the lightning rod action is absolutely nonsensical. it makes no sense as town and a lot of sense as scum. he wants everyone to believe it's because he's oblivious. but i've seen him play that card before as scum, so i'm not so quick to buy into it.

Ankamius is my best guess for scum right now. I don't know. His non-reaction to the votes on him is a null tell to some, but to me it reads scummy. I feel like town would have a more active reaction to being voted by someone they just attacked. Maybe scum trying not to say OMGUS? Hm.

So are we actually saying that boon is an inventor, with 2 items from the series, two nondescript defensive items, and one very specific MSnet role that would save boon last night? Presumably, if his role is anything like an actual inventor, he would give the deathray to someone who can then use that role the next night. But then we have this lightning rod, which allegedly makes the target a lightning rod for this night only? Maybe it's more like a joat instead, and the deathray is just a 1shot kill, but its just overall a bit strange.

That being said, we could probably try to confirm his role through night actions.

Points on Boonskies:

I only glanced at Egg's post on him, but I thought he brought up a good point in that it doesn't seem like anyone came up with this claim for him. The excessive and ridiculous crumbing of Dr. Horrible seemed fairly Boonskies to me. The claim itself doesn't seem like Crows or Medea's doing: the "oh maybe it was a coaching point" is always a bit reachy to me because the closest thing I've ever seen to a successful coaching in a mafia game was bussing people to coach on a site where bussing isn't really a thing.

There's also a matter of the Anatole Kurigan kill: if scum put this much effort into setting up a Boonskies lynch, they probably would be willing to form a kill to sort of seal the deal. Why would Boonskies say Anatole Kurigan was a townread if that kill was supposed to add credence to his inventor claim?

I personally don't find it unreasonable that Boonskies believed that his lightning rod would be like a "normal lightning rod" and draw both a kill and a protection, hence net result being night is skipped for a day, and target a townread as a result. I also find it pretty likely that Bulbazak would offer some sort of way for his IC to survive at least the first night, a lightning rod-izer seems like a pretty simple way to do that.

All in all, not understanding the animosity towards the slot.

How does it make sense as scum? My problem with your argument is that it seems live you're pushing "too dumb to be town" which is just as much of a fallacy as the other one is.
