who are in the spotlight. The scumteam, too, would be an unexpected group (seriously, even I wonder why I picked Rhonda and Herc--but I liked the idea). This one is probably the most minor of points, but I do think it played a role, ESPECIALLY in the lynch of vezokpiraka (which made 0 sense to me).

So Those are the main reasons I think scum won this game, apart from their skill. The team worked very well together despite how much pressure was on them early. I remember thinking that DGB was their only hope for a win after day1, and then I fucked that up but they made it work. Great game, everyone. I hope you enjoyed it and I will be sure to message all of you when I make season 2!

I mean I realize we stopped bothering to win after we mislynched the obvious town doctor, but really.

Xisi's claim was so fucking scummy, holyshit. It didn't fit with anything else in the game.

I can't believe that my dingbat scumpals weren't 100% sure that I was telegraphing my Traitorousness. Come on. How could I have been more in-your-face traitor-claiming?

Goofy can we be in a Large, on the same team, and actually able to communicate next time?
