Vote Count 2.7

Only in the dark do people's true color's show.

As for the lawyer, well, in the time it took for them to deliberate, he finished some work on another case and was finally ready to give this one his full attention.

You're reminding me of myself, but I usually keep it to myself when I'm being townread because of my partner or my predecessor instead of my own contributions.

That's nice. Although I'm more interested in the basis for Anatole's reasoning than yours at this point.

It wasn't about my read. I guess it was more about figuring you out as a player in general than specific to this game.

Your post actually reminded me of you in my game wondering why Regfan was only reading Empire but not you and ultimately winded up being scum.

I've been thinking about this, probably more than it warrants, because I'm wondering why Regfan's read bothered me so much when it hasn't bothered me all that much when people read my predecessors and hydra partners in other games rather than developing reads based on my play. My conclusion is "I don't know". Something about it bugged me, and I should have paid more attention than I did.

What do you make of the people who are townreading you based on Tammy's play in this game?

It is possible they are not interested in determining my alignment which points to them already knowing it.

Do you really think that's what that was? I'm just getting butthurt because not every single thing I do is interpreted as super town?

What I care about is that you said my scum list is 'lazy' (ergo it is lacking in some regard) and then proceed to scumread two of the four people on it (as well as not give a very clear indication of who you think I'm totally whiffing on. That gives an air of cog-dis.

If you think Baboon or ffery is scum (which appears to be something you're trying to at least hint that you're looking at), I'd wish you'd not beat around the bush about it.

Town-ish. I think the thing I liked best from her was where she tried to insinuate that I should be getting a feel of her town game by the point in the game that I said that I was waiting for more from her. This is again a point where I could have seen rationalization that didn't happen.

At the same time, I kinda still am waiting for more from her. It's end of D2 and I'd hope for some slightly stronger stances about things than what she's giving, but she's clearly townhunting first and foremost this game and I can at least see the progression on that.

Are you actively worried about her? If so, why in particular?

No, I have a townread on Ffery based on meta. What I worried about was you asking her who she wanted to lynch and when she said 5-Off, immediately voting him. Why are you sheeping someone who's been in the game for much less time than you have been and whose alignment you haven't nailed down yet?

The Fonz wrote:It's not. I've been clear throughout that she's playing incredibly suboptimally, but I think she's town. See the 'Itch you just can't scratch' post. I mean, I could choose not to point out things I'm noticing about her, but I'm trying to be transparent about my thought process here. If people are town and playing badly, you should be encouraging them to play better. Lissa's lack of content is incredibly irritating. But none of the fundamentals of the 'She's town' case have changed, and indeed the uselessness isn't new.

I think it's at least responsible to revisit this.

The whole reason I brought up the fakeclaim issue (guess what, it's not Titus' "herp derp he's trying to fake a townslip durrrrrr") is that if scum-Lissa has a fakeclaim built into her role, the primary tenet of why people are townreading her seriously starts to break down.

Honey didn't flip with a fakeclaim embedded in the role PM, so it's enitrely plausible that she just made up the security guard thing on the spot and Nat just ran with it in the flip (as I could see her doing that). If that is the case, then Lissa probably really is town, but I want to make sure people are thinking about that before they utterly write her off.

He's in my list of four (if she's said like you/baboon or something I'd have resisted it) and I desperately want to actually fucking do something in this game phase; she's also someone I trust to be an above average scumhunter.

Do you think reading through the game blind and getting alignments incorrect will be more useful than reading through the game based on flips/VCA and without bias?

I don't know why, but that made me laugh irl. Have I even said there's someone besides 5-off that I want to lynch today?

Somewhat related thought, I am pretty disconcerted by the levels of productive activity today versus day 1 so far. By productive I mean activity that helps me develop reads. It was all there for me to to just consume when I joined the game. It's not happening so much this day once the night result flurry died down.

I need to be the change I want to see, I guess. Will see what I can do after I shop and relocate.

And so am I and so is everyone and that is at least 60% of the reason I'm trying to drive a compromise-esque kind of thing through in the hopes that we can at least generate something to latch onto either today (for however long that is still going to last) and tomorrow.

Possibly not, but I think that just might be another way of stating what I'm trying to say - I don't feel like you're really even soft-pushing anyone yet, and as such have not betrayed a huge amount of your mindset. I expect it to eventually happen, and yes, while I know you're wont to behave like this (as you yourself have pointed out) I can't responsibly say that you're town for it because that's a really easy way to play with not a whole lot of accountability involved. All I can do is the responsible thing - realize that you're doing a thing, and wait for you to get done with your 'watch and probe' approach and evaluate you based on what you
do
(or don't do!) with the information you've gathered, because until that happens or the gamestate drastically changes my read on you can only go so far in either direction.

Does that make sense?

I have a bit of a problem with your vote here if you're so willing to say that your scumread on Lissa is more certain than your scumread on Baboon (especially in this case where you pretty much are certain they aren't both scum). Does the one vote from Nashville really make this wagon suddenly viable?

Also what's your 5-off read?

It does make it suddenly viable. Last time I was voting Baboon I was the only one, iirc.

5-off is a compromise to get the game moving - I respect that and would vote him, but I'd rather go with one of my scum reads regardless of whether they're likely scum together.
