I still plan to run "Would you like to be my neighbor?" AKA Culdasac but here are some other Ideas I am kicking around

Neighbor's Dilemma


Based on a setup VP Balter once ran

Odd SK PM
You are an Odd SK Neighbor. You can only kill on odd nights when there are 4 or more people alive in the game. When 3 or less are alive, you can kill on any night. At night you may talk with XXX who is a Town Neighbor. You win when all other players are eliminated or nothing can be done to prevent this


Even SK PM
You are an Even SK Neighbor. You can only kill on even nights when there are 4 or more people alive in the game. When 3 or less are alive, you can kill on any night. Actually I think I have the perfect name already :)

Culdasac

9 Town Neighbors
2 Mafia Neighbors

At start of game everyone is assigned a random house number. Player in house 1 is neighbors with player in house 2 and 12. Player in house 2 is neighbors wth player in house 1 and 3. And so on so every player has two people they can talk to at night. Yes it is possible for one mafioso to be neighbors with another mafioso should the dice allow it

Depends on if consider the SK's an informed minority or not

If not, then you are right. The other setups are likely better in hindsight

I might not run Neighbors Dilemma in normal micro queue as I doubt its considered normal. Might run on a marathon day though

may be easier to look at it as:

But yes I can see why you guys say its not mafia. Part of me still wants to think it is as I came up with the setup and WITP recently got deemed not mafia but I guess on the bright side, they can both be run in mishmash or on marathon day

Parallel Poison


11 Players

2 Mafia Goons

9 Vanilla Townies


  • Mafia do not have factional nightkill, instead a two target factional poison which causes both players to die the next night.
  • Mafia may no poison, or choose to only poison one.
  • Poisoned players are informed they are poisoned.
  • Town have a normal vote along with a HEAL: player vote. The heal vote removes any poison from the target player.

Scumsided. Need to think on it.

You should add that players know they are poisoned but ok

I don't think it's too scumsided tbh, it removes scum's ability to remove the strongest town player reliably.

That's actually a really good point. What do you think ideal numbers are then? Is 2:7 fine?

Well, town usually has no fucking clue who their strongest town player is...so I don't think it will change town winrate by much. 9v2 looks okay, not really sure why you went for 10v2.

Been playing around with a C9++ variant...

Unusual Roles

Police Chief - Gets "Is a Cop" or "Is not a Cop". Result is not alignment determinant
Dirty Cop - No power. Checks as a cop to Police Chief

six coinflips are done, setup varies per results:

0 Heads: 2x Town One Shot Cop, 2x Mafia Goon, 1x Mafia Dirty Cop
1 Heads: 1x Town Cop, 1x Town One Shot Cop, 1 Mafia Godfather, 2x Mafia Goon
2 Heads: 1x Town Cop, 1x Town One Shot Cop, 1x Town Police Chief, 1 Mafia Dirty Cop, 1x Mafia Framer, 1x Mafia Goon
3 Heads: 2x Town Cop, 1x Town Police Chief, 1x Town Miller, 1 Mafia Role Cop, 1 Godfather, 1 Mafia Goon

This could be interesting but I think it may be a little better if you just make all kills happen overnight (just flavored) because there is really no good reason for scum to use anything but "vig" kill. Just basically three mafia members and a doctor that protects against each kill type instead.

Fruit Vendor is just a named townie, seems out of place. Tracker is strong, but fine.

  • Lyncher targets are always town
  • Double Lyncher has two targets.
  • When one target is lynched, it is publicly announced.
  • When both targets are lynched, the game ends in a lyncher victory.
  • Lyncher and Mafia can not joint win. Lyncher wins in the case of a tie.

Llama they all take a kill simultaneously but your comment got me thinking on another setup.
Elements
1 Fire Mafia
1 Water Mafia
1 Earth Mafia

3 Elemental Doctors
1 Tracker
9 VT's


  • Mafia have 2 factional night-kills. If only 1 member remains he then targets 2 targets.
  • An Elemental Doctor protects someone as well as naming one of the three elements. The doctor will only protect kills from that element and is immune to that element that night.
  • Elememts are excluded from the mafia role description when they flip, so only Mafia will be told.

Penguin_Alien's "one and done" micro worked sort of like this but as oneshots.
Have retired for good; Life is too busy to have time or energy for mafia. It was fun~

Its interesting in theory at least, off the top of my head it could actually balance. Maybe its best to essentially say its same as Doctor + 2 Named Town + Tracker for that purpose against a three goon team as I think its exceedingly unlikely for town to successfully block a scum kill.
